Artist : Tomi Z.

Label : Fuckin'Good Records

kontaminiert / 10"

Tomi Z. has already been called the best thing from Switzerland since Grauzone. Time will have to tell if this is true. But, in any case he has produced a very fine debut ep. 'Kontaminiert' is a record with playful and weird electronic pop in the NDW tradition. Although old synths like the Korg MS20 and the Roland JU-6 are used, the music has a modern feeling. None of the tracks are instant dancefloor hits, but "Bin Ich Ein Terrorist???' and 'Der Amerikanische Traum' show potential for clubplay. Besides that all of the tracks on this record are really good to enjoy at home, like 'Sexy Kleine Hexe' and 'Kontaminiert' which are funny and crazy tunes..

close your eyes

Artist : Tommy De Chirico

Label : Mannequin

close your eyes / 12"

True pearl of the Italian minimal synth scene from the 80's. Tommy De Chirico founded the post-punk band Politburo in Turin during 1982. On his own, he released the 7" 'Close Your Eyes / Flower Into The Factory', produced and recorded at TKS Studio by the Monuments' Mauro Tavella between 1982 and 1983 and subsequently released by Turin's Shirak Records in 1984. When Politburo split in 1986, Tommy continued to experiment with various projects and sounds, including Thugs (with members of Nerorgasmo and Aqua), Qharr Harr Skebath (with menbers of Eazycon) Quiet (with members of Monuments, Avantgarde, Eazycon and Deafear), Noxeda, Lacriminal and various collaborations in recording studio and live concert with Robert Freak Antoni, leader of historic Italian punk-rock band Skiantos. Presented here are also 3 bonus demo tracks: a rare version of "Close Your Eyes", and 2 out-takes from 1983, "Vuh-Ya" and "Tuxedo Dance". Limited edition of 300 copies on black vinyl. Tip !!!

the invitation of the dead

Artist : Tomo Akikawabaya

Label : Minimal Wave

the invitation of the dead / 2x12"

Exquisite double LP release by obscure Japanese artist Tomo Akikawabaya. After working through the track selection and artwork ideas, MW & Akikawabaya came up with the release plan. 'The Invitation Of The Dead' is a collection of songs include the entirety of both The Castle (1984) and Anju (1985) releases, all newly remastered. They sound fresher and stronger than ever before, exactly as the artist had intended them to sound when he recorded them 30 years ago. The songs that span this double LP are personal and unique; they are dark synth-pop gems. The artist still remains a mystery, as does his relationship to the model Rena Anju featured on this and all but one of his album covers (Kojiki to Onna). 'The Invitation Of The Dead' double LP is a limited edition of 999 copies. Edition pressed on 160gr black vinyl for the A/B sides and white vinyl for the C/D sides. It is presented in a gatefold sleeve designed by Peter Miles featuring cover photo by Alao Yokogi.

Artist : Tomorrow People

Label : Tomorrow

ep1 / 12"

Nice electro EP from UK released in 2002. Tracks are of the Electro ilk, with a lean to the more analogue stuff, fat basslines with vocodored vocals. The excellent "Tweak" track with its heavy beats and bass lines added funk synths and strings offers us the quite best track.

Artist : Tomorrow People

ep 3 / 12"

Wicked release by the talented UK Tomorrow People. This time even vocals make an appearance, and the tracks seem effortlessly professionally produced. I can only recommend this one, as it is truly stunning electro material. Surprisingly there is actually a 4/4 track on there as well, that muscles into the proppier end of the kompakt releases. Your own fault, should you decide not to listen to this !!!

explorer and yellow power

Artist : Tony Carey

Label : Medical Records LLC

explorer and yellow power / 2x12"

