the god

Artist : Composite Profuse / Kobol Electronics

Label : Datadisk

the god's bankers / werkspionage / 12"

Two of Italy’s most formidable electrosonic programmers, Composite Profuse & Kobol Electronics were handpicked by veteran covert intelligence agent Wilhelm von Erwache to decode the encrypted archives of SISMI, the Italian Secret Service, and bring to life these clandestine events onto a 12" vinyl disk. On the A-side, Composite Profuse (Minimal Rome, Bunker) uncovers his tracks; Blackfriars Bridge & Patience and Charcoals and sets them to an ominous electro soundtrack that his name is synonymous for. The B-side sees Kobol Electronics (Minimal Rome) deliver 2 sonic binary programs, Code01 & Code10 that will devastate both internetworks and dancefloors worldwide. Italian Dope...

computor interface

Artist : Computor Rockers

Label : Breakin' Records

computor interface / 12"

Ed Dmx brings back the computor rockers for a slice of proper old-school electro rap and also recalls breakin's first signing bass junkie for remix duties. this is one for the real electro heads and fans who pine for the early days of Breakin' Records. The master computor drops an X-Men style rap over the hardest electro beats, 3 different mixes plus a more Detroit-flavoured bonus track… "Computor Interface - usb 2.0", heavy new-school electro beats and stabs with a funky computor rap. "Computor Interface (Bass Junkie rmx)", Bass Junkie works his mpc magic in a hard but funky remix. "Computor Interface - rs232", seriously old-school version with clean 808 and linedrum beats. "The B-Boys", Hashim-meets-Detroit-style electro bass instrumental. Massive One !!!

Artist : Computor Rockers

Label : Breakin' Records

tech-no-rock / 12"

This record is about as oldschool as you can get, analogue synth bass over crisp linndrum beats with a tight vocoder rap enticing you onto the dancefloor. Add some dirty handclaps and a few funky keybord licks and that about wraps it up for 5 minutes of funk, Computor Rock style. It's one for the oldschool b-boys and girls, lockers and poppers, in the tradition of classic vocoder jamms from Grandmaster Flash's "Scorpio" to Jonzun Crew's "Space Is The Place", with no concessions to the new jacks colonizing the electro scene these days. Catch it while you can ;-)

computor shock

Artist : Computor Rockers

Label : Breakin' Records

computor shock / 12"

Ed DMX revisits his Computor Rockers alias for some slamming electrobass and funked up 808 tracks. The title track is an absolute must-have for anyone with more than one Egyptian Lover record in their crate, jamming all the classic hallmarks from Tour De France samples to angry vocoder voices, boom-quaking 808 bass and whip-cracked snares. On the flip "How We Used To Rock" is allowed to get a little funkier at a slower tempo with electro-funked synthwork for the Herbie Hancock crew, and finishes on the Cosmic Force styles of "Distributed Processing". Roll out the lino!

the return of the Computor Rockers

Artist : Computor Rockers

Label : Breakin' Records

the return of the Computor Rockers / 12"

Second Computor Rockers ep. Two boomin' electro trax, one with a dope vocoder rap, plus some video game sounds and an x-rated ghetto-tech number on the flip. Great 12" !!!

figé dans le marbre...

Artist : Congres De Vienne / Saison Froide

Label : Brouillard Definitif

figé dans le marbre... / LP

Even if beginning with the 90's and all of its trendy electro-gothic artifacts, Congrčs De Vienne however sounded different; lineage with bands such as Vita Noctis or Neva comes to mind, the band managed to catch the spirit of early 80's wave bands. Quite anachronistic and deliberately confidential, they released a whole bunch of very limited tapes only known to a very limited few. Celebrating the 20 years of the band, Brouillard Définitif presents us today their 1st official release! Saison Froide, whose 1st release has been a tape back in 2001, is one of these bands that decided to carry on past decades' memory with influences such as Odessa, Brigade Internationale or Leitmotiv, to name a few. With this release, Saison Froide & Congrďż˝s De Vienne share the space to finally deliver a new milestone released in a limited edition of 300 copies on colored vinyl. Tip!!

Artist : Conrad Schnitzler

Label : M=minimal

zug / LP

Schnitzler's "Zug" is one of the most important and 1st electronic minimalist works that were published in the 70's. Almost simultaneously with Kraftwerk’s groundbreaking "Autobahn" Zug appeared on the legendary "The Red Cassette". This re-release is rounded off with a remix of Con-Fan Stefan Betke aka Pole. Pole and Kassian Troyer (aka Radian) have mastered the record. Another remix is contributed by "Borngräber & Strüver". Original is a 20 minute epic piece that will make electronic music connaisseurs mouth watery...

ballet statique

Artist : Conrad Schnitzler

Label : M=minimal

ballet statique / LP

Peerless electronic masterpiece reissued on vinyl. Probably better known under its original title of Con, 'Ballet Statique' was released on an unsuspecting world in 1978. Coming after Schnitzler's searching 'Colour' series, it's one of his most perfectly realized and futureproof recordings, beautifully poised and ultra-minimalist in execution but wildly psychedelic in scope and implication. You can hear its influence on Chris Carter's recently revived 'The Space Between', with stately, repetitive analogue melodies suspended in a spacious, multi-directional sound design simply unbelievable for the era. This album is overwhelmingly beautiful, an-astro utopian reverie that Cluster, Monoton or even Kraftwerk would be proud to call their own. From Carlos Giffoni to Carl Craig, Mute to Minimal Wave, the DNA of this album can be found in virtually all adventurous electronic music that has followed in its wake. If you don't know, get to know. Essential!

live '72

Artist : Conrad Schnitzler

Label : Further Records

live '72 / 2x12"

