minimal milan

Artist : Various

Label : Minimal Trend Records

minimal milan / 12"

Minimal Trend Records is a new independent label based in Milan, dealing with minimal synth-pop and fusion electronic genres from rising and more confidential artists. With edition activity, it also provides tour management and appears to support actively the world of vinyls. This 1st record is a collection of tracks which represents particular variants of minimal synth, sometimes pushing out the boundaries to embrace musical schemas and sporadic excursions in dark wave, disco-trancedelica and cold driven soundscapes. If I except the work of Oksana Rodionova (aka MarryMe2night and Xiu), we must confess that we previously never heard anything from the projects selected in this compilation. To sum up things Minimal Milan is a beautiful sonic musical voyage built on a sea of minimal waving synth textures with direct reminiscence from the 80's electronic underground within a modern shape..

synth dimension

Label : Radio Cosmos

synth dimension / 2x12"

Robert Maschke produced cover art that should give you a hint of what to expect from this 11 tracks double LP compilation, namely star gazing italo thick on the synthesis and notions of space travel and futurism. Across the 4 sides, 'Synth Dimension' essentially grants a quartet of highly regarded synth explorers 12"s to show their wares with Keen K, Kid Machine, Astro Chicken founder Hyboid and Infinity Night all involved. Limited edition ;)

dummes zeux kann man viel reden

Artist : Various

Label : Schallplatten Aus Lurup

dummes zeux kann man viel reden / 7"

4-track 7"ep compilation including a new-wavey minimal-casio-sound taken from the 1986 Tape 'Cindy S.' from Anti Trust (aka Haiko Herden); also a dancable minimal electro-wave taken from the 1987 Tape 'The End' from The Unrealizable Wish. On B-side we have an extremely catchy kindergarten pop with lovely girl's voice from 1989/90 from Perverse Names & Bottles Of Beer and also a casio-pop lovesong from Cabra (1985), that won't leave your ears for a long time. All 4 tracks are little loveable hits. If you like the '2 Hemden & 2 Hosen' 7" series from Kernkrach, you are also right here to explore nearly unknown minimal gems. Handnumbered edition of 150 copies on coloured vinyl including photo insert and download code ;)

electroconvulsive therapy vol.2

Artist : Various

Label : Medical Records LLC

electroconvulsive therapy vol.2 / LP

For Record Store Day 2014, Medical Records presents 2 exclusive releases celebrating the classic disco of 80's Italy. The 2nd release is a very special compilation of very rare and sought after A & B sides (plus 2 more hand-selected tracks) of 3 italo-disco iconic 12" singles that were originally released on the legendary Fuzz Dance label (a sublabel of Materiali Sonori). This is volume 2 of Medical Records' 'Electroconvulsive Therapy' series which celebrates rare singles in the synth/wave/disco genre. The 1st single needs no introduction to lovers of disco. Trophy "Slow Flight" (vocal + instrumental versions) was released in 1982. A very hard-hitting percussive track with very interesting production that is quite gritty yet smooth with it's vocoded vocals and synth melodies. The 2nd single which is probably the most rare is Zed "Plastic Love" vocal + instrumental versions that were released in 1983. Sultry female vocals and pulsing electro sequences make these 2 versions absolutely essential. The original single is commonly bought and sold in triple digits so both A & B sides were included here. Clocking in at the 3rd position on both sides are the vocal and instrumental versions of "Hesitation" by Mya & The Mirror which is a production by Alexander Robotnick (Maurizio Dami) with female vocals. Also included as bonus tracks at the end of side A & B are Mon Bijou's 'Just A Lover' and Naif Orchestra's "Check Out Five". Both are unstoppably catchy and were released on Fuzz Dance as well in 1984. For fans of classic and the synthy side of italo-disco (i.e. Casco, Sun La Shan, Amin Peck, etc). Remasterd by Mino Cavallo with additional mastering and restoration by Martin Bowes at the Cage, UK. Presented on high-quality 180gr striped 'italian flag' colored vinyl. Very limited edition.

radionome / LP

Valuable re-issue with some classic early synth-pop, minimal electronix taken from VPRO radio sessions in the early 80's (original album was released by VPRO in 1982). 'RadioNome' sounds as amazing today as when it was 1st pressed. With the Madonna of neo-liberalism being laid to rest, the social and political discord created by Thatcherism coursed through Europe in the 80's. Electronic musicians engaged in the global shifts of some 30 years ago. These artists used synthesis to create a binary poetry, employed a circuit-board canvas to paint their discontent and analogue machines to voice their feelings. 'RadioNome' was, and is, a sound of the future, a sound of revolt and a sound of passionate expression. Limited re-issue of 300 copies on the Dutch Blowpipe label.

domestic landscape (subterranean synth-wave compilation)

Artist : Various

Label : Domestica

domestic landscape (subterranean synth-wave compilation) / LP

Difficult to describe this album without using typical and recurring terms such as: 'extremely weird' or 'very rare to find'.. although it is inarguably true, and on this occasion we have wanted to go farther: we introduce you a selection of songs which, most of them, have never been released in physical format and can't be found in any other digital media until nowadays. Other few were published in very limited editions in cassette format, usually aimed at a local promotion of a kind of music which was totally inaccessible to the crowds, more than 30 years ago.. 'Domestic Landscape' is a compilation formed by 10 groups from all over the world. Some names will be familiar to those who have followed Domestica Records from the start in 2011. 'Domestic Landscape' is not a very common or habitual compilation, at least that is what we intended. Here you will find very different sounds, difficult to label, a range of songs made in a moment which is crucial to us, unknown but, at the same time, wonderful in the endless history of our beloved music. Limited edition of 450 numbered copies. Double side handmade printed cover. Album presented in a special die-cut jacket and heavy green cardboard sleeve. It includes an insert (30x30 cm) with extra information..

something cold

Artist : Various

Label : Something Cold

something cold / LP

Something Cold was formed by Justin Carver in 2009, as an ongoing live showcase for minimal-synth, coldwave and industrial sounds in Detroit. With an ever rotating selection of guest Djs and venues, Something Cold continues to bring strange sounds to Detroit, including notable live performances from Crash Course in Science, Salem, White Car, Martial Canterel, LA Vampires, ITAL, Blank Dogs, Mueran Humanos, Zola Jesus, and Innergaze. Something Cold now brings these mysterious frozen sounds to your turntable via this brand new vinyl imprint. Detroit is a city like no other: a bleak, post-industrial wasteland consumes most of the landscape. These ruins breathe a lot of creativity into the artists who immerse themselves in it; the revolutionary sounds of Detroit Techno have proved that to the world. There is very little techno in the sound of Something Cold though, instead a decayed sound that perhaps more accurately depicts the soundtrack of the city's rustbelt. This compilation release showcases acts who have performed at Something Cold over the years, as well as friends and allies who are no strangers to the Something Cold dancefloor. Tracks by local artists Autumus, Deastro, Especially Good, YOU., and Ze Dark Park reveal the sound of decadent nightlife easily found inside the empty corridors of Detroit. Meanwhile, North America's minimal Diy synth explosion is represented by bands from east to west coast, both well-known and completely unheard of: The Present Moment, Further Reductions, Os Ovni, and Subtitles. Each selection on this LP documents the sound of the coldest and most confusing social club of Detroit; this is Something Cold. Limited (and final) vinyl repress (200 copies) of its inaugural 2012 release. Strong !!