Groundbreaking electronic classic 'Explorer' and its sister LP 'Yellow Power' by none other than the multi-talented Tony Carey. Tony Carey needs no introduction, but for the uninitiated, he is a keyboard whiz and legend originally from California. He is clearly most famous for his work as keyboardist in the 70's band Rainbow (alongside Ritchie Blackmore and Ronnie James Dio) up to 1977. He then embarked on a solo career with multiple charting records under his own name. In the mid-late 70's, he took up residence in Germany and began working in Peter Hauke's studio. Carey embarked on a period of intense experimentation and mastery of various studio equipment, songwriting, and the like. Influenced by what Tony referred to as 'euro-electronica', the product of these enlightening sessions became "Explorer", "No Human", "TCP", "Heaven", and "Yellow Power". Medical Records has chosen to reissue the highly-sought after 'Explorer' LP along with 'Yellow Power' as a 2LP package. Rumor has it that 'Explorer' was intended to be demos for the 'Yellow Power' LP but was released without his permission. Eventually both of these brilliant LPs were released on X Records in 1982. Though both LPs have similar tracks, the overall mixes and feel of the 2 LPs are vastly different. Instrumental and very catchy, 'Explorer' is the more stripped down almost proto-techno meets synthed out Italo disco while 'Yellow Power' has a more polished, well-rounded and produced sound with a different array of instrumentation and alteration in mood. Both of these LPs were sadly bootlegged in 2009 with much inferior sound quality. The originals (as well as the bootlegs) are long out of print and fetching high prices in the collector's markets. This special release combines both of these lost classics in one convenient 2LP set. Released in a sturdy gatefold jacket with 'montaged' new artwork on the front and back but preserved original covers in the inside of the gatefold, it is a gorgeous reissue. Released on double colored 160gr vinyl (LP1 is green and LP2 is baby blue) in limited edition of 1000 hand-numbered copies. Release also includes a special bonus insert with a retrospective and interview by Dave Segal. Fans of proto-techno, early synth-based disco, and left-field wave/electronica will need this gem in their collection.

Artist : Tony Moore D.J.

Label : Dark Entries

tonight / 12"

Tony More D.J. was the italo-disco project of Marzio Benelli and Andrea Venturoli from Firenze, Italy. Marzio specialized in sound engineering at various recording studios in Milan throughout the early 80's. He opened Emme Studio where we worked with major national and international artists. In 1984 he met Andrea, a sound programmer who knew his way around analog synthesizers. Their 1st collaboration was that same year on the song 'Computer Sourire' for Alexander Robotnick debut album. In 1985 the duo recorded "Tonight, the debut single for the vocalist Tony More that was released the same year on Sensation Records Their basic set up for recording was a PPG Wave 2.3 synthesizer, Elka Synthex, Roland TB-303, TR-808, TR-909 and Fender 4 string electric bass. The song written by Marzio and his sister-in-law, Antonella Bianchi from italo-disco group Plustwo, who also sings back up vocals. The song features dark, driving bass, solid drums and melodic synthesizers that Tony's deep vocals float over. Lyrically the song is a romantic dream where the singer falls in love forgetting the bittersweet disappointment of day to day reality. On the B-side is the slightly shorter instrumental version with extended breaks, drum claps and dubbed out bass lines. Each record comes in a full color sleeve featuring the original iconic blue portrait of Tony with the same misspelling of his surname plus a postcard with lyrics and with notes.

Much needed re-issue of this fantastic and unfortunately overlooked 1985 tape on Stichting Stopcontact. Lex Grauwen & Paul Oosterbaan had worked together for about 8 years before they formed Tranquil Eyes in 1982. They decided to turn their back to stage performances and started experimenting with home-taping. Using an array of electronics, Tranquil Eyes recorded a great amount of songs and made a fine selection on 'Walks'. Their 1st and only release. The wonderful produced tracks sound a lot like A Blaze Colour and Snowy Red. Minimal-synth at its best with a great feel for song structures, melody and occasionally aiming at the dancefloor. If you're at all attuned to the cassette culture of the early years don't miss out on this one. Limited edition of 500 copies, including a booklet with songtexts, photo's and liner notes. Magnificent !!

Tranquil Eyes is a Dutch minimal synth band formed in 1982. Lex Grauwen and Paul Oosterbaan had worked together for about 8 years before they formed the band. They decided to turn their back to stage performances and started experimenting with home-taping. Using an array of electronics, they recorded a great amount of songs and made a fine selection on 'Walks', their 1st and only release. Today, after digging into the archives, a lot of restoring, recording & re-mastering, there's 'Fact & Fiction'. The album is an extension to the 'Walks' album both in genre and in spirit. Comprising a selection of lost tracks, compilation only releases, unreleased songs and even 2 newly recorded songs, 'Fact & Fiction' gives a great view on the bands musical abilities & influences over the years. For fans of League Of Nations, Oppenheimer Analysis and Ensemble Pittoresque. Poignant & exciting synthwave songs. Drenched in an eternal 80's feel, well crafted & complete.