Edition of 500, housed in hand screen printed diy black fresh paper jacket. Seattle-based Further Records is releasing Conrad Schnitzler's 'Live '72' on double LP. It's a 12 track release that captures the German electronic-music pioneer in peak form, loosing contrails of vivid analog-synth abstractions into some of the more godforsaken realms of deep space. These are some ahead-of-their-time sounds that later had a great impact on several important IDM producers. A real experience ;)

rare tracks 1979-1982 re-edited

Artist : Conrad Schnitzler / Dompteur Mooner

Label : Erkrankung Durch Musique

rare tracks 1979-1982 re-edited / 12"

Conrad Schnitzler is truly a pioneer of German avant-garde minimal electronics. He was Joseph Beuys’ 1st student and early line-up member in Tangerine Dream and Kluster, then going solo in 1972, and also recording together with his son Gregor Schnitzler. This new 12"ep compiles rare tracks from various vinyls, re-edited by Dompteur Mooner (aka Zombie Nation and founder of the Erkrankung Durch Musique record label). It comprises "Auf Dem Schwarzen Kanal" and "Elektroklang" originally released on "Auf Dem Schwarzen Kanal" (RCA, 1980), "The 4:08 To Paris" originally released as Berlin Express (with Gregor Schnitzler and Peter Baumann) on "The Russians Are Coming" (Portrait, 1982) and "Tanze Im Regen" originally released on "Con 3" (Sky, 1981). Limited to 300 copies only and include small stamped card signed by Conny. Very special one !

...until next morning

Artist : Contrepoison

Label : Avant!

...until next morning / 12"

Brand new project by Pierre-Marc Tremblay. After a few tapes, this 4-track ep shows the darkest and most anguished side of the human feeling, where drum machines sound like heartbeats and synthesizers are as liquid as tears. Deep, somber vocals filled with sorrow and anger cap it all. Brrr..

I keep on searching

Artist : Contrepoison

Label : Avant!

I keep on searching / 12"

Long due vinyl press of Contrepoison 2nd ep. We have been glad and proud to debut Pierre-Marc Tremblay's electronic solo project back in 2011 with his 1st '...Until Next Morning' ep. Since then Contrepoison has shared an ace split with Vatican Shadow and put out a couple of tape releases on his own Sans Issue record label. Digitally released in 2012 by Hospital Productions and Heartworm Press, 'I Keep On Searching' finally sees the light on vinyl. The closest comparison we could make is early Cold Cave again, but there's more here: something dead-eyed and drugged proper to this sound. Make sure to check the sludgy bass thrust and distant, dingy vox of "I Keep On Searching" and the bleak, tormented coldwave pop of "Nectar Of Destiny". One-time pressing of 500 on 45rpm black vinyl 12". Comes with thick insert sheet with lyrics and credits.

takin' it straight

Artist : Cori Josias

soft skin

Artist : Cosmetics

Label : Captured Tracks

soft skin / 7"

Vancouver duo Cosmetics presents seductive minimalist dance music is good enough to hook anyone after one listen. With S&M tinged titles "Soft Skin" and "Black Leather Glove", it’s no surprise that sex plays a role in the music. However, instead of using not-too-discreet Prince-like references to 'the act', the Cosmetics’s approach is more indirect and a lot more subtle; with the sensual feeling being mostly set by the tone of the music rather than sexually explicit lyrics. With a throbbing electro bassline and bare-bones percussion reminiscent of The Raveonettes’s "Aly Walk With Me", no doubt both tracks on the 7" could easily fit into a Dj rotation at one of those crazy underground dance parties where pretty much anything goes.. Not to say the lyrics aren’t sultry, because they are. Aja Emma’s whispered lines of "I get a feeling of pleasure / when I wear black leather" is enough to put anyone in the mood, however the soft drum-machine cymbal claps and sustained synth buzzs gives the song just as much appeal as the smoky vocals.. Whaoh !!

Artist : Cosmetics

Label : Captured Tracks

sleepwalking / 7"

Spooky synth-pop, darkwave gem from the hotly tipped Cosmetics on the Captured Tracks imprint (home to Silk Flowers, Blank Dogs and Gary War, among others). On both tracks they favour a sensuous mid-tempo pulse with snaky, druggy and swirling synths providing the main attraction next to Aja Emma's disaffected vocals. Find a darker spot between Villa Nah and Nite Jewel and you're there. And on clear vinyl too..!

set your goals

Artist : Cosmic Force

Label : Clone

set your goals / 12"

proposition pour une conclusion musicale au vingtième siècle

Artist : Cosmodrome

Label : Gooom

proposition pour une conclusion musicale au vingtième siècle / LP

Clearly 70's and 80's inspired album released in 1998 and ruled by the sounds of Kraftwerk, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Suicide or even Jean Jacques Perrey. Cosmodrome created great minimal and analog pieces of music with efficient cold and harsch melodies. Rare French Shit !

pile ou face / vaughan

Artist : Crash

Label : Poutre Apparente

pile ou face / vaughan's ballad / 7"

After the release of Philippe Doray’s lp "Nouveaux Modes Industriels" and Ilicht’s lp "10 Suicides", Thierry Müller (aka Ruth) and Philippe Doray (both great readers of JG Ballard) decided to work jointly on a project for concerts : Crash was born. The 2 tracks “Pile ou Face” and “Vaughan’s Ballad” on this 7” were recorded in 1984 and both are great. “Pile ou Face” is purely electronic and a slow piece of typical French minimal electro melancholy. “Vaughan’s Ballad” is a great instrumental piece featuring lovely guitars and simple lead synth and great synth effects, simply perfectly entertaining and fun to listen to. So far, definitely the best release on Poutre Apparente ;)

signals from pier thirteen

Artist : Crash Course In Science

Label : Dark Entries

signals from pier thirteen / 12"