bay area retrograde (BART) vol 2

Artist : Various

Label : Dark Entries

bay area retrograde (BART) vol 2 / LP

'Bay Area Retrograde (BART) Volume 2' is Dark Entries' 2nd compilation of underground music from San Francisco (and the greater Bay Area) made between 1978-1983. Towards the end of the 70's, San Francisco's experimental music scene clashed with the aftermath of punk and gave birth to a vibrant underground. By the early to mid 80's the Diy music scene of the Bay Area was a hotbed for experimental and quirky new-wave, post punk, and synthpop, quite similar to New York's no-wave scene and Berlin's Neue Deutsche Welle. This compilation connects the (transit) lines between these varied musical offerings and tells the secret story of eleven forgotten Bay Area bands. 'BART Volume 2' features slow, dystopian horror from pioneering industrial group Factrix; crushing, motorik noise from acid punks Chrome; amphetamine-driven synth punk from Red Asphalt; an early demo, never released on vinyl, from legendary post punk band Tuxedoomon; chilling atmospheric drone from Ki Di Me; leftfield new wave from Indoor Life featuring Patrick Cowley on synths; Los Microwaves more sinister side project Baby Buddha; gay drag icon Timmy Spence delivering an unknown camp classic, a pure instrumental electro-pop workout from Human Being Men; TR-808 fueled synth pop from Menlo Park duo Wonders of Science, and a poetic yet somber and haunting song from the mysterious Zru Vogue. Each LP is housed in a large 6-panel, 2-sided fold out poster designed by Eloise Leigh, featuring original photos and fliers from each band's personal archive plus a 36"x24" print of a photograph by Ruby Ray from 1978. BART is the acronym for Bay Area Rapid Transit, the main rail transportation system for the San Francisco Bay Area. This LP is by no means a definitive compilation but merely opens the tunnel to the underground of the Bay!

des jeunes gens mödernes - volume 2

Artist : Various

Label : Born Bad

des jeunes gens mödernes - volume 2 / LP

The long-awaited follow-up to 'Des Jeunes Gens Mödernes', with 5 killer previously unreleased tracks. Volume 2 continues to explore the vaults of French post-punk, electro-pop, and no wave. Between the late 70's & mid 80's, in the wake of punk wave and in parallel to other types of music like disco, funk, ska, and reggae, a prolific and chaotic music scene began to develop in France, combining the energy of rock and the nihilism of punk with electronic experimentation. The period was not, on the whole, one of optimism and joy, played out as it was against a background of economic crisis and the cold war. A whole section of France's youth found itself confronted by the contradictions of the times it was living in: young people were torn between the sensation of living on the edge of an abyss and hope for the dawning of a new world; they were deprived of tangible ideological landmarks but resistant to the post-hippy utopias of the previous generation. In search of an identity, they recognized themselves in the dark lyrics, the cold synthetic music, and the laid-back attitude of the new groups bursting up all over the country, as much in the provinces as in Paris. 'Des Jeunes Gens Mödernes' (Modern Young Men) reactivates this French post-punk/novo diskö/new- and cold-wave scene, highlighting a cross-section of the specific creative diversity of this scene. The new-wave drew upon artistic avant-garde movements from the past (constructivism, futurism, symbolism, dadaism, socialist realism, and so on), as well as literature (romanticism, science fiction, etc.), cinema (new-wave, German expressionist cinema), and the latest technological advances (electronic, robotic, nuclear). Drawing on traditional culture as well as the underground subcultures to which various magazines and fanzines gave voice. The new-wave embraced all areas of creativity together, and built bridges between the different artistic disciplines (music, visual art, design, literature, cinema...) to an extent never before seen. Includes a 12-page booklet.

pas de deux

Artist : Various

Label : Domestica

pas de deux / LP

We are in 1985, a hectic year for the emerging independent record label Auxilio de Cientos. The company 'offices' are in full performance. There are several projects going on, and the 1st one at international level is no less than a compilation which meets up electronic music groups formed by a couple, a very common tendency these days. A nearly 'conceptual' project in which electronic groups from such distant countries as USA or Germany take part; however, they have a common denominator: all of them are emerging groups in which experimentation and 'resounding risk' is an essential premise in their recordings. Nevertheless, there is a clear homogeneity in their sound. The synth-pop, dark ambient, minimal synth, industrial, techno amongst other musical classifications which later on would become very popular, are revealed in the grooves of 'Pas De Deux'. The selection of artists has been a hard and complex work.. Internet does not exist, Facebook, soundclouds, Instagram, Napster, and many other means which will emerge a few years after that, and which will facilitate the distribution and communication between people are science fiction in 1985. Those young artists and musicians communicate basically through fanzines, 'circles' of friends, independent radio stations, the well-known postcard art and epistolary post! However, there are no barriers to communicate and, eventually, they manage to compile an excellent selection, with themes specially recorded for that occasion. Some of the groups are, at the same time, pioneer in their original countries. That is the case of the Belgian Bene Gesserit (with their recording seal Insane Music), Deux Pingouins (Illusion Production). Both 'labels' will be very active in the following years and they will relatively manage to succeed in their respective countries. We can also talk about the American group Algebra Suicide (formed by a journalist from the Rolling Stone and a radio commenter), the Californian Psyclones, who sometimes remind us of The Residents, Lied and Die Freude, a German duet whose theme is the music of one of their video-performance, or the very young Enhanta Bodlar or the naif sound of the Italian Influenza Prods. 'Pas De Deux' led to Auxilio de Cientos' international taking off as well as a great step forward in the consolidation of an alternative to the 'official' one music prevailing in Spain. Other groups and recording seals were working at a similar level in other cities of the country, and all together brought in a different view, a new sound. Edition of 500 copies !