still human

Artist : Transparent Illusion

Label : Anna Logue Records

still human / LP

Transparent Illusion was the brainchild of Roy Young hailing from UK. Equipped with just one synthesiser and a drum kit, he entered Octopus Studios in 1980/81 to record the ultimate minimal electronic music album. Roy’s music is nothing but rather unique, there were not many bands around that created a similar sound, except maybe for Neural Circus that are coming to mind. Once again, Roy is a pristine example that limitation can be the perfect source for a massive amount of creativity. Anyway, Roy seemed to have a great imagination as even though the tracks are mostly very short they are far from being poor in textures, with brilliant analogue synth sounds all through. While the lyrics are a testimony of an angst-ridden teenager living in the Thatcherian-Britain-Cold War era, the music, to some surprise, is coming up with many uplifting moments in terms of unexpected melodic parts. So, over the recent years, some people have described "Still Human" as being the 'Holy Grail' of minimal electronic music. 2nd vinyl release edition limited to 500 copies on black vinyl.. Essential archive ;)

landing plus

Artist : Trek with Quintronic

Label : Dark Entries

landing plus / 2x12"

Trek with Quintronic are the duo of Paul Wilcox (Trek) and David Kane (Quintronic). Formed from the ashes of prog rock band Masque in 1979, they moved from Buffalo, NY to New Hope, PA with contacts in the Philadelphia music scene. They recorded 2 pioneering albums of unique electronic rock, 'Landing' LP from 1980, and the self-titled follow-up 'Trek w/ Quintronic' LP in 1981. 'Landing Plus' compiles the complete discography of Trek with Quintronic on a double vinyl for the 1st time in over 30 years. The band utilized a synthesizer-heavy set up using a Roland CompuRhythm CR-78 drum machine, ,Yamaha CS-60, Minimoog, effect pedals and guitar. All songs on the album are strictly electronic sounds, no piano or organ. Trek with Quintronic wrote songs with a powerful sound, myriads of compositional ideas, synthetic noises and catchy melodies. Paul's rather unique vocals lie somewhere between David Bowie and Richard Butler of the Psychedelic Furs. Each double LP set comes in a gatefold sleeve with 2 postcards featuring live photos, an instrument list and quotes. This collection highlights a lost duo with a big sound on par with Ultravox, Human League, OMD or Devo..

Trestristestigres were formed in the summer of 1998 by Christian Ruiz, Jordi Carreras (aka Dj Gore) and Carlos Fraile with the purpose of experimentation and development in electronic music. Main influencies such as intelligent techno and Kraftwerk were the starting point for composing and producing their first album "Oui Nous Sommes Trois" on Satélite K (in 2000) which was nominated as one of the best album records by the indie musical press of Spain. After 2 years of working in the studio, the band stayed in contact with european electronic labels and Kône Records (Switzerland) released "Sea And Cables ep" featuring some distinctive electro-techno stuff. 3 electrotracks inspired by spaceinvaders and vocoders. Nice one !

Radius 10th release with deep italo-disco inspired tracks by Irish producer Niall Connolly (aka Discopia). "Miami Playa" has some very authentic italo sounds combined with modern nu-disco and gets pretty intense during the chorus, also included is a very nice 'beatless' version. "Mote I Verdensrommet" and "Fifteen To Frankfurt" sound more like modern disco, think Lindstrom meets Alden Tyrell. Ace !

permissions of love

Artist : Tropic Of Cancer

Label : Mannequin

permissions of love / 12"

New 12" from Tropic Of Cancer, one the most important realities in the modern post-punk and darkwave scene. Essentially the solo project of LA-based Camella Lobo, with contributions from John Mendez (aka Sandwell District's Silent Servant) and Taylor Burch (DVA Damas) and after 2 sold-out releases on labels Blackest Ever Black and Downwards, Tropic Of Cancer have stoked their slow burning reputation into the makings of what is being referred to as a 'modern classic'. Though Tropic Of Cancer's sound has been called gothic, cold-wave and drone pop, the band's take on their influences is anything but nostalgic. Lobo & Mendez have managed to imbue their own elusive gaze and craft a strangely beautiful and intoxicating sound in the wake of their predecessors. The 3 tracks on this new 12" take us gently by the hand into a slowed-down opium dream - it's like watching the desert from the same stark corners where Lyciastood many years ago. This ep gathers the primal thrust of their bleak post-punk (think about Cultural Decay shaking hands with Section 25 in their psychedelic/buddhist years) and Minimal Wave aesthetics with this entirely new dimension in the music of TOC – heartfelt and deep. Cold waves have never been so warm. Limited edition of 500 copies ;)