Crash Course In Science are a post-punk band that formed in 1979 in Philadelphia. The band members, Dale Feliciello, Mallory Yago and Michael Zodorozny, met while attending art school. They began to experiment with crude electronics and off-beat writing. CCIS avoids conventional instrumentation by using toy instruments and kitchen appliances to augment the distorted guitar, drums and synthesized beats. Their 1st single, "Cakes In The Home" was released in 1979 and their 4-song 12" ep 'Signals From Pier Thirteen' in 1981. Pier 13 was an abandoned coal-loading pier along the Delaware River near where CCIS rehearsed. The band went there often and was inspired by the huge silent machinery, shapes, shadows, ghosts and debris. The songs 'Cardboard Lamb' and 'Flying Turns' quickly became club favorites during the early 80's. This ep's raw, percussive sound influenced both techno and industrial music in later years. CCIS feel a strong connection to Throbbing Gristle, although they consider themselves as working in a parallel universe rather than being influenced by them. The vinyl is housed in the original jacket featuring stark black and white photos of Pier 13. Each LP includes a double sided 11x11 insert with lyrics, photos of the band and the atmospheric pier. Crash Course In Science go above and beyond what is considered 'new-wave' in attitude and sound..

jump over barrels

Artist : Crash Course In Science

Label : Dark Entries

jump over barrels / 12"

Crash Course In Science are a post-punk band formed in 1979 in Philadelphia. The band members, Dale Feliciello, Mallory Yago and Michael Zodorozny met while attending art school. They began to experiment with crude electronics and off-beat writing. CCIS avoids conventional instrumentation by using toy instruments and kitchen appliances to augment the distorted guitar, drums and synthesized beats. Their 1st single "Cakes In The Home" was released in 1979 and their 4-song 12" ep 'Signals From Pier Thirteen' in 1981. 'Jump Over Barrels' was recorded at the Third Story Studio in Philadelphia in 1981, one year after 'Signals From Pier Thirteen'. The songs remained unmixed and unreleased at that time for a proposed album titled 'Near Marineland'. Lyrically the song tackles overcoming obstacles, be them self imposed or otherwise with vocals interplay between Michael and Mallory. On A-side are the original mix and a demo mix from 1981. Then on the flip is a brand new remix by prolific Ann Arbor producer Charles Manier, a pseudonym of Tadd Mullinix, who toughens up the track. Also included is an unreleased demo version of the song from 1980, possibly at its rawest and stripped down skeleton. Housed in a custom-made jacket by our in-house designer Eloise Leigh that incorporates abstract barrel symbols rolling in different positions with the jumping squiggles also changing accordingly riffs of synth knobs and sound wave visuals.

situational awareness

Artist : Crash Course In Science

Label : Electronic Emergencies

situational awareness / LP

With 'Situational Awareness', post-punk legends Crash Course In Science deliver a 10 track album consisting entirely of brand new material. The songs on 'Situational Awareness' sound crisp and ultra-fresh, while the band from Philadelphia, USA, maintains their distinctive DiY sound created by toys, kitchen appliances and self-built synths. Far beyond new wave, the music is experimental and danceable at the same time - science and art, together hand in hand !

every sunday

Artist : Crazy Gang

Label : Flexx

every sunday / 12"

Repress. The original Crazy Gang album got released in 1983, 2 of the stand out tracks have been taken from it for this 12", remastered and extended. Produced by Claudio Simonetti (some of the most memorable italo-disco productions and one of the founding members of cult-horror band Goblin), along with 2 fellow Goblin members (Walter Martino and Massimo Morante). "Every Sunday" is a unique blend of horror-disco and robot electro. Deep vocoders in contrast with the child chorus turn this into a dark and intense track, surely one of Simonetti's most electronic productions and an obvious wink to his Goblin background. The original recording has been extended to 8 minutes, exclusive to this 12". "Telephone Computer" is a quirky electronic disco track with a bassline that sounds almost like EBM, which still has a very modern feel to it. Includes the original album version plus a more Dj and dancefloor friendly edit. Delicious italo electro !

erase in mind ep

Artist : Creepy Autograph

Label : Valentine Connexion

erase in mind ep / 12"

Massively intriguing Detroit gear from the mysterious Creepy Autograph for Valentine Connexion Records. There's an absolute minimum of information available on these guys and this record, so all I can tell you is that it's some of the finest midnight Detroit electro soul we've heard since The Other People Place or the coldest gear since Dopplereffekt tried to stick it in a mannekin. Totally sick and deliciously mysterious, get into this dope stuff...

murder sex

Artist : Creepy Autograph

Label : Valentine Connexion

murder sex / 7"

Proper killer retro 313 electro from the shadowy Creepy Autograph. Weirdly enough it's three tracks of purest Detroit club tackle pressed up on a 7", the label sticker informs us "all tracks recorded in Detroit 1996" and all we can tell you is that it's pretty fuckin' sick, basically uptempo hard hitters. You don't need to know no more. Run to that plate already sold out everywhere ;)

never enough

Artist : Cult Club

Label : Domestica

never enough / 12"

Cult Club is the musical project of Berlin artists Sally Jřrgensen and László Antal. It was formed shortly after Sally and László realized that they could no longer spend their days draped over the couch drinking Pálinka and listening to "Axel F" on repeat. They then decided to put to use their god's gift of talent they so uniquely acquired, and formed Cult Club. Their interest in melodic oldies songs and electro pop singles became the driving influence for their musical collaboration. They wanted to create a sound that made the people as mad and wild on the dancefloor just as it did for the neighbours who couldn't stand listening to Sally and László s music blaring in the apartment complex. Having a mirrored background in the arts, design, film and performance world, Sally and László decided to create a collaborative project that combined their musical and artistic backgrounds into one. Diy art films and electro pop is the by-product. Edition of 350 units, includes an insert with lyrics and additional information. Hand-printed with letterpress.