Label : Medical Records LLC

electroconvulsive therapy vol.3 - obscure singles circa 83-86 / LP

Medical Records continues their unearthing of extremely rare singles in their 'Electroconvulsive Therapy' series. Once again, teaming up with Crispy Nuggets blog, they have assembled yet another collection of long out of print and underground singles and rare tracks. This compilation includes 3 complete A + B sides from 7" singles + 4 other rare songs (2 from cassette, 1 A side of a 7", and 1 track featured on a rare 80's compilation LP). All original tracks are impossible to find for less than a mint on the collector's market. The 1st 2 tracks are by Belgium's Tipical Me from the 'Claustrofobian / Pope No Hope' 7". These 2 tracks are perfect synth-pop in every way. The 2nd artist is UK's Secession, and we have included their debut 7" released in 1983. Though known for their later more electronic based pop and dance tracks, these 2 tracks display their earlier dark beginnings with chilling guitars and a more early 4AD aesthetic. Both tracks from the 7" are included. The 3rd artist is France's Leidenschaft who released one lone 3-song cassette in 1986 with 2 of the tracks featured here. Leidenschaft could loosely be compared to early Clan Of Xymox with French cold wave leanings. The 2 cuts are very atmospheric and lovely indeed. Back to the UK, they included the wonderfully minimal A + B sides of the rare 1984 7" by Black Fantasy. Original copies of this single have been selling for insanely high prices these days. 2 more tracks were also included on this compilation which complete the theme nicely. V.U.D. was an Italian outfit who recorded a track entitled "Look!" which was included on the 'First Relation' compilation LP released in 1983 on Mask Productions and curated by Lisfrank. Quirky and undeniably catchy, we absolutely adore this track as will everybody who hears it. The last track included on this LP is the A side of the rare 1984 7" by UK's Almost Alone entitled "Blue City". Dense and atmospheric synth-pop with definite new romantic tendencies, this track is a perfect closing track for this diverse collection. This collection will certainly appeal to fans of rare minimal synth, early synth-pop, or EBM. This compilation allows anyone who has desired to have one or all of these quite expensive tracks on vinyl in the best sound quality possible. Additional mastering by Martin Bowes at the Cage, UK. This compilation and reissue was specially prepared for Record Store Day 2015 on high-quality 180gr blue & magenta 'half & half' colored vinyl. Limited edition.

synesthesia - the first five years

Label : Medical Records LLC

synesthesia - the first five years / 2x12"

Medical Records is celebrating their 5 year anniversary as well as 50th release! Medical Records was founded sometime in 2007/2008 but released it's 1st double header of reissues in may 2010 with the (at the time) little known Deutsche Wertarbeit (MR-001) and the 1st album by famed italo/synth-pop guru Alexander Robotnick (MR-002). Since the beginning, Medical has pledged to bring back long out of print and lost new-wave, synth, and disco LPs from the 70's & 80's. With an emphasis on high quality heavy vinyl (with a dizzying array of colored wax), these essential records have been made available again at a reasonable price for collectors and new fans to cherish once again. Over time, they expanded their palette to include new artists with a similar aesthetic to our vision as well as crucial 90's reissues in the shoegaze and other unclassifiable genres. With collaborations with Crispy Nuggets, Light In The Attic, and Portland's 2010 Records, the back catalog of releases have spanned much ground. For this 50th release, they have chosen to release their 1st retrospective with a twist. This double LP features a hand-picked selection of tracks intended to highlight our past reissues on the 1st 3 sides. Featuring such standouts as Lou Champagne System, Tony Carey, Gay Cat Park and many more, it is a very nice representative collection. The 4th side of the double LP is a unique collection of our new (contemporary) artists performing specially selected cover versions of tracks featured on our past reissues. Examples include the sultry "We R" performed by Roladex (originally by Chrisma on 'Hibernation') and "Click" performed by Kline Coma Xero (originally by Disco Volante). This collection will surely be a treat for the fans who have been following their evolution over time and will especially prove to be a staple in anyone's collection who would like some of their reissued hits on one concise compilation. All reissue tracks and new tracks have received additional remastering and mastering (the new tracks) by Martin Bowes at the Cage Studios, UK. This collection will appeal to aforementioned lovers/collectors of rare new-wave, private press synth, cosmic/italo disco, vinyl djs, and many more! This double LP is housed in a specially designed gatefold heavy sleeve featuring the Medical logo in a 'color blindness test' on the front with the gatefold filled with thumbnails of all 50 past releases. Presented on high-quality 160gr colored vinyl.

Label : Cold Beats Records

another cold world / LP

Featuring 12 tracks by artists from the underground minimal/synth wave scene whose productions show excuisite taste and character. From Copenhagen, Fremming Karspersen aka Delayscape presents "Trichoir", pure melancholia providing analogue sounds and melodic passages to open the compilation. Jan Jiskra is the name lurking behind the moniker Moduretik which offers up "Struktura I y II", 2 delicious slices of minimal synth. The Gallic Martin Roland also collaborates on our compilation with 2 tracks: "Le Fort De Stain" and "Petit" are 2 precious dreamlike jewels of melodic minimal synth. Ramiro Jeancarlo is Stacatto Du Mal, a self-taught multi instrumentalist and composer, creator of diverse styles which navigate between dark classical-romantic music blended with more industrial sounds, proof of which can be found on the 2 tracks presented on this compilation: "Undeniable Fate" and "Strombist Assignment". Oksana Zmorovych skulks behind the pseudonym Blabarism. The Ukranian inhabits 'Another Cold World' with "Net", a piece of electronica rich in detail and melody. Le Cliché is the synth-wave project of Gerard Ryan based in Barcelona. His music has been described as minimal synth, synth-pop, postmodernist, cold assembly line with neo consumerist themes, based on the use of synth sequences and virtual voices. "Le Musse" is a good example of this. From Toronto, the outfit Memorex carry their grain of sand to the compilation with roots lying in post punk and coldwave on "Electra Furs (In A City Of Glass)" and "Can't Remember". Last but not least, from Italy VDM picks up his analogue synths and drum machines in order to sculp 2 deep and disturbing minimal synth pieces in the shape of "Descent" and "Way Out". Nice comp'

the temptation tapes volume I

Artist : Various

Label : Hommage Records

the temptation tapes volume I / LP

Temptation Records was the label of Tor Dybdahl, vocalist, musician and songwriter in 3 bands who released singles in the mid-to-late 80's : Clockwork Orange, Downers and Horsemen. However, in addition to this, all the bands Tor was in had been recording a lot of material that never saw release in the 80's (including some real classics, on level with the 7" releases if not better still!). Hommage Records and Tor Dybdahl have now made an effort to make the best of this material available for the 1st time. The songs have been remastered from the original 4-track cassettes. Also, some songs had been left unfinished, without vocals. Tor has recorded the vocal parts to some of these for the 1st time. A 10-track LP, vol.1 features the hit songs "December Rain" and "Sensation Boys" alongside 8 totally unheard tracks, recorded between 1983 and 1987.