land in sicht

Artist : Tse-Tse

Label : Medical Records LLC

land in sicht / LP

Medical Records returns to Germany for another piece of the Neue Deutsche Welle story with the reissue of the one and only album by Tse-Tse. Long out of print from it's original 1983 pressing on Neuland Tonträger, it is due to be heard again. Tse-Tse were Claas Mehlhop & Clement Hülse. The duo met in Hamburg at a disco. While Claas was a medical student and trained flutist, Clem was a school drop out playing in a German punk band (Hermann's Ogrie) which he joined when he was only 16. They hit it off and spent a lot of time listening to early Human League, Virgin Prunes and other oddball stuff from the time. In between hanging out at trendy bars at some point, Clem took a tiny toy Casio keyboard over to Claas's place. They began improvising and playing through the home stereo. The drum machine sounds were simply whatever was built into the cheap gear, and everything was recorded on a cassette tape player. The songs came together quite easily with key changes and rhythms evolving quite instinctively. A friend of the band ran an independent record label and insisted they go into the studio. They recreated their homemade tunes and added some vocals, sax, bass, and effects. They did use a Korg MS20 and Roland Drumatix which they now had access to. Following the recording, Clem moved to Berlin and later London. He played in multiple grunge bands, but none of them had any use for the novelty toy synthesizers (which at this point were deteriorating rapidly). Back in Hamburg, Claas finished the album but shortly thereafter he suffered a serious accident. Sadly this was the end of the band, and none of the pieces were ever performed live. Clement is still playing in bands today and works as a web designer. Claas eventually finished his medical degree and moved to Berlin. He continued to play music with Temple Fortune who released several albums. He is now an established psychiatrist. The album is a very interesting hybrid of minimal instrumentals interspersed with unique more melodic tracks with vocals. There seems to be an almost prog element (in the most stripped down of fashions) and a clear knack for experimentation. After the brief intro, the 1st track "Land In Sicht" highlights the duo's mastery of novelty keyboards highlighted by restrained use of synth and bass guitar with moody vocals. Whereas the 1st side tends to feature more traditional style synth oriented tracks with vocals (though still quirky and atypical), the 2nd side evolves into long convoluted instrumental pieces with samples and an array of synths and drum machines in a more heady fashion. Highly recommended for fans of the NDW genre and especially those fans of Die Gesunden, instrumental tracks of Der Plan, and even the synth stylings of Soft Cell. Remastered by Martin Bowes at the Cage Studios, UK. Presented on high-quality 180gr heavyweight green transparent vinyl. Limited edition.

evaluations / LP

Isolated in an upstate, NY bedroom studio exists TSTI, a solo project by artist S. Smith described as 'dark, hazy synthetic pop'. Constructing musical landscapes that combine pounding drum machines with elevated melodies, TSTI stirs the echoes of his 80's influences into a pot of contradicting emotions to establish a diverse yet familiar and powerful sound. The genesis of TSTI began in a 2003 but did not show its face until the summer 2011 with the self-released, 4-song demo 'Black Envelope' ep. The 1st 10 months of 2012 TSTI spent writing, recording and mixing his full-length release 'Evaluations' which consist of 9 tracks assessing those that surround him. With 'Evaluations' now unleashed, Smith is deep in the writing stages of the next installment. Nice one.. Limited to 300 copies on grey vinyl with black speckles, 12" double-sided insert and download card !

half mute

Artist : Tuxedomoon

Label : Gigolo

half mute / LP

Recorded in 1979, "Half-Mute" was Tuxedomoon’s first LP, originally released on the Resident’s Ralph label. Now reissued by the steaming Gigolo label, "Half Mute" has been time and time again cited as a huge influence on the German electronic new wave synth scene. Drum machines, minimal organs, sax and bass feature heavily here. Tracks such as "59 To 1" come as close to funk as the band ever got. The rest sounds like folk singers on acid listening to Morrisey, which isn't bad, but just isn't right. For a slice of experimental history check this out, though it's heavy going, don’t say we didn’t warn you...

the factory scream

Artist : Twilight Ritual

Label : OnderStroom Records

the factory scream / LP

Twilight Ritual was/is the main project by Geert Coppens and Peter Bonne. During the early 80's they were involved in many other bands including Autumn and Linear Movement, but Twilight Ritual is by far the most inspired project. The spirit of the band lingers on beneath the work of Autumn through A Split Second. The work of Twilight Ritual is diverse, yet consise. Their pioneering album 'Rituals' inspired other musicians and became an underground cult classic in the minimal synth genre. 'The Factory Scream' is a compilation of varied works recorded during 1984 and 1986. After finishing the tracks for the album 'Rituals' they went on discovering new areas of expression. And it shows "Visions Of Steel" and "L'Uomo Moderno" are 2 international sounding and wonderful analogue induced tracks, "Wired To The Machines" could have been a potential club hit, "Black Track" can stand next to the best Neon Judgement material and "She Told Me Lies" is a truly mesmerizing 80's synth-pop song. 'The Factory Scream' has many different facets, and it often sounds like there is more than one band playing on this album! Limited to 500 copies..