play with lies

Artist : Cult Club

Label : Domestica

play with lies / LP

Cult Club is a Berlin-based electro-pop duo. Sally Jřrgensen is from Canada & László Antal is from Serbia. Their similar diverse backgrounds in the creative arts and their love for analogue imagery and pop melodies inspired them to collaborate together. Together their songs range from a dreamy, soft sound to harder driving pop songs. Sally's vocals are layered in a harmony of different sounds and melodies over László's fretless, bass driven music. Their debut ep 'Never Enough' was released on December 14th 2015, on Domestica Records. It featured an extended version of their most popular dream-pop song "All The People" to contrast the more chilling cold song versions of "Never Enough". Their full-length album 'Play With Lies' continues to feature sad, dream-pop songs such as "Call My Name" while also containing some straight up pop tracks such as "Play With Lies" and "Talk To Me". Limited to 350 copies with double-sided printed insert and 350gr heavyweight sleeve.. Tip !!

enormous savages

Artist : Cultural Amnesia

Label : Anna Logue Records

enormous savages / LP

Previously unreleased material from this cult band from the UK. All songs on this LP date from 1981 - 1983. Cultural Amnesia had a very unique sound of their own, influenced by post-punk and industrial music and attitude. A must have for any fan of innovative and daring 80's (electronic) music !

black ships ate the sky

Artist : Current 93

Label : Durtro / Jnana Records

black ships ate the sky / 2x12"

Import double vinyl lp pressing of the 2006 album from the experimental collective headed by David Tibet (the band's only constant member). Along with Coil and Nurse With Wound, Current 93 have managed to stay ahead of any musical trends by remaining outside of them. Musically the most beautiful Current 93 album since "Thunder Perfect Mind", in lyrical atmosphere "Black Ships" is closer to "Lucifer Over London". The lyrics are a constant flow of shifting images, and at one point it even sounds like Tibet is getting political for perhaps the first time. This change from his usual demeanor makes a far more convincing attack on corruption than that of some always-angry punk band... but the feeling of impending apocalypse predominates, as usual !

Artist : Cute Heels

Label : Gooiland Elektro

untitled / 12"

Cute Heels has been called 'the new blood and spirit for the next step in techno music' by electro/techno pioneer Juan Atkins. If he is or not is not the question here, as Cute Heels delivers a solid ep filled with industrial, EBM and techno influenced electro. Tunes with a pounding rhythm demanding you to move.. ;)

Artist : Cute Heels

Label : Dark Entries

spiritual / LP

Cute Heels is the solo project of Victor Lenis, a contemporary artist living in Brussels, Belgium. He grew up in Bogotá, Columbia during the 90's, surrounded by the radial punk scene. He has been working with many electronic projects since 2003. He manages the label Black Leather Records, which is also a regular party with live acts and dj sets. Over the years, Victor's passion and fascination for synthesizers and drum machines to produce and compose resulted in various digital-only releases as well as his 1st vinyl release, an ep on Gooiland Elektro. Cute Heels is ready to release their debut album 'Spiritual' of all new material written throughout 2013. 'Spiritual', rides the line between cold electro-techno and left field electronic body music. Inspired by equal parts Liaisons Dangereuses and Drexciya, 'Spiritual' takes the listener on a journey over 8 tracks and 40 minutes of music. Cute Heels has been called 'the new blood and spirit for the next step in techno music' by electro/techno pioneer Juan Atkins. Listening to 'Spiritual' you can see why. The songs on this full length reveal a sublime influence from Detroit techno, early Chicago house and new-wave. Advanced electronics for the dancefloor, pumping and sophisticated. The album was recorded and mixed by Victor at Sensorium Studio in Zagreb, Croatia in november 2013. Each LP is packaged in a custom-made jacket by our in-house designer Eloise Leigh and incorporates the geometry of analog synthesizers and celestial rose patterns..

Cool 12" !

Cylob returns with the first in a series of ep’s for the Rephlex stable, following on from the more experimental Gameland soundpieces of “Mood Bells lp". “Music System” sees a return to a more spannered 8-bit dancefloor vibe, an electroid funk of an acidic, crunchy nature that taps into the rave mode. Whaoh !

traitement de choc

Artist : D.Stop

Label : Desire Records

traitement de choc / 10"

Founded in september 1981 in Orléans (France), D. Stop formed to dedicate themselves to a kind of 'modern punk rock'. They then self-released a 1st 7" the following year entitled 'Traitement De Choc', here reissued with extra tracks. After their first 7", Sonny Brailleur (vocals), Phil Lethon (guitar/bass) and Klod Lelook (organ, synths, drum-machines), inspired by French band Metal Urbain, stylistically transformed into a more synth punk outfit and released their 1st mini-album 'Nouvelles du Front' in september 1983. By late 1984 the band already ceased to exist, changing their name to Les Visiteurs du Soir, turning their back to their old name in 1985 by releasing a limited edition cassette. Despite the very few releases by this gifted act, D. Stop are considered to be one of the most interesting and under-rated cult acts in French coldwave scene. For fans of Metal Urbain, D.A.F., Screamers, Devo, etc. Limited to 270 copies on clear vinyl with 2-sided insert; 350g heavy cardboard sleeve and download coupon..

Dada Pogrom on 'Apocalypso' leaves us with the idea that the world of darkness is not only a wonderful place to visit but it is a universe filled with elegant and vicious synth pop melodies. From Iceland we have Dada Pogrom who has sculpted a well rounded dance 12" with 'Apocalypso'. Other artists that we have come to enjoy from the tiny island up north are Björk, Singapore Sling, Sigur Ros and Mum. Dada Pogrom also brings us gloom and doom, which has been synonymous with Icelandic pop. Don't ask me why but I believe it is because of the thermal. It has got to be. Released in 2005 !

tech noire

Artist : Dada Pogrom

Label : Beatkamp Inc.

tech noire / 12"