the temptation tapes volume II / LP

Tor Dybdahl is a relatively unknown man in the general music scene, but he released 3 singles during the 80's on his own independent-label Temptation Records. Some might remember Clockwork Orange “Sensation Boys” that made it as number 2 in 'Singles Of The Year' in Norway in 1985. This single was also given a lot of radio airplay by the Norwegian National Radio, NRK and on local radio stations. When Øystein Moe in 2009 released the compilation Maskindans (Norsk Synth 1980-1988), 3 of Tor's projects were included: Clockwork Orange, Downers and Horsemen. These were among the ones that were picked by bloggers, journalists and radios as some of the better material from it. Something Tor wasn't aware of, was the fact that a new generation of record collectors had started listening to his music, and that the singles he released had gotten a cult status and had become collectors' items in certain niches and scenes around the world. In the 80's, Tor recorded over 100 songs in different studios as well as on his own 4-track studio, and Hommage Records wanted to make some of this unreleased material available. This resulted in the trilogy The Temptation Tapes - Volume I, II & III. Fans of the 80's should simply buy this one ;)

In its short existence Lunatic has managed a wide range of releases. Synth-pop, wonky techno, crumpled acid and even some leftfield house. This trend towards the unknown is being carried into their latest outing with an ep of electro centered sounds. One name will leap from the inner sleeve. Luke Eargoggle hasn't been as prolific as he once was but the Swede is undeniably one of the godfathers of stripped down mechanical machine music in Europe. But for those with an electro eye there are other names that will cause a stir: Kan3da (aka Karl Henrik Skagius) and Weltwirtschaft (aka Karl Lihagenal). "Karl" is a 12” of, well, Karls. Karls from Sweden. Karls collaborating to be more exact, the 1st between Eargoggle & Kan3da. "Icelandic Lady" is cold and driving. Terse beats propel the piece forward, bars ducking and diving beneath the arctic currents. The only individual work sees Kan3da reinterpreting a work of Pettersson's. "Ocean Movers" originally came out on Crème Organization in 2006. The Faceless Mind track is given a biting face-lift. Frost covered and metallic, the track removes man from the equation with the only link to flesh being the distorted words. "Die Ganze Welt" is a less ferocious affair. Bpms drop as a honeyed harmony plinks, the warmer side of colder electronics on show. "Astra" appears to come from nowhere. Female vocals, warbling synth pop cut by claps. For the finale Eargoggle & Kan3da give Jennifer Touch's original a cold shoulder and sly shove. Karl has shown another side of Lunatic. The 12" is electro of the frostier faction but there are moments of warmth coming through to thaw the chill. Dark and bitter sounds from the deepest recesses of the machine minded. 2nd edition !

computered love

Artist : Various

Label : Private Records

computered love / 2x12"

Already tested on 2 festivals in Berlin and smashing. Tracks such as "Gut Bewegen" or "D.I.X.O." made the crowd dance/go mad within one minute. The design leaning to what you were supposed to get from a computer in the 80's. Pixelated screen and line printing, but there something lovely hidden between the lines. Unique computer music art collector item, the music thematizes transforming human love with music into a computer. Or as Carol Rich would said in 1984: 'Computered Love'. 100% vintage productions from the 70's and 80's. Mostly extremely scarce or valuable collector items. Be sure that this computer chip protection bag gimmicks cover release going to be a sought after rarity in the future, too. Including the dope mega sought after title track "Computered Love" by Eurovision act Carol Rich from Switzerland. "XX 4" by $chwarzer Freitag is an unbelievable downtempo drum computer jam that's going to kill every dancefloor around the world. "D.I.X.O." is a timeless synth disco song that's will also work in a techno Dj set. Also included is the 1st time official re-release of the 8 minutes Transvolta "Disco Computer" 12" maxi version as 32 Bits 96khz dubbing of the original master tape. All in all 14 tracks you have to dive in because they are telling the story about computerized love in 3 languages (French, German, English). A romantic bonus story the song "Planet Love" by Mäschi is an extremely scarce 7" private pressing by an underground minimal synth wave musician from Berlin. The song however was produced as gift for his girlfriend in 1982. Nobody knows exactly how many of these original records exist because Jürgen Mäschle already passed away. It's rumoured that at most 10 testpressing copies were pressed. This mega rarity would be reason enough to buy this set because hardly anybody will ever get his hands on an original copy. 2xLP DMM audiophile pressing! + free download + sticker insert. 250 copies (here on black vinyl) !

let's go into space IV / LP

Fantastic compilation featuring: Angela Dean's paralyzing space disco track "World X" is a soundtrack production by Detto Mariano ('Exterminators Of The Year 3000') from 1979. It became a big underground to overground disco hit back in the days. Rendez Vous "My Blue Bird" from 1978, it took 18 months until the holder on the rights were found. The music was produced by Angelo Crisci who won some years after the production of "My Blue Bird" the Eurovision song contest for Belgium with his production Sandra Kim "J'Aime La Vie" in 1986. Love Spirit "Burn The Witch" composer Giorgio Sgarbi unfortunately already passed away. Both the producer of the song and ex manager of WPL records spoke only in the highest tones of him and would like to bring him with his song "Burn The Witch" on LGIS4 back to the mind of music fans. A small memorial for an artist from one of the most important music circles of Germany (Frank Farian, Boney M producer crew). The Primates are nobody less than 70's/80's French superstar Saint Preux. The instrumental version of "King Kong" showing one more time his psychedelic side. Schaltkreis Wassermann contributing the previously unrelased epic downtempo synth track "Space Symphony". Dieter Bührig (aka Disco Connection) wrote the magical track "Butterfly Dance". One of the most exciting techno prototypes from the 70's we heard so far. He doesn't produce any more music but works as a writer nowaydays. Pans People's "Club Lido" is an early prodcution by Steve Coe & Bob Mitchell who some years later became very famous as producers of superstar Laura Branigan. And last but not least Carl Barok "Blue Nights In Granada" is the 1st record of Dieter Kolb who later was part of the cosmic cult band Supersempfft from Frankfurt. Limited to 500 copies (here on black vinyl) with round "Minimize Panel" gimmicks cover !

domestic landscape vol.2 (underrated synth classics 1982-1990)

Artist : Various

Label : Domestica

domestic landscape vol.2 (underrated synth classics 1982-1990) / LP

2nd volume of 'Domestic Landscape' series, a collection of rare electronic music compiled from bands around the world. Once more, and as Domestica did with the 1st volume of 'Domestic Landscape', here is a selection of songs that you won't find in any other format, apart from of a few exceptions which were published in cassette and in very limited editions. All the bands selected have something in common: they are projects born out of the need to express an own, original and genuine message, built up from a solid basis and the result of hard work. Needless to say, all of them did it through analogic technology and, therefore, the main transmitters of this message are the synthesizers, the drum machines and the sequencers. In addition, each of them created, promoted and sold their music in a totally independent way; in a context which was very different from the current one and, up to a degree, much less friendly. Some of these bands have survived for years, others have disappeared and others have mutated; however, now we can enjoy their music again and give them the recognition that they deserve. Edition of 400 copies with inserts. Tip !