Artist : Twilight Ritual

Label : OnderStroom Records

rituals / LP

Twilight Ritual's 'Rituals' album is one of the best kept secrets of the synth-pop / coldwave movement. Sinister, dark and a bunch of touching melodies. Peter Bonne & Geert Coppens had already been playing for a few years in other projects such as Autumn, Linear Movement and in 1985 they managed to create this stunning album. Highlights on the album include "I Never Called You A Dream", "Rooms", "Amorphous Materials", "Closed Circuit" and.. well every other track. When the LP was originally released by some awkward mistake the artwork was printed in reverse (black became white and white became black). The artwork is now restored to its original form, how it was intended to be. This album was born at the height of the analogue era, when Geert and Peter collected as much synths and recording devices as they could get their hands on. Using the all-time favorite TR808 as rhythm provider, sequencers and synces effects formed the basics for a unique sounding album. Sounds were processed in every possible unintended way, recording layer over layer with voices, guitars and doubled keyboards and solos. Edition of 500 copies. Be fast on this one ;)

Re-release of the 1st ever recordings by Belgian minimal synth masters Twilight Ritual. Released in 1982 in a tiny cassette edition, this album has not been heard by many people. 'The Ritual' includes some of their best work, from mysterious dark synthpopsongs "Elegy" to club music "Webb-Men" and the epic 14-minute track "Up To Now". Twilight Ritual was/is the main project by Geert Coppens and Peter Bonne. During the early 80's they were involved in many other bands including Autumn and Linear Movement (both re-released on Minimal Wave), but Twilight Ritual is by far the most inspired project. The spirit of the band lingers on beneath the work of Autumn through A Split Second and stands besides the best tracks of bands such as Oppenheimer Analysis and League Of Nations. rather not

Artist : Twins

Label : Enfant Terrible

rather not / LP

Twins is Matt Weiner who is also known for his Featureless Ghost project and of course as the head of the DKA Records label. His project Twins is not limited to one specific style but the dominant characteristic is the synth driven sound. Other influences in the mix are various styles of dance music and a healthy dose of arty post-punk. This new mini album 'Rather Not' is the perfect blending of all of this. Due to this it is on the one hand a classic minimal elektro record but at the same time a rather modern piece of electronic music. Catchy tunes and surprising twists go hand in hand and make up for an authentic and original record. Which is more stunning every time you play it! Mini LP, 250 copies with 2 variations of the sleeve !

The Twins Natalia songs are unique products of creative minds working together in order to write some beautiful, catchy and substantial electro-pop songs combining an early 80’s musical approach (analogue drum machine sounds, way of sequencing) with up-to-date recording techniques. This is close to being the perfect electro-pop. Further tracks are at early stages so a complete Twins Natalia album is planned for 2009. Limited pressing of 333 copies !

the destiny room

Artist : Twins Natalia

Label : Anna Logue Records

the destiny room / LP

It 'only' took Twins Natalia 5 years to complete their debut album, but to them it just had to be perfect in every aspect, from each sound, note and word to each and every pixel, and quality needs time, trying to create the perfect electro-pop record. In 2008, Twins Natalia was formed when Marc Schaffer played some demo recordings to Dave Hewson who wanted to work on those tracks while graphic designer Steve Lippert spent hours of inventing fictional 'new-wave' or 'minimal synth' band names, song titles and artworks, too, and amongst them was the Twins Natalia moniker, hence the project was born. Sharon Abbott & Julie Ruler (both also of Počme Electronique fame) were recruited on vocal duties and a 1st 7" was released, followed by 2 sampler contributions and an extended 12" (coupled with the revived Počme Electronique in 2012) paving the way to their debut album 'The Destiny Room'. The title 'The Destiny Room' was coined by Dave and described Marc's little home recording studio where all tracks were demoed on almost purely analogue gear and according to his vision of melancholic yet melodic electro-pop, slightly inspired by Experimental Products, Kraftwerk, OMD, Rational Youth and the likes. Dave co-composed, arranged and performed all tracks in his Hewsonics studio using latest technology and adding his incredible playing skills, expertise and imagination, always in close co-operation with Marc so that the analogue spirit remained while being transformed into the 21st century. Sharon & Julie added superbly professional and versatile vocal performances based upon wonderful and substantial lyrics written by Sharon or Steve, the latter making the whole package complete by adding a stunning and perfectly fitting artwork. All in all, a high-class melodic 10 track electro-pop album, never 'cheesy' or too commercial, always still melancholic with lots of attention to detail, complexity and versatility, from the minds of creative people for the active listener, and the dancers, too. Limited edition of 400 copies..