Dada Pogrom seek to evoke and express the darkness that surrounds all the works of man and nature. The universe is entropical at all levels of its existence and according to the current cosmological theorems, are finite and limited. As the days of a man's life are limited, so too are those of a star, galaxy, a world, and a civilization. Within the chaos that is everything however, there exists the order of force and time, an order that governs all entropy and is the very root of beauty, This is Dada Pogrom and this is Tech Noire. Based in both Reykjavik & Toronto, Dada Pogrom draws influences from computer science, Royal Conservatory training, multi-media forms, and composes analogue music with an electronic attitude. Techno, lounge, and drum & base are presented in 'Tech Noire'. Short film direction: 'Varga One' & 'The Path Well Trod by Phileas Fogg also add to the repertoire and his musical lineage stems from Sigvaldi Kaldalons & Selmu Kaldalons, two highly acclaimed Icelandic composers of secular music. Dada Pogrom was signed in 2004 to Beatkamp Inc. where "Deja Voodoo" was recorded at The Warehouse in Vancouver and was produced by Anthony Fu Valcic (Marilyn Manson, Skinny Puppy). Released in 2002 !

compass kum

Artist : Dalek I

Label : Medical Records LLC

compass kum'pas / LP+7"

Originally released in 1980, 'Compass Kum'Pas' was the debut album by the Liverpool duo consisting of Alan Gill and Dave Hughes. The early incarnations of the band featured David Balfe (later in The Teardrop Explodes) and Andy McCluskey (later to form O.M.D.). Alan Gill also was a member of The Teardrop Explodes at one point down the line. The LP was critically acclaimed but unfortunately flew under the radar in terms of revenue generation. Medical Records presents this seminal work on vinyl for the 1st time in over 30 years. The album can best be described as a pastiche of passionate synth-pop and highly restrained post-punk. At times very danceable pop is sharply contrasted with moody synth and vocal passages shrouded in a thick cloud of melancholy. The track "Destiny (Dalek I Love You)" is a highly catchy synth hit and was a 7" single at the time. "8 Track" tells the peculiar tale of the love affair with a piece of recording equipment. "Freedom Fighters" grabs you with sharp synth hooks and drags you to the dancefloor. The cover version of "You Really Got Me" is a very stripped down and restrained interpretation with angular chopped guitar. The LP is a synergistic cross between the stylings of early O.M.D. synth-pop, minimalist post-punk guitar, and a likeness to the piecemeal song structure of Van Dyke Parks. LP includes a bonus insert with early photos and a special written piece on the band. As an extra to the LP, a bonus flexi-disc is included that includes the B-sides "Happy" and "This Is My Uniform". Presented with much love on high-quality 180gram hot pink vinyl in a limited edition of 1000 hand-numbered copies. For fans of early analog synth-pop ;)

Summer snapshots offering feelgood cool through the phattest basslines to groove the night away to. Need we say more ? Classic...

castro boy

Artist : Danny Boy & The Serious Party Gods

Label : Panama Records

castro boy / 12"

Viewlexx comes with another obscure disco gem from the crates of I-f. Nasty disco from the early 80's. "Castro Boy" is a really warped take on Frank Zappa's classic "Valley Girl" (on the LP 'Ship Arriving Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch'). A seriously hard edged disco/hi-nrg tune with some very x-rated lyrics. So you thought LCD soundsystem is cool and all.. well check out this one... Note that this record can be shocking for some people!

eagles in the night

Artist : Dario Dell'Aere

Label : Dark Entries

eagles in the night / 12"

Dario Dell'Aere is a new-wave musician, producer and singer from Milan, Italy. At the end of the 70's Dario performed in a mime show influenced by the glam cliches of David Bowie. In 1979, he met Victor Life outside a cinema, and began a lifelong collaboration of projects: Diamond Dogs, Ice Eyes and Fockewulf 190. Musically, the duo were inspired by the Human League's 'Reproduction' and John Foxx's 'Metamatic', while they took visual cues from the new romantics Visage and Ultravox. With the Fockewulf 190 moniker, they created their own dark blend of italo-disco and new-wave, and released the hit singles "Gitano" and "Body Heat" in 1984. At the end of 1984, the duo took a break, and Dario went into the studio to record his debut solo single. "Eagles In The Night" was released in 1985 on Market Record, and is one of the most coveted italo-disco 12"s. Clocking in at over 8-minutes, the song features xylophone-esque synth hooks and Dario's powerful, booming vocals. Dario sings of a spirit that flies on high, searching for a partner in true love. Backing vocals were provided by Dario's sister, Nora Dell'Aere. On the B-side is a shorter instrumental version with the occasional 'oh wacky co-co' from Dario. The sleeve is an exact replica of the original 1985 edition, which features a black and white drawing by Dario's wife, Tiziana Dell'Aere. Each copy includes a double-side postcard insert with lyrics and notes.

Artist : Dark Day

trapped / 12"

To introduce this artist (aka Robin Crutchfield), let us tell you its "Window" lp from 1982 is among the all time top ten minimal electronics records for sure and still on many wantlists. This 12" ep is said to be Robin’s favourite work. Steven Brown from Tuxedomoon does perform as well. Anyway, Dark Day vinyls belong to any collection of minimal electro-wave, so grab it while you can !

Artist : Dark Day

Label : Dark Entries

window / LP

Following the 1st few incarnations and various lineups of Dark Day; 1981 saw the direction of the project morphed into an electronic keyboard duo of Robin Crutchfield and Bill Sack with an album of 9 songs originally released on Plexus Records. Lyrics were inspired by various sources including occult texts by Colin Wilson and art by Leger, Bruegel, Malevich, Man Ray, Duchamp and Jean Cocteau. The mechanized sound of "Window" is less one of the man machine robots in charge of Kraftwerk than man at the mercy of his machines. The infectiously-engaging toy-like instruments captured the ears of fans worldwide with popcorn drum rhythms. A Synare borrowed from Jeff and Jane Hudson lent a "Bette Davis Eyes" homage and crack to the percussion on the percolating tracks. The instant polaroid images, an homage to Japanese recording artist Susan of "The Girl Can’t Help It" adorned the album sleeve in 2 stark headshots of musicians at work, haunted by the unseen. Is the window something you look out, or in? You must answer that question.. 3rd repress edition release!

