Artist : Nitzer Ebb

ebbhead / LP

Ebbhead finds the group bringing their new fascination with more traditional song approaches to greater heights. Douglas McCarthy's lyrics are much more of a story/narrative kind in this album than the endless commands of the past, while his voice, if still sometimes intentionally strained, shows much greater fluidity and range than before. Similarly, the killer arrangements show even more detail and variety. Good One !

let your body learn / control I

Artist : Nitzer Ebb

Label : NovaMute

let your body learn / control I'm here / 12"

Nitzer Ebb's classics getting remixed by Terence Fixmer & The Hacker. The Fixmer's version of "Let Your Body Learn" is more dance orientated, f-m style, so it’s kind of different from what Nitzer Ebb did. The Hacker's remix gives Nitzer Ebb's "Control I'm Here" a more smashy techno touch.. Fresh !

as is

Artist : Nitzer Ebb

Label : Mute

as is / 12"

"As Is" was an awesome ep that was released in 1991 and coincided with "Ebbhead" lp. "Family Man" is just taken from the album but the other tracks stand out as being some of the best non album tracks ever by Nitzer Ebb. "Come Alive" should have been included on "Ebbhead" and it should have been its own single and video. The lyrics, vocals and drumming on this track are some of the best I have ever heard. "Lovesick" and "Higher" also should have been included and I have no idea what prompted the band to make this seemingly strange and odd decision.. This was the last great release from Nitzer Ebb before they just lost it completely !

basic pain procedure

Artist : Nitzer Ebb

Label : Pylon Records

basic pain procedure / LP

Available now for the 1st time ever is Nitzer Ebb's 'Basic Pain Procedure' on vinyl, which many fans consider, the holy grail of their catalogue. This release which comprises some of their earliest material ever, was a cassette-only release that was primarily a tool to attract attention from record labels but was also available for purchase at the time. It was recorded in the Essex countryside in 1983, a year after the band played their 1st ever show at the Chelmsford YMCA, and was virtually the extent of their then live set. After this initial recording a slew of new songs were written that eventually went on to form the debut album, 'That Total Age', and, with the exception of "Home" which was reworked into KIA for the 'Belief' album, the 'Basic Pain Procedure' tracks were replaced never to be heard again. The release also contains a double sided insert with the alternate black & white cassette cover and rare photos and flyers from that era. Only 600 copies are pressed in total, here on black vinyl.!

Recorded live in january '86 and boosted by the fury of synthetisers the last track "Realism" enclose this brilliant 12".

masters 1992

Artist : Njurmannen

masters 1992 / LP

Originally released on tape in 1985. A bit ruffer sound than their 1st cassette and also the original mastertape was not in the best shape but still worth releasing it! Real special synth-pop, a sound only Njurmännen can make... Some weird dark sounds are also on the Lp. Limited to 500 copies & highly recommended !!!

Artist : No More

Label : Rent A Dog

sunday mitternacht / a rose is a rose / 7"

No More's 1st release on their own new label Rent A Dog is a double-A-sided single with "Sunday Mitternacht", a dark surrealistic clubnumber, they composed with Echopark producer Torsten Stenzel; and "A Rose Is A Rose" was supposed to be the title track of their 1982 ep. Finally this hypnotic track shines brightly in its new 2010 version. Nice come-back !

suicide commando

Artist : No More

Label : Mannequin

suicide commando / 12"

12" reissue of No More "Suicide Commando", one of the most influential singles that ever reach the underground surface in the past 35 years. Originally released in 1981 as a 7" single, and subsequently reprinted in 1984 as a 12" single with a different tracklist on the B-Side, the single was in the following years spreading internationally regardless of genres and scenes. A couple of years after these Germans recorded this, it spread like a virus to become a cult classic. The virus is still spreading to this day. No More were founded by Andy A. Schwarz (vocals, guitar, bass), Tina Sanudakura (synthesizers), Christian Darc (drums, vocals) and Thomas Welz (bass, vocals) in Kiel, a seaside town in the northern part of Germany. The 7" ep 'Too Late' was the 1st release in 1980 and was recorded in a small laundry-room with a 4-track TEAC (the ep was reviewed in the German SOUNDS-magazine as 'strangely, archaic music, brute sound that seems to be recorded with a purposely damaged 4-track'). After the departure of Thomas Welz at the end of 1980, No More worked as a trio until the end of 1983. During that period the band recorded the song "Suicide Commando", basically their biggest success. In the 90's the song entered the techno and electro scene, when it was remixed by Dj Hell and Echopark (Moguai & Torsten Stenzel). A minimal electro classic, highly recommended in a collectible limited edition of 500 copies. Exclusive for the Record Store Day 2015 ;)

a rose is a rose

Artist : No More

Label : Dark Entries

a rose is a rose / LP+7"