household shocks

Artist : Various

Label : Dark Entries

household shocks / LP

16-track compilation of UK DiY/synth/new-wave/post-punk originally released in 1980. The album showcases 9 bands from the thriving post-punk scene in Scunthorpe and the North of England. Operating on a shoestring budget, co-producers Chris Leaning and Paul Singleton (both of One Gang Logic), released 'Household Shocks' on Stark Products, a label they founded in 1979. At almost 50 minutes of music, the album took 4 weeks to produce at the Studio Playground in Lincoln. It was supported heavily by the late Radio 1 DJ John Peel. In july 1980 Paul Singleton and Chris Leaning opened a record shop in Lincolnshire, England. It opened under the name 'All Tomorrow's Parties', but later moved to the city center and was renamed 'Parade'. Through their growing local music scene and the separation of economic classes, their shop became the hangout for the local punk movement. It was there that the idea for 'Household Shocks', a compilation of their friend's bands, was born. Thunderboys offer 3 punky pop blazers and feature Carmel McCourt who who subsequently achieved chart success with her band Carmel. Product Of Reason contribute 3 haunting synthesizer heavy numbers. Sinking Ships supply 2 tracks of off-kilter dubbed out angst. Juveniles provide 2 power pop jams. Mystery Girls supply 1 track of quirky post-punk that recalls The Prats. Defectors, a female fronted quartet featuring COUM Transmissions affiliate Tony Menzies, grant us 1 superb track of somber gothic new-wave. Fault 151 serve a slice of wistful Flying Nun-esque indie pop featuring a 14-year old bassist. Urbantech, a short-lived synth-punk outfit, deliver one delirious track. One Gang Logic contribute 2 metallic synthesizer drenched pieces and close the album with a somber atmosphere. The vinyl comes housed in replica of Chris Leaning's original jacket design, which features a black and white photograph of a doll shocked by a vacuum cleaner. Each LP includes a copy of the double sided 11x11 insert that was included with the original pressing.

de koer 1981 (rare demos - previously released on cassette)

Artist : Various

Label : Testlab Records

de koer 1981 (rare demos - previously released on cassette) / LP

Cherry-picking selection of rare new wave demo tapes recorded in 1981 and submitted to pivotal Amsterdam venue 'De Koer', now rounded up by Dutch house and techno legend Eddy De Clerq. Fair to say that we know less about the Dutch post-punk and new wave scene than many other countries so this set holds some canny historical value at the very least but the tracks inside are thankfully worth your time, too. Plucking favourites, Lee Randaldo and co's hot-stepping "Big Man" as Plus Instruments is up there, as is Mekanik Kommando's skronky twyster "Money For Pleasure" and the dark, hard but slightly daft charge of Minny Pops' "State Of Mind (demo)", and likewise the flashes of funked-up synth brilliance from Motel Bakossa and The Mutant Jasz's very Ludus-like Gold Square Garden. 180gr deluxe vinyl edition is limited to 300 copies..!

dance with the butterflies

Artist : Various 41/2 Meets The Hormonic Calves

Label : Schallplatten Aus Lurup

dance with the butterflies / 7"

Another nice obscurity from the German new-wave scene. This band with the much too long name was completely unknown to us before this 7" arrived. Like with all releases from the Schallplatten Aus Lurup label this record is ultra limited (only 150 copies), and the sound of the band is lo-fi... very lo-fi. The recordings date from 1989-1991. Also as expected this is not music for the average listener. As with the other releases on this label it is for collector's and die hard fans of the genre only. Nice little record !

front teeth

Artist : Veil Of Light

Label : Avant!

front teeth / LP

The Swiss Zürich-based act comes back with their 3rd full-length recording. Not even one year after their latest 'Ursprung' LP, Veil Of Light give us 10 new songs that mark quite a change of direction. The black&white artwork of their previous releases is gone to give space to one bold, full-colour look. The guitar-driven shoegaze-oriented fuzzy sounds of past records make way for a new focus on the electronic, industrial synth, EBM-wave spectrum. Check out the opener "Your Love" with its throbbing synths and mechanical drumming, or the pressing minimal-wave of Soul In Ethanol; again, "Sturm Und Drang"'s pounding industrial dance and "Body To The Ceiling"'s doom electronics. A new wave of new-wave is here and Veil Of Light are showing the way. LP comes in printed innersleeve with lyrics.

Artist : Veil Of Light

Label : Aufnahme + Wiedergabe

ursprung / LP

A cold booming electronic beat, echoing snares, a floating layer of distant guitar noise and an urging voice hiding behind this wall of sound. 'Ursprung' is a welcome and immediate statement of arrival for a still relatively young band, who infuse a familiar template with a new blast of spleen and vigor. This is pure cold wave greatness.. White vinyl version limited to 300 copies and including a download code. Highly Recommended..!

Artist : Vice Versa

Label : Democratic DanceBeat Records

1979-1980 / LP

Vice Versa was formed by Stephen Singleton and Mark White in 1978. They asked Martin Fry to join them after Martin had interviewed them for his fanzine 'Modern Drugs'. They founded their own independent label called Neutron Records and produced their 1st release ('Vice Versa – Music 4 ep'). This is probably one of the greatest minimal-synth releases ever without any doubts. Neutron Records most important contribution to the scene was the 1980 ep 'The First 15 Minutes', which featured 4 unsigned bands of Sheffield: Clock DVA, I'm So Hollow, the Stuntkites and -of course- Vice Versa. The band released another 7" ("Stilyagi/Eyes Of Christ") and the cassette '8 Aspects of Love'. As Vice Versa they played a numerous amount of concerts. Their 1st gig was together with The Human League at Now Society at the Sheffield University and it was called 'What no Drummers'. When they went over to Holland on tour, they were invited to jam in a studio in Rotterdam. Martin started to improvise on vocals and everybody was surprised by the quality of his voice. They decided to make him the lead singer instead of Mark White and spent about a year writing new songs, thinking of a new name and concept. The result was ABC, one of the most famous UK pop bands of the 80's. Probably a bootleg limited to 400 copies!

Artist : Vicious Pink

Label : Parlophone

fetish / 12"

Classic 2-track 12" from this UK duo from Leeds (Josie Warden : vocalist & Brian Moss : keyboardist) released in 1985. .. The duo started out as backing vocalists for Soft Cell. Then their combination of early new-beat and spacey new wave failed to attract our attention with a catchy sound and a penchant for highly provocative and sexualized lyrics.. Nice One !