exterminating angel

Artist : Dark Day

Label : Dark Entries

exterminating angel / LP

Huge reissue of Dark Day's 1st album 'Exterminating Angel' originally released in 1980 on Lust/Unlust. Dark Day is the minimal electronics brainchild of Robin Crutchfield following his separation with no-wave band DNA. Growing up in rural Pennsylvania, Crutchfield was fascinated with both performance art and the most esoteric edges of pop music. After making his escape to New York City in the mid-70's, he was inspired by Yoko Ono's Plastic Ono Band and Lydia Lunch's Teenage Jesus & The Jerks. He made the transition into the new music of downtown Manhattan and formed the no-wave band DNA with Arto Lindsay and Ikue Mori in 1977. In 1979 Crutchfield left DNA to pursue a series of musical projects under the name Dark Day. His 1st album, 'Exterminating Angel' is named after the Luis Bunuel film of the same name. All 13 songs on this LP use cheap synthesizers to create cyclical, machine-like keyboard riffs as a foundation for the moody, Teutonic music. Crutchfield sings like a lost member of Kraftwerk with a dry detachment creating a starker and chillier atmosphere. Lyrics were derived from cut-up methods similar to those used by the surrealists, fluxus artists, and William Burroughs and Bryon Gysin and pit the subjected against their torments and tormentors. All songs on 'Exterminating Angel' were originally recorded at Sorcerer Sound, NYC. 1979 and produced by Charles Ball. Each LP includes a two-sided fold out poster containing lyrics, photos and lyrical explanations by Robin Crutchfield. Dark Day continue to inspire the current wave of stark, eerie, processional synthesizer music more than 30 years later. Must-Have!

hands in the dark

Artist : Dark Day

Label : Dark Entries

hands in the dark / 12"

Dark Day is the minimal electronics brainchild of Robin Crutchfield following his separation with no-wave band DNA. For the 1st incarnation of Dark Day, Robin recruited Nina Canal from The Gynecologists and later UT on guitar and Nancy Arlen from Mars on drums. They recorded 2 songs for a 7″ single, released in 1979 on Charles Ball's Lust/Unlust label. Off-kilter jerk-like guitar and energetic acrobatic tom-tom tumbling fuse with queasy lurching keyboards and 'cold medicine' vocals. This single stepped away from no wave towards what was going on in the U.K. with The Normal, Robert Rental and Throbbing Gristle. After this single Dark Day would regroup with Robin on synthesizers and vocals, Phil Kline on guitar, Barry Friar on drums and guest Steven Brown of Tuxedomoon on saxophone to record the 'Exterminating Angel' album. In 1981, the song "Trapped" was released as a 12" ep backed with "The Exterminations (1 Thru 6)". For these 6 instrumental tracks, Robin went back into the studio with the master tapes, flipped them over and played them backwards. Altering track assignments, speed and reverb effects, he rode the faders in and out, creating short "Exterminations" of the original songs. The result is Crutchfield's favorite Dark Day release. The vinyl comes housed in jacket featuring a self-made cartoon of Robin Crutchfield to announce the release of the 7" in 1979. Each LP includes a double sided 11×17 fold-out poster with lyrics and photos and song notes by Robin and Nina Canal. Dark Day continue to inspire the current wave of stark, eerie, processional synthesizer music more than 30 years later ;)

Artist : Dark Like A Restaurant

Label : Domestica

sight / 10"

Dark Like A Restaurant grew out of a number of experimental bands working in the Dallas area in 1979-80. In the wake of the Sex Pistols show at the Bronco Bowl (1978), an entire scene grew up in Dallas that was part punk, part proto-new wave. One of these bands was Boys Life, which contained 2 of the 3 members of the later Dark Like A Restaurant (only Roland TR808 was not in Boys Life). Rex Koontz played guitar and sang. Boys Life was fronted by Jaime Lagarella (keyboards & voice), later an important producer and engineer; Bob Green (bass, later of The Grassy Knoll), and Jeff Zilm (drums, currently a painter and previously of the Comateens). Boys Life never recorded but played several important shows at the premier Dallas experimental showcase the Hot Klub. After Boys Life disbanded without a recording, Dark Like a Restaurant formed to showcase Koontz's stripped synth and guitar sound and his increasing obsession with the hypnotic rhythms of the then new Roland TR808 drum machine. The combination of minimal synth foundations and a floating, haunting guitar sound served as the calling card for the band. Limited edition of 320 numbered copies only & including a leaflet..

Artist : Darxus / Ulusoy

Label : Robodust

elektrosucht / 12"

Debut release on the belgian Robodust label, the duo delivers 6 captivating pieces of roboter dark and throbbing electro, in the vein of Kommando 6. These future-electro smashers dive into the dark dreams of the 80‘s and the deepness of science-fiction movies with deep anthemic synth sounds, monster growling bass lines and multiple sonic effects. A really good piece !

Artist : Das Ding

h.s.t.a. / LP

A full length album by Dutch electro pioneer, Das Ding. Das Ding is Danny Bosten, who was active in the early 80's releasing his music and friends music via his own cassette label called Tear Apart Tapes. While studying graphic design in art school, he designed all the tape covers himself. Meanwhile, he recorded his own music as Das Ding. Powerful dark electro, some tracks are quite addictive and danceable while others are more for at home listening enjoyment. The dancefloor killer is somewhere between "Reassurance Ritual" and "H.S.T.A.". The record features lovingly remastered tracks, and is pressed on 180 gram vinyl with a printed inner sleeve featuring Danny's drawings... Repress ;)

why is my life so boring? / LP

Great debut release for Electronic Emergencies hailing from Rotterdam! They present their 1st release, a new album of Dutch coldwave legend Das Ding: 'Why Is My Life So Boring?' It's a brand new 10-track album, which sounds crisp and young in the club and mature when you play it at home. Das Ding has always had that certain thing; strict and detached beats combined with warm melancholic melodies, emotionally distant and intense at the same time. The sound is clearly analogue and very specific since Danny Bosten (aka Das Ding) rebuilds his vintage synths and builds his own sequencers and modular systems. The album was mastered by Alden Tyrell. It's the 1st album release of Das Ding after the brilliant 80's album 'H.S.T.A.' released on Minimal Wave records. Tip ! (sleeveless version !)