No More are a band from Kiel, Germany, founded in the summer of 1979. Their music is rooted in early post-punk / no-wave. No More began as a quartet with Andy A. Schwarz (vocals, guitar, bass), Tina Sanudakura (synthesizers), Christian Darc (drums, vocals) and Thomas Welz (bass, vocals). They self-released their debut 7" 4 song ep 'Too Late' in 1980. The ep was reviewed in the German 'Sounds' magazine as "strangely, archaic music, a brute sound that seems to be recorded with a purposely damaged 4-track”. After the departure of Thomas Welz at the end of 1980, No More worked as a trio until the end of 1983. As a trio the band explored musical minimalism and experimented with sequencers, drum synthesizers and rhythm boxes. There were no studios involved in the recording process. All recordings were made in bunkers, laundry rooms, cellars and rehearsal rooms. In 1981 the band released their 2nd single "Suicide Commando". The song spread internationally over the following years and became the band's biggest success. In 1982 No More released the mini-album 'A Rose Is A Rose' on 10", described by NME as "made by a trio of young Germans who appear to have fallen out of Lou Reed's 'Berlin' album". Songs on this mini-LP convey the desolate and bleak attitude of German youth in the early 80's. This reissue compiles all 8 tracks from the mini-LP, both tracks from the 'Suicide Commando' 7" plus 3 demos from 1982. As a bonus each LP includes the original 'Too Late' 7" ep remastered and housed in an exact copy of the original jacket. The jacket is a replica of the original 'A Rose Is A Rose' 10" artwork designed by Stefan Brose, resized for a 12" LP and laid out by Eloise Leigh. Each album includes an 11x14 double-sided, foldout poster insert with photos and lyrics. As Dj duo Optimo said of "Suicide Commando": 'A song that refuses to die. A couple of years after these Germans recorded this; it spread like a virus to become a cult classic. The virus is still spreading to this day".

invasion / LP

No Unauthorized was a French band from Melun (south suburb of Paris) active between 1980 and early 90's. The band was omnipresent in the tape wave scene with almost 100 appearances on various labels like Bain Total, Insane Music , EE Tapes or V.I.S.A. Their music can be described as minimal synth-pop with smart silly French lyrics. Add an experimental Diy spirit and you have one of the most original French 80's band. Invasion is an 8 tracks tape album originally released in 1987 on Fraction Studio (home of Philippe Laurent and DZ Lectric) and is probably their most accomplished work. It captures all the personality and freedom of the group who had no taboo to ridicule any situation. Limited edition of 200 standard numbered copies with A4 insert. Splendid starting release for this new Camisole Rec. label ;)

Artist : Nosztalgia Direktiva

Label : Enfant Terrible

untiltled / 7"

Nosztalgia Direktíva is a project from Hungary that obviously prefers to remain anonymous, so not much is known about them. A member has already appeared as G.K. Agenda on the defunct French Invasion Planète Records. As Nosztalgia Direktíva one track was released on Enfant Terrible’s last compilation “Festival der Genialen Dilettanten”. All tracks are pure analogue synth, very early 80’s, and very cold, most comparable to November Növelet style. Limited to 300 copies. Nice Shot ;-D

Artist : Not Only Bones

Label : Geheimnis Records

untitled / LP

With its 3rd release, Geheimnis Records is getting into the deep waters of the alternative sound of the Greek 80's underground. Not Only Bones consisted of 2 persons : Yannis Raikos (music & vocals) and Philippe Mignon (lyrics & background ambiance). They self-released 2 cassette tapes back in 1984 and 1986, which were far ahead of their time, having a unique sound, mixing contemporary dark synth sounds with avant-garde and ambient elements. Probably, there's no other band of that era, that has improvised in such peculiar and out-of-the-ordinary sounds like Not Only Bones. Using mostly synthesizers and an EMS emulator, they've created a claustrophobic, obscure and gloomy atmosphere, where some melodies may create a fake optimistic environment, only for the lyrics to pull you back into a pessimistic reality. This Lp presents the 2st of the 2 cassette tapes from 1984. It's the debut (more raw and harsh) album, including 14 anti-conformist tracks. This 'sound-jigsaw book' was carefully remastered from the original tapes by Yannis Raikos himself, without the help of whom, this true music gem could have never been released. 315 hand-numbered copies release that comes with an ecological A4-size insert with the lyrics and the instruments used by the band, during the recording of the cassette tape, back in 1984. Whaoh!!