I avoid strangers / I wouldn't change me for anyone / 12"

While Twins Natalia are giving their debut album 'The Destiny Room' the final touch they here present their powerful upbeat dance floor killer 'I Avoid Strangers' on this 12"s A-side in an almost epic 8,5 mins 'special extended night version' which should appeal to all into electro-pop, minimal electronics, cold-wave. If this won't become a major hit on the dark dancefloors across the planet, then we really cannot help it... And on the AA side, Počme Electronique, after like 25 years of dormancy, are back! With "I Wouldn't Change Me For Anyone" they present like a sister track to their 1982 classic "The Echoes Fade" and we are so happy they didn't try to tie in with modern trends and rather just be themselves just transforming their very own sound into the modern age by a superb production and high level of professionalism. Beautiful synth sounds, emulations (TR-808), Sharon and Julie's vocals sound better than ever before and Dave's unique and ever present solos that are making this an electronic pop masterpiece that will surely make you wanna long for more. Last but not least, beautiful artwork so far with additional posters and postcards and Počme Electronique's artwork being based on original paintings by German artist Peter K. Endres. All in all really a nice piece of passionate work this is..

rosemary / sed knife

Artist : U.S. Girls

Label : Electric Voice Records

rosemary / sed knife / 7"

Here comes U.S. Girls resurrecting puzzled memories. Nostalgia to be unsure of, or maybe days lost behind thick shadow. Something is bubbling to the surface, but why is it happening? Strange, this is innocent melody at drift on waves of tape disintegration. She's a one woman call and responder dialing up minimalist lines and beats. A loner. And of course, these 2 jams are crooned so hard and with such ease that we fall deep within the emptiness on either side. This is music with plenty of space for being dissolved, and sure, it could even be the gift of an inner door that opens on and on.. Sensual slow-burner from the avant-soul chanteuse and the first lady noise-glam: Meghan Remy. Limited edition of 300 copies on black wax.

Gaspar Kornel is active since the late 80's but he founded his project Új Látásmód Fúzió in 1992. Since then, he frequently self released tapes (the 1st lot are 'Lelekjelenlet', 'Meg Kell Tudnom (Fenyjelek)' and 'Eltunt A Feny Tegnap') and CDs ('Latasmod Es Technologia' in 1999, the compilation 'Lelekjelenlet-kivonatok '92-97' and the MCD 'Legyozzuk Az Idot' in 2002) and also participated to compilations ('Moire Gyermekei - 1992-2011' on Diobel, 'Forward + Rewind: The Future Echo Tapes' on A+W, 'Central Heating' on KHK Tapes and 'Circuit D'Actes 3' on La Forme Lente). Now, the Slovakian label 4mg Records is releasing the 1st Új Látásmód Fúzió vinyl compilation album titled 'Fúzió Adventures'. The album contains 14 tracks of what Gaspar calls 'moody decadent casio-synthpunk, unpolished minimalist synth-pop, industrial-influenced cold wave and analogue electro things to a kind of absurd avant-garde kitschy cabaret'. Characterised by Hungarian lyrics, minimal raw analog synth lines and Gaspar's baritone cold vocals, the tracks musically paint a dark scenario made of synth monophonic leads, sparse pad chords and robotic drum beats. Based on simple melodies and obsessive/hypnagogic atmospheres, the tracks are able to catch immediately the attention of fans of bands of the likes of Borghesia and Die Form or generally lovers of electronic dark wave. Limited to 275 copies !

galvanic vestibular stimulation

Artist : Umwelt

Label : Satamile

galvanic vestibular stimulation / 2x12"

After several releases on his own label and Kommando 6, Umwelt deliver us a double pack on the NY based dark electro specialist : Satamile. From masterfull melodys to pumpin breaks, with tempo changes and hoover lines and one sensation to the next this 2x12 is full of variety, in all ways good. Each track sounds fresh, new and different from the previous but somehow maintaing a constant theme for this LP. Quite emotive and journey like, to a place sonically quite unique and truly Umwelt. In one word : excellent !