Artist : Vicnet

Label : Deco

vic / LP

Interesting record of a young French artist with sounds based on a frenetic mix between postmodern beats and 80's stupidity. Detroit electro is represented to on "Petrol & Bitch" with a special wink to Model 500. For all fan of crazy electro commodore/8-bit sounds. We like so we support !

maritime tatami

Artist : Victrola

Label : Dark Entries

maritime tatami / 12"

Duo of Antonio 'Eze' Cuscinà and Carlo Smeriglio from Italy. The band formed in Messina, but later relocated to Florence to join the rich musical scene there with Neon, Pankow, Alexander Robotnick and Diaframma. Beginning as a 4-piece combo (2 guitarists, bassist, drummer) in 1979, they slimmed down to a synthesizer and guitar-based duo a few years later. Their sole release was the 'Maritime Tatami / A Game Of Despair' ep, from 1983. Using an array of now-classic Roland synthesizers (TR 606, TR 303 Bassline, Juno 6) plus a Korg Polysix and Fender Stratocaster, they crafted 2 darkwave ballads. "Maritime Tatami" engulfs the listener with trance-inducing synth lines and melancholic vocals over its epic 8 minutes. Oblique minor-key bass lines provide an anchor while snappy, brittle 606 rhythms propel the track along. The lyrics tell the story of Tatami, a boy from a fishing town who yearns for a new life in the big city. "A Game Of Despair", on the flipside, is a haunting crawl through the eyes of a woman left by her lover. An angular guitar riff repeats hypnotically, as fragile icy synth lines chime emptily above it. The vinyl comes housed in an exact replication of the original jacket, and includes an insert with lyrics and never-before-seen photos. Victrola's only release is a truly singular and timeless masterpiece—it's from a dimension of its own. Tip !!

ektakröm killer

Artist : Video Liszt

Label : Medical Records LLC

ektakröm killer / LP

In celebration of Record Store Day (Black Friday), Medical Records returns to France for the reissue of the very rare and sought-after Video Liszt LP. 'Ektakröm Killer' was released in 1981 and had never had never been reissued or repressed. The artist behind Video Liszt was Xol, a French journalist and musician. Commanding a multitude of analog synthesizers, Moog modulars, an EMS vocoder, and an Apple Two computer, Xol crafted a very diverse album with styles ranging from sci-fi synth soundtracks, prog, space disco, and all the way to more accessible electro-pop. The album was produced by Richard Pinhas (Heldon, Moogi-Le-Moog) and recorded in Pinhas's Studio Ramsès. Pinhas contributes guitar as well. Also of interest was that Jean-Louis Rizet (from French space rock group Pôle) engineered the record! Lovers of Einzelgänger, Jean-Michael Jarre, Kraftwerk, as well as late period Heldon will be head over heels with this hidden gem. Original copies have become very collectible and expensive in the 2nd-hand record market. Presented on high quality 180gr classic black vinyl with the original reproduction artwork and bonus insert with the original artwork from the 1981 release's inner sleeve.

Artist : Violence

Label : Visage Musique

erlebnis / LP

When Ottawa's Violence released their debut ep last March, we declared them our spirit animal. Since it was one of our favourite ep from 2013, it's understandable that the arrival of their 1st full-length has turned our January blues into some happy dancing. The record's sound continues in the same vein as their previous release: artfully executed synth-pop with the exact dark flavour that we love. This is more proof that Visage Musique works with the best bands. The title is a German philosophical term for experience, and that's exactly what you should do with this record. Bring it with you as you go about, play it in all kinds of situations, really experience it. Retro-futuristic synth-laden complex electronic pop produced by Xavier Paradis (aka Automelodi) and limited to 250 copies..

Artist : Violence

Label : Visage Musique

untitled / 12"

Montreal's Visage Musique can seemingly do no wrong. Rarely do they add a new band to their roster, so it's a momentous occasion when they do. It's thrilling to discover a new act as good and fully formed as Violence, and it should be no surprise that Visage did the unearthing. Ottawa outfit Violence's beautiful take on minimal synth music expertly leads you through a range of emotions. It's equally appropriate for when being bombarded by snow as it is for sunny afternoons spent in the park. People will break up at the beginning of one song, then start making out at the chorus. That isn't to say the band is confused about what they're trying to do—this is a decidedly confident debut ep. These are masterfully arranged and intricate synth-pop songs that evoke goths dancing to Deux in a 80's Parisian basement, while simultaneously sounding utterly timeless.. Repress on black vinyl limited to 200 copies !

le théâtre

Artist : Violence

Label : Visage Musique

le théâtre / 12"

It's here! We break out our happy dances every time we get our hands on something new from Violence Musique. No surprises here: their new ep is excellent. We've already shared our love of the 1st 2 singles on this ep ("L'Invention Du Divertissement" and "Shaking Pictograms"), and they slot right in with the rest of the adventurous, slick songs on the ep. There's a lot of mostly instrumental songs to get lost in, like the decidedly space-y "Héliogabale" or "Gap Junctions", which brings back memories of high school biology (gap junctions are the passageways between animal cells that transport things back and forth). Actually, the latter could work really well as the soundtrack for colourful and crazy science animations. And then there's "Mycroft Mixeudeim", which has distant vocals that sound like they're coming from a low-volume megaphone, a great synth jab and the same style that defines the rest of the ep: quick forward motion, call-and-response between different synth tones and some seriously infectious melodies. Tip !!

Artist : Violence Conjugale

Label : Born Bad

untitled / LP

This is the debut release on Born Bad Records from Belgian synth-wave act Violence Conjugale. Hans & André met early in highschool. Their mutual love for Bowie and Kenneth Anger pushed them to flunk school and smoke in their tiny school movie room. There they dream of an ideal future, made of space travel and industrial music. Feeling the pressure from this private institution, they eventually decide to go to Berlin and see what taste has decadence there. They meet Marianne Katza, an eccentric woman who tells them to come to an artist squat in the Mitte district. Just like Warhol's Factory, the place is an indistinct magma of ideas, music and drugs. Here, as André begins to fiddle with a Korg MS20 synth and dreams of exquisite performances, in another room, Hans tries to write his wildest nightmares to exorcise them. Marianne decides to introduce the future band to one of her lovers: Marc Berron, a young, arrogant and rich kid blessed with a perfect ear. He helps them to slow down their drug issues and take a new direction: to play a cold and personal music in pop format but with a feeling of urgency which characterized young Berliners. So, he kidnaps them in his own studio for several weeks to experiment, eventually finding Violence Conjugale's definitive sound: 80's minimal synth-wave, the frostiest ever...!

vices et mensonges

Artist : Violence Conjugale

Label : Teenage Menopause Records

vices et mensonges / LP

Violence Conjugale is back after 4 years of almost vinyl silence vinyl. Almost because we should not forget the small gift for Xmas 2014 'In The Depths' which will set the tone of 'Vices Et Mensonges'. Less minimalist, but darker. 'Vices Et Mensonges' talks about all these grave diggers of hope, the counterfeiters, the organized but granted lie.. The 1st track "ACABM" show clearly its hand. A pessimistic view but sadly realistic too. 11 pieces reporting a decline totalitarianism in all its forms, declared or insidious. 11 songs that speak of the violence of life, intimate or collective. However a survival instinct remain among this. Amputated but not dead yet. As evidenced by the music structured around harsh rythm boxes, more elaborate than previously. The synthetic composition is far less minimalist too. No more kraut accents like in their 1st album. However be careful, Violence Conjugale do not stray from its line.. Here, it's uptempo, it turns, it's more dancing. As carried in a spiral. We are short-winded. A warmer synthetic frame but with darker voice. Cynicism at its best ;)