Artist : Das Ding

Label : Midlight Records

sequencer / 10"

Das Ding, one of the legends of Rotterdam, has been going since the early 80's with his label Tear Apart Tapes. He had releases on the finest of imprints such as Minimal Wave. Now Midlight will issue a some heat by the artist in subject with pride. These excerpts from Das Ding's modular techno setup were originally released on cassette by Dehef in 2014, a most fine small imprint from Rotterdam.

nerd / intermission

Artist : Das Ding

Label : Tear Apart Tapes

nerd / intermission / 7"

Danny Bosten's Das Ding project is no newcomer to the scene. In fact, the Dutch pseudo electro artist has been active since the mid 80's via his quirky Tear Apart Tapes label, dealing specifically in cassettes until this new 7". "Nerd" is one of those tunes that crosses many genres and paths, taking the spirit of Kraftwerk and placing it onto a new plateau that is both relevant and inclusive of contemporary styles and ideas.. That bassline could be left on for hours on end! "Intermission" is similarly leftfield, except that here Bosten scraps the buzzy bassline in favour of more tranquil sounds and samples that edge on the Japanese end of the spectrum. Very recommended !!

missing tapes

Artist : Das Ding

Label : Minimal Wave

missing tapes / LP

Strong album of long lost tracks by Dutch electronic music pioneer Das Ding, entitled 'Missing Tapes'. Danny Bosten formed Das Ding as a solo project in the early 80's and released his music and friends' music via his own cassette label called Tear Apart Tapes. At the time, he was studying graphic design at art school, and in turn he ended up designing the artwork, cassette-sleeves and illustrations for the label himself. Meanwhile, he recorded his own music as Das Ding. Powerful dark electro, he made several addictive and danceable tracks which later become hits. Danny made all his music in his bedroom which essentially turned into a small recording studio. He went on to release many of his own tapes and also played some live gigs. Old tapes were uncovered around 2010, and MW released a remastered version of 'H.S.T.A.' and select other tracks. A wave of renewed interest followed the record's release and soon people were in touch to propose live shows. 20 years later, and after some deliberation, Das Ding was reincarnated under its old moniker but now with a revised line-up and a working set-up that reflected inevitable technological change. Recently, Danny came across further tape archives from those early days. And from the batch, MW selected their favorites to present us in vinyl release form. 'Missing Tapes' is a limited edition LP pressed on 180gr creamy yellow vinyl, and housed in a heavy weight printed glossy black and white sleeve featuring one of Danny's original illustrations from 1982. Essential !

dream decay

Artist : Das Ding

Label : Tear Apart Tapes

dream decay / 7"

Since Minimal Wave released a fine compendium of his early 80's work as Das Ding back in 2009, Danny Bosten has become something of a cult artist. His latest missive on the re-born Tear Apart Tapes label is a tasty 7" featuring 2 new, all-analogue jams in his distinctive style. The title track is a boisterous and cheerily melodious affair, sitting somewhere between leftfield instrumental synth-pop and glistening italo-disco. Flipside "16 (New Mix)" is slower and more contemplative. It features bold electro bass, hip-hop tempo drum machine percussion, drowsy chords and woozy synthesizer melodies. It's the kind of analogue electronica that boasts a timeless quality, despite its contemporary construction.

Artist : Das Ding

Label : Minimal Wave

kindheitsmuster / 7"

7” single of 2 early demos ("Kindheitsmuster" and "Raid") by Dutch electronic music pioneer Das Ding. The final versions of these tracks were released on 'H.S.T.A.' and the 'Missing Tapes', respectively. The versions here are the most raw and electric recordings we have heard by Das Ding yet. Powerful dark electro, he made several addictive and danceable tracks which later become Minimal Wave hits. The 'Kindheitsmuster / Raid' 7" is pressed on black vinyl, featuring a photograph that Danny Bosten took during his art school days, and the inspiration for the cover drawing of the 'H.S.T.A.' cassette release from 1982. The 7" is limited to 500 numbered copies.

leidenschaft und produktion

Artist : Das M

Label : Hertz-Schrittmacher

leidenschaft und produktion / LP

Das M is a solo project of a guy calling himself Sinusforscher and coming from Austria. He released some cassettes only in the early 90’s. He produces a lovely mixture of analogue electro-pop and electro with German lyrics and makes use of some of the usual suspects of analogue synthesisers and drum machines. The songs are spacey, catchy, minimalistic with some having a strong reference to Kraftwerk, but you can clearly feel that he never cared much about success or fashions and simply recorded the music he likes. For all fans of pure analog sounds !

ist das wirklich nötig ?

Artist : Das M

Label : Hertz-Schrittmacher

ist das wirklich nötig ? / 10"

Excellent release by Das M. His first lp on Kernkrach featured new material but this 10" consists of tracks from the tapes the artist released himself in the early 90's in very limited editions. Of course it features the cult hit "Vergeude Nicht Deine Jahre" but this is not by far the best track on the record (although it is a very good one). Pieces like "Schneller Sein" and "Flohwalzer" are simply fantastic minimal electro-pop tracks with a touch of NDW and even as they are sounding happy they have a hint of melancholy all around them. A must have for fans of lo-fi diy electro pop. Be aware that the track “Vergeude Nicht Deine Jahre” is a bit affected by a little scratch all along the track, due to mispress on the whole stock (333 copies)... ;)

vom tanzboden in den narrenturm

Artist : Das M

Label : Hertz-Schrittmacher

vom tanzboden in den narrenturm / 12"