post-humain ep

Artist : Umwelt

Label : Satamile

post-humain ep / 12"

If the French electro artists are pretty rare, they're even fewer to export their stuff on foreign labels. This is a moreover reason to underline the wonderful performance of Freddy J, who, after having provided to Kommando 6 one of his best productions, appears today on the excellent US Satamile structure. In 4 cinematographic tracks, our artist located in the suburbs of Lyon delivers here a very personal 12" clearly marked by dark and depressive universes. "P.O.W" opens the A-side with a fast electro breakbeat rhythm raised by unhealthy analogical strings. Less dancefloor, "Biological Entity" serves a perfect beauty, based on some superb atmospheric arrangements and a deep melody. "Delinkant" on the flip offers a worrying vision of the future thanks to the use of skilfully orchestrated synthetic tonalities. At last, "Zeta Reticuli Incident" shows a classic piece founded on a treacherous bassline and lots of old school elements. What to cause great hopes for the forthcoming album!

Extremely limited repress! We have no idea who Univac actually are, where he, she, or they originate from, but it matters not, as what we can say is that this electro 8-tracker seriously is the business. Harsh, uncompromising, menacing, shadowy, brutal... are all descriptives that spring to mind. If you like your electro to stalk your subconscious prior to a good night's sleep, then this is for you. If this shit doesn't shake your box, then I am not sure what will. Shit hot and deadly! These will not last long!

3 track edits 12" on the infamous Moxie label. On the A-side there's "Can The Future Be Remembered ?", a bassdriven cut with an 80's feel and strings that get intenser as the track progresses. Label : Forte Records

total destruction (remixes) / 12"

Brand new versions of "Total Destruction" (the amazing Ural 13's LP) mixed up by another 80's fan : DMX Krew loads a soft electro tune, melodic and groovy, kind of "Expo 2000" from Kraftwerk. Finland Ural 13 Diktators (aka Lauri Virtanen & Lauri Pitkänen) themselves reworks 2 tracks : more housy kick than the original, invasion of funny bleeps taken from a lo-fi videogame and always this unique Hi-Nrg sound ! The Bikini Machine give a killer track : heady melody, smash hit pop song and a crazy bassline tweaked at Cerrone's pool ! Forget Daft Punk and Bob Sinclar, Ural 13 Diktators are the true kings of electronic pop ;)

no songs tomorrow

Artist : UV POP

Label : Mannequin

no songs tomorrow / LP

One of the best UK new-wave reissue from the 80's. UV PŘP were an early 80's post-punk group from the South Yorkshire region of England. Their sound was regionally bleak and they used staccato, angular guitars lines, with vocals ranged from spoken repeated mantras to whispered and shouted political poetics. An excerpt from the album's liner notes penned by JP Shea helps explain the political climate during which this album was recorded: "In the 80's there was nothing to smile about; nothing to smile for. The person whom some called wrongly the iron lady brought vengeful spiteful selfishness and a narrow-minded out- look into all our lives. Instead of love and respect there was: a 3-day week, Miners strike, and The Falklands War. The sound of UV PŘP has always been a sophisticated blend of sadness; with morose North Country sense and a humorous confrontational sensibility. So, you might ask why 'No Songs Tomorrow'? There is the answer. UV PŘP and John White were as certain as anybody there was a strong possibility there might not be anything left with which to make a tomorrow.. The fight back, the resistance came in the miners' strike, on the streets of north Ireland and in the sovereignty of popular culture. And, there was plenty of that in Yorkshire and particularly in the southernmost parts of that region. Working class poets had not all died with the Victorians. The Rough Trade charts for one week in 1982 tell a very interesting story. Alongside acts of the caliber of Sisters of Mercy, Robert Wyatt, Sex Gang Children and Virgin Prunes are UV PŘP, their place well-earned." Here is the reissue of their classic 1981 album..

actos de maldad / radioactividad

Artist : Vam Cyborg

Label : Domestica

actos de maldad / radioactividad / 12"