Artist : Violet Tremors

Label : VT Records

time is the traitor / LP

Violet Tremors are an anomalous oscillation on the Seismometer. Jessica White & Lorene Simpson have been friends ever since they met as co-workers at Erotic Cabaret in Houston, selling sex-toys decades ago. Today they continue to create pleasurable vibrations of the musical variety. Based in Los Angeles, Jessica & Lorene currently work in multimedia art, photo, film, fashion and music. These 2 bring their love of the visual arts to their live shows. Really cool debut album ;)

...if I die, I die

Artist : Virgin Prunes

Label : Rough Trade

...if I die, I die / LP

The Virgin Prunes was an Irish gothic rock band formed in 1977 and disbanded in 1986. In november 1982, the band released this debut album which became soon a classic. The atmosphere here is gloomy & sick with harsh vocals and bloody guitars… For connoisseurs only !

hearts and knives

Artist : Visage

Label : Pylon Records

hearts and knives / LP

Founding fathers of the new romantics and pioneers of the 80's sound Visage, return with a new album 'Hearts And Knives'. "It has been 29 years since the last Visage album and during that period it often seems like we have all lived through several lifetimes" comments Steve Strange, the bands creative force and flamboyant leader singer. The sound of 'Hearts And Knives' is classic Visage but with modern songs and style. There is the odd tip of the hat to modern production values but the sound is 1980-1982 Visage. It's vintage keyboards and synthesizers all the way. There's not software synths on this record! Many tracks are instantly recognizable as Visage. This album may have been a long time in coming but it is a purposeful statement of just where Steve Strange and Visage are at present. The past has been full of highs and lows but musically & creatively they are at a point where they can confidently present an album containing all the strands of their unique mix of music, fashion and style.

nice to meet insanity

Artist : Vision Factory

Label : NLW

nice to meet insanity / LP

Vision Factory was a late 80's solo project of musician Gregor Pichotka from the 'Ruhrpott' area of Germany, which released the heavily sought after 7" 'Bird From Fez / Tremendous Mates' in 1990. The song "Tremendous Mates" was also presented on the 1st 'Abby' CD compilation and became a small club hit. The music is influenced by acts like early The Klinik, Transparent Illusion, Throbbing Gristle and Die Form and can also be compared a bit to acts like File Not Found, Silent Signals and Nejet Nok. All songs are recorded between 1986 & 1989 and yet unreleased. The remastering of the original audiotapes was done by Matthias Schuster (Bal Pare, Im Namen des Volkes...). This record is a 2012-must-have for all fans of minimal-electro (even with some industrial influences) ;)

In a creepy vault we explored a few original pressings of this minimal electro classic from 1990, which is really scarce and expensive. The records are from the original pressing and unplayed, the cover is a reprint of the original artwork. So order quickly, if you want to get this rare masterpiece for a fair price..

Artist : Visonia

Label : Last Known Trajectory

opal's sunflowers / 2x12"

Chile's Nicolas Estany is back with another album of sublime darkwave electro following 2014's fabulous 'Impossible Romance'. There are all the hallmarks of Visonia's singular sound that are on offer once again, from the energetic devil's dance of the opening track "Beyond The Clouds" or the aptly titled "Melancholy" through to brooding gothic slow jams such as "The Owl" and title track "Opal's Sunflowers". All featuring the most razor sharp of arpeggios, haunting Carpenter-esque strings and truly epic vocal performances throughout. Limited pressing on dark blue marbled vinyl in in deluxe full colour picture sleeve.. It's all quite brilliant really !

die reisen

Artist : Visonia et Dopplereffekt

Label : Last Known Trajectory

die reisen / 12"

Jaw-dropping electro-pop debut from Chilean producer Nicolas Estany aka Visonia, including a stunning hook-up with Dopplereffekt. Boding very well for his imminent debut album, 'Impossible Romance', this single introduces a full fledged new artist paying dues to his influences: Depeche Mode, Detroit electro, classic synth-pop) with incredibly fine-tuned finesse and respect. Alongside Dopplereffekt on "Die Reisen" he plays out a beautifully poised and ice-cool electro-noir waltz that's just left us for 6, whilst flipside yields 2 solo productions: the sublime melancholy and palatial grandeur of "Antarctic Love" and the almost-too-perfect DM vibes of "Impossible Romance". Unmissable limited transparent vinyl !!

against the rule

Artist : Vita Noctis

Label : Dark Entries

against the rule / 2x12"

Vita Noctis were a trio formed in 1983 in Vilvoorde (Belgium), and inspired by the post-punk movement. More "arthouse" than "goth", Vita Noctis blend the sneering attitude of punk with the spartan structures of minimal electronics. The band had more in common with the early electronic Sheffield scene of Cabaret Voltaire, Vice Versa or early Human League than their Belgian contemporaries. Urgent vocals go from a whisper to a scream in seconds and sound restless, bored and irritated all at once. Fuzzy guitar, simple baselines and crude electronics take turns accompanying the dynamic vocal styling. While lyrics tackle weighty topics like death and religion, the landscape they paint is a playfully bratty as it is grim. Each double LP comes in a gatefold jacket with cover art. Spanning 3 years and 4 recording sessions 'Against The Rule' is the soundtrack to Armageddon, very fitting in the contemporary climate of dissatisfaction and social upheavel. Beware, this is abrasive, primal music made by irritated teenagers full of angst !!

aller simple

Artist : Vitor Hublot

Label : Psoria Discs

aller simple / 12"

Ultrarare minimal synth record from 1983. At the begining Vitor Hublot was a duo composed by Guy Clerbois & Guy Delhalle and coming from Soignies (Belgium). Victor Hublot became Vitor Hublot thanks to a mistake made by the graphist on their 1st concert poster in 1980. Despite a different approach of music they produced their 1st 12" (with guest singer Chantal Talbot) in 1983 by themselves on their Psoria Discs label. 'Aller Simple' remain a cult record for purists of early minimal crazy synth-pop.. Mint original copies. Be fast on this Must-Have !