A compilation of tape recordings dated 1994-1995, inspired by Der Plan and Andreas Dorau. The artist himself describes this phase of his musical work as "Neue Deutsche Niedlichkeit" ("New German Cuteness"), which accounts very well for the naive charm and playfulness in both themes and music. Still, Das M's songwriting and wonderful sense for catchy melodies are here just as effective as on his other albums, and his style remains quite unmistakable. So, don't miss it!

could you find your analog mind? / LP

Can you believe that in former Yugoslavia existed some people who were making edits and remixes without using MIDI or PC? Can you believe these same people were making their original synth-pop stuff under the influence of Yellow Magic Orchestra and Logic System? Yes, it is true. These were Zoran Jevtic and Zoran Vracevic, the pioneers of electronic music in former Yugoslavia. With groups Šizike and The Master Scratch Band they brought minimal electronic and breakbeat to their former country. However, with their original band from 1981 called Data they created the most thrilling electronic. You can find their finest works in 'Could You Find Your Analog Mind?' issued by Belgrade's Discom label. It is an LP compilation with 12 previously unreleased tracks made between 1981 & 1984. It contains the 1st ever remixes made in former Yugoslavia and obscure synth-pop made under the influence of Japanese scene ! Transparent blue vinyl, limited to 500 copies; 80's cover design, list of equipment.. Analog addicts and crate diggers don't miss this beauty!

Being released on his very own Bombshelter Records (though heavily supported by Das Drehmoment) it seems quite to be an effort of making a conceptual minimal danse-pop record. “Monumental” is a sequencer driven killer minimal-electro-pop-retro-dance track with lots of 80’s nostalgia (sampled Korg KR-55). “The only Place I go” was already featured on Das Drehmoment’s double lp “Rückwärts Im Uhrzeigersinn” but comes here as a cool remix version to match the concept. “Love’s tainted Love” rings up a bell : very strong similarities to “Young Hearts of Europe” by U-Bahn X. Last track is a cool cover version of Trooper’s “Boys In the Bright White Sports Car” in the aforementioned style, of course. Limited to 300 copies only.. Be fast on this killer one !

the aviatrix

Artist : Datasette

Label : Echoecho

the aviatrix / 12"

After releasing his first lp on Ai Records in 2008 we proudly welcome Datassette on Echoecho. Let´s just say that this is the outcome of an interference of majestic strings, amazing basslines and deeply com-pounded beats. Besides rocking the dancefloor Mr Davies definitely knows how to draw attention with his craft. These thrilling compositions reach from the hymnic “The Aviatrix” to the laidback and atmospheric “Micro” and back to the superior and bassheavy “Humans” before ending with the melancholic piece of “Weather Conditions”. Datassette conveys a large variety of influences which create his absolutely outstanding deep sound. In other words he manages to merge the atmosphere of then and the vision of now to transfer the sound onto his own bright level. Fantastic..

china girl

Artist : David Bowie

Label : EMI

china girl / 7"

"China Girl" is a song co-written by David Bowie and Iggy Pop during their years in Berlin, first appearing on Pop's album "The Idiot" (1977). However, it was not popularized until it was rerecorded and released by Bowie on his album "Let's Dance" (1983). Under the auspices of Nile Rodgers, the song was given a much more commercial sheen than Pop's darker, more roughly-produced version. It continues the theme established in the video for "Let's Dance". The song was again edited for single release, but attracted more attention for its striking video. David Mallet’s clip, shot mainly in the Chinatown district of Sydney. The latter's bared buttocks caused the video to generate some lurid tabloid headlines, though the clip went on to win an MTV award. The UK single release reached #2 for one week on June 14, 1983. The US release reached #10. The song was a regular for Bowie's live shows for the rest of the '80s. Tip ;)

micronymph vs. meganymph

Artist : David Kristian

Label : Wikkid

micronymph vs. meganymph / 12"

Montreal wunderkind David Kristian has made a name for himself as the master of all things analog. His latest 12" finds him creating dystopic synth tracks inspired by early new wave, and are in a vein similar to releases on Suction Records or his own earlier work. All 3 tracks evoke the dread and pessimism that pervaded early new wave, combining retro-futuristic synth melodies with oppressive, relentless, skittering beats. An apt soundtrack to late-night future-angst !

oblique strategy / music for the new depression

Artist : David Sinfield / League Of Nations

Label : Anna Logue Records

oblique strategy / music for the new depression / LP+7"

Sometimes, things just happen, rather unexpectedly, as... who has not tried to track down a copy of the 2 records 'For A Moment' (12"EP, Taursus, 1982) and of course, the 'Music For The New Depression' (MLP, Glaze, 1984), from League Of Nations; 2 of those "holy grails" of minimal synth music, so highly sought-after, much money paid for, and eventually bootlegged. And who has not tried to track down this one David Sinfield from somewhere around Los Angeles, USA, the main person behind this one band, the League Of Nations ? Well, neither you found David, nor did we! So what actually happened was... that David found Anna Logue Records, ya, it's as simple as that, sometimes! So, almost exactly 2 years after 1st contact, Anna Logue Records is over the moon to release the complete works of David Sinfield and the early incarnation of League Of Nations. The artwork was designed upon David's remarks on the original design: "the cover of 'Music For The New Depression' was originally to be done on light grey parchment with azure blue letters and thin white shadowing all about. Glass Records thought it would look too much like a "factory" (read Joy Divison product) and changed the colour! Imagine that. The Sinfield album came with a jacket showing a silhouette of New York Harbour (NY Two) with the now destroyed World Trade Center at forefront". Ainstakingly assembled from the original promotional 12"s booklet and other bits by no-one else than Steve Lippert. The audio material was equally painstakingly and delicately restored and mastered by Stefan Bornhorst and sounds nothing but awesome. Limited edition on 180gr vinyl with printed Hansaboard outer sleeve, printed inner sleeves with lyrics, double-sided DIN A3 poster, double-sided maxicard and double-sided DIN A6 postcard with credits. Massive one ;)