Vam Cyborg is a pioneer band in Spanish electronic music, which, all through several decades has followed an independent spirit concerning trends and sound spaces, always showing an absolute freedom of ideas. Vam Cyborg was created in the mid 1975 by Vicente Aguilera, under the name of Cyborg, as an entity which was open to all sorts of musical activities, ideas and instruments. It underwent different formations, from the classical one (drums, bass guitar, guitars, keyboard and voice) to the most daring ones in those times (synthesizers, rhythm machines, sequencers, modified machines.. and just a human being). In september 1981 Ricardo López joins them, and they start a series of performances (as an electronic duet) which they begin in the Basque Country and continue in Aragón. In their concerts, they add projections of images, metallic structures, make up and other elements which give a dramatic effect to the live and direct. They make 2 official recordings "Mortal Joy" and "Vam", and appear on different TV programmes. In 1983 they launch their 1st record: 'Actos De Maldad', a maxi-single. After that, 'Gods Valley' edited by Linacero in 1984 (later included in the 1st maxmix by Mike Platinas and Javier Ussia) and in 1986 under the name of Dirección Prohibida, they have their 3rd work edited, in Barcelona. Vam Cyborg is found in the electronic music field, always open to the new technologies and at the vandguard. From the beginning and even today, with their latest work, they experiment new sounds and rhythms. Limited edition of 350 copies only !!

a slight delay

Artist : Van Kaye + Ignit

Label : Dark Entries

a slight delay / 2x12"

Van Kaye + Ignit is the Dutch duo of Ed Van Kasteren (Van Kaye) and Ignatine Bekken (Ignit), who joined forces in the city of Arnhem during early 80's. While at university, Van Kaye was the singer of The MoNoMeN, a local new-wave band. By the end of 1979 he had become more interested in the use of electronics and rhythmic industrial patterns. In April 1980 he released a demo cassette with 30 minutes of his own work titled 'A Slight Delay'. While experimenting with synthesizers and developing extreme sounds, he met Ignit, who had previously worked in the fields of art and performance. Together they recorded their 1st 4 songs with guest musician Williem Wisselink (Wizzkopf) in the summer of 1981, and released the 'Picassos On The Wall' 7" later that year on their own Ding Dong label. Van Kaye + Ignit then began work on their debut 60 minute cassette album, 'A Slight Delay'. Like the 7", all songs were recorded and mixed by Van Kaye at his home studio on a TEAC A-3440 4-track recorder. Self-released in 1981, the album pairs conceptual sophistication with disarming naďveté in a way that has been difficult to replicate since the formative years of 'bedroom' electronic music. Both members handle vocals (or non-vocals), and songs feature everything from new wave riffs to slowly shifting oscillator buzzes and eerie electronics over mechanical rhythms. This reissue includes the entire 11-track original c-60 cassette 'A Slight Delay', as well as all 4 tracks from the 'Picassos On The Wall' 7" spread across 2 vinyl discs. The jacket is a replica based on the original 'A Slight Delay' cassette artwork, which was designed by the Van Kaye, with a hand-colored textured photograph resized and laid out by Eloise Leigh. Each album includes an 8x14 double sided insert with photos, lyrics, liner notes by the band, and a fold-out poster.. Tip !!

A good release for your long and cold winter nights.

embellishment collection 1

Artist : Various

Label : Börft Records

embellishment collection 1 / LP

Interesting compilation released in 1990 with some forgotten songs from the 80's... Music in it is absolutely unpredictable, shifting from loops experiments with noises and voices (Cruel When Complete, Systema Scrotum), minimal electronics (Min Vän, Porslinshundens Vän, End...) to dementous synth-pop/ndw songs like Meddelande Fran Rymden by Injury wich could have been a track from Guyver's Connection... But highlight goes to the swedish project Njurmännen with their powerfull Injured By Punishing Gods track. Dope !

electronic renaissance

Artist : Various

Label : Enfant Terrible

electronic renaissance / LP

It's rare to be disapointed about a new release of the dutch Enfant Terrible label and this compilation still proves it. This compilation features twelve contemporary artists with different styles and flavors in Neo electronic music. All the sounds on this release are within the tradition of the 80's new wave, but are still very clear a product of today's world. This 12" LP comes with a numbered 14 page counting booklet with information on The Electronic Renaissance and on all involved artists/tracks. Must have !

satellite cities

Artist : Various

Label : Down Low Music

satellite cities / 12"

Various Artist ep that shows the talents of Dallas based artists. A side contains 3 tracks that focus on electro. It includes stuff by Ricky Simpson in a mix of Direct Beat and Kraftwerk styles, D-Ram in a more Detroit mid-tempo style), Plastic Sleeves : spacey and minimal cut reminding us K1. B side concentrates on deep and dub techno. The artists on it are DFD (beautiful string laden track with haunting melodies) and Convextion (known for their releases on the Detroit Matrix label as well as Tektite). Great release for techno and electro lovers alike !