To keep the spirit of real folk parties, each track is interpretated by a different singer and his version of 'La P'Tite Gayole' gave him recognition in the Belgian musical scene. Very rare mint original copies. Be fast on this Must-Have !

cuadro sinóptico

Artist : Vocoder

Label : Dark Entries

cuadro sinóptico / 12"

A 4-song compilation from one of the finest groups of the Spanish new-wave/techno-pop scene of the 80's: Vocoder. Keyboardists Antonio Laval, Alfonso Olarte, Antonio Tenas met while attending university, and were later joined by vocalist Pilar Pellicer. They recorded several demos with synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines, creating a soundtrack for the clubs and dancefloors. After sending demos to various record companies, they signed a deal with Aviador Dro's sublabel Neón Danza and released 2 ep's, 'What Happens Now / Radio' in 1984, "Mindanao / Amor de Robot' in 1985 and a self-titled lp which was produced by Michel Huygen (Neuronium) in 1987. 'Cuadro Sinóptico' compiles both 2-song 12" maxi singles as one 4-song ep. All 4 songs were recorded during 1984-85 using the most advanced and sophisticated techniques of time in digital recording and Direct Metal Mastering (DMM). Genuinely catchy, Vocoder combined soaring melodies with cybernetic coldness. A futuristic sound for the modern age topped with Pilar's charismatic vocals. Lyrically they address robotic love, disco dancing, and the tropical island of Mindanao, and sing in Spanish, English and French. Each LP includes a double-sided insert with photos, lyrics and liner notes by Flemming Dalum, a Danish Dj who introduced much of the world to Vocoder in 2008 on his 'French Spanish Italo Connection' mix. Vocoder want you to barricade yourself in the discotheques and dance away the depression !!!

Artist : Vogue

Label : Anna Logue Records

sahara / 12"

Vogue was formed by American musician and multi-instrumentalist Aret Madilian, back then equipping himself with Moog and Roland synthesisers, plus a Boss DR-55 and a piano, and recording two of those ultimate dark minimal synth hits, "Sahara" and "Shattered Peace", think of Das Kabinette, Those Attractive Magnets, Inertia, Ceramic Hello, just to name a few. Aret added Julie Kubat (vocals and lyrics) and Teresa Kubat (vocals) to the line-up and self-released both tracks on their sole release, the "Sahara" 12" in 1983 (Aret Records, Ar 42266). Ultra rare and very expensive in its original form, Anna Logue Records now offers this gem for small money, with a beautifully remixed artwork, and carefully remastered. Dark analogue synth bliss, not to be missed! Limited edition of 325 copies on 140gr black vinyl, printed on the brown reversed side of the board (SUS), remastered by Martin Bowes (Attrition, The Cage Studios), artwork remixed by Steve Lippert. Tip !!

in 20 years

Artist : Void Vision

Label : Blind Prophet Records

in 20 years / 7"

This is the debut release by USA based synth band Void Vision. In a way the sound of Void Vision is typical for the new American wave of synth acts like Martial Canterel and Xeno & Oaklander but due to a more poppy touch and some excellent song writing this band is able to set themselves apart. A very nice debut release for sure that will please both fans of more cold wave sounds as synthpop addicts. Limited edition of 500 numbered copies..

sub rosa

Artist : Void Vision

Label : Mannequin

sub rosa / LP

Void Vision is a Philadelphia-based electronic project helmed by Shari Vari. Shari Vari formed Void Vision in 2009 originally as a duo, during the explosion of the new minimal synth and coldwave scene in United States. Sharing the same scene of the Wierd Records associates like Led Er Est, Martial Canterel, Xeno & Oaklander, Automelodi, in 2010 VV released 'In Twenty Years' on Blind Prophet (Sean Ragon's Cult Of Youth record label), receiving also the attention of the Rough Trade dudes, who asked to put out a track for one of their synth wave compilations. After other split vinyls, tapes and compilations, Mannequin approached Shari with the intention to continue what Wierd Records started, giving a proper shape to her beautiful and youthful dark electronic sound. The result is 10 hypnotic cold analog tracks dominated by the warm and fragile Shari's voice, some more "pop orientated" some others belonging to the original "cold wave" atmosphere. 'Sub Rosa' is an edition of 400 copies on 160gr black vinyl !

silent howl

Artist : Volkova

Label : Tacuara Records

silent howl / 12"

After their debut album 'Confusion Is A Good Weapon' released in mid 2013 and catalogued as one of the breakthrough recordings of the year, Vólkova begins 2014 presenting 'Silent Howl', a limited edition of 300 units in vinyl format. The record includes a password to download all the tracks plus some remixes and live recordings. Following the same line as the 1st album, but with a stronger sound, 'Silent Howl' faces 2 genres that confirm their post-industrial and coldwave influences (like the version of Monte Cazazzas's "Birds Of Prey"). Also, the album goes beyond the genres mentioned before. This vinyl edition of 'Silent Howl' incorporates the song "Pulsion", which serves as Volkova's 2nd video clip. "Pulsion" transmits certain landscape's rusticity and apathy, a metaphor of the different moods we sometimes succumb to. It manages to counterpose to such utopian aspirations that move us, and help keep active against the never ending search for that which we desire, that which we exteriorize through music, and the arts in general.

Artist : Voxzema

Label : Domestica

untitled / 10"

Appeared from the alternative Italian stage in the late 80's, Voxzema is one of the most unknown and peculiar bands in the european underground music scene. Despite not having launched any record before its early breakup, they did give a few concerts and, with some luck, you will be able to find 2 of their demos in the strange compilation in cassette format 'Ologenesi' from 1989. Thanks to an exhausting work of musical archaeology, Domestica found their original members and rescued their demos, most of them totally unpublished up to now. With a totally innovative sound, Voxzema is a mixture of electronic/coldwave with psychedelic touches, blunt bases and a deep male voice which may evoke a hybrid between Cassandra Complex and Kas Product, to name some of them... perhaps we're talking about 'cyberpunk'...? Judge yourself! Edition of 250 copies. Presented in a handmade silk-screened sleeve, here in gold version printed on a black textured sleeve (nº 175 to 250) !

the man from colours

Artist : Wanexa

Label : Dark Entries

the man from colours / 12"

Gianluigi 'Gigi' Farina and Francesco Rago are to be counted among italo-disco's true originators. Operating as a duo under many monikers, they brought us masterpieces such as Wanexa's "The Man From Colours", ‘Lectric Workers "Robot Is Systematic", and Decadance's "On And On". Their sound is propulsive and ethereal in equal measure; dense, psychedelic, and tinged with melancholy. "The Man From Colours" was recorded in Milan in 1982 and released on Discomagic Records the same year. The song's music was composed by Rago and Farina, with lyrics written by Xenia Monneret who was only 16 at the time. Mournful synth pads are buoyed by an 808 groove, while Lyana Galis provides haunting vocals, singing of a man who will bring color to this grey world. "The Man From Colours" was influential on early house and techno music thanks to support from WBMX in Chicago and and WJLB in Detroit. It was later a cornerstone in the 90's Hague electro scene, frequently appearing in Dj sets by I-f and Intergalactic Gary. On the B-side is the instrumental version with extended breaks, drum claps and additional vocoder verses. There is a slight warble in the beginning of each version that was due to the band re-recording multiple takes on the same reel of tape. The record comes housed in a newly designed die-cut jacket by Eloise Leigh, updating the pink and green color scheme of the original Discomagic Records label. Each copy includes a double-sided postcard insert with lyrics, notes, and a never seen before photo from a fashion show.