Malte Steiner from Hamburg works for round about 20 years as musican, sound-researcher and artist with several musical projects like Das Kombinat, Elektronengehim, Konform and of course Notstandskomitee had some club hits mostly in the dark-wave scene, but have a good name in the more experimental electro scene, somewherebetween techno and minmal-electro, and academic circles too. All 4 tracks show the more mainstream side of Notstandskomitee ans surelly will be hits on all minimal electro gigs in a near future !

the world in devotion

Artist : November Novelet

Label : Galakthorro

the world in devotion / LP

In recompense for the long waiting time, November Növelet is rewarding its dedicated listeners with a carefully created complete work of art, which complements its celebrated precursor 'Magic', in a splendid fashion. The new album shows a further development; the magical mixture continues: Mrs Arafna's unique vocal timbre, a beguilingly resigned performance full of melancholy, couched in deep black analogue electronics embossed with the characteristic Növeletic stamp. Fragile ghostly melodies, with weeping pad sounds together in tried and tested partnership, powered by driving bass figures and thrashing rhythms that strike sparks of divine light through the comfortless darkness of the present European condition. Let your soul be illuminated from this shining jewel of timeless synthesiser music, and thus experience 'The World In Devotion'. Standard black vinyl 2nd edition, sturdy cardboard cover, standard white inner sleeve, not numbered..

todas las ultimas cosas

Artist : Novy Svet

Label : Treue Um Treue

todas las ultimas cosas / LP

Do not expect here the bohemian combat folk or mediterranean neo-cabaret which have become the band’s trademark, because as wilful and unpredictable today as they ever were, Novy Svet delivers with this last opus what might also be the biggest tour de force of their career: “Todas Las Ultimas Cosas” is an uncompromising, all electronic minimal wave opus, quite unlike everything even the hardcore fans will have heard from the band before… An album which would fit more appropriately in the flexi-pop than in the post-industrial section of your record shelves, along with Dark Day, Njurmännen and Ende Schneafliet, or Pierre Normal to name a more contemporary band... 100% electro, 100% Novy Svet : the Viennese band seal their career with a flourish ;)

Artist : NRSB-11

Label : WeMe Records

commodified / 2x12"

Drexciyan spawn, NRSB-11 (aka Gerald Donald & Sherard Ingram) proceed their stunning debut 12" with this full album of dystopian Detroit electro. Now joined by Zwischenwelt's Penélope Martin and Popsimonova's Lana Jastrevski on vocals, Mssrs Dopplereffekt and Stingray have realised a near-perfect vision of 313 sonic fiction (easily one of the finest to emerge their broken but determinedly valiant home city in years). As with Jeff Mills' more recent, ambitious Axis projects melding speculative story-telling and cinematic composition, NRSB-11 evokes rich imagery with a mix of cryptic and poignant movie dialogue and a production style balancing rugged, super bass-heavy electro rhythm with bleakly romantic synth arrangements. But where Mills has his eyes turned to the skies, NRSB-11 extrapolates its inspiration from socio-economic reality, inferred by track titles such as "Consumer Programming", "Living Wage" and "Austerity". It's the soundtrack to a near future or even present where deserted streets are scanned by quadrotor sentinels and crenellated financial institutions are policed by hired security armies, manifesting a heightened state of tension in the EBM alert of "Globalization" and the over-caffeinated jit of "Shadow Corp", whilst the likes of "Dead Civilization" with its deeply pessimistic film samples and skulking groove, or the icily emotive "Bioethics" best reflect its unshakable feeling of paranoia and despair. A massive recommendation to all afro-futurists, Detroit fiends and sci-fi/sonic fiction freaks. Tip !!

Label : A.D.S.R.

return backscape / LP

After several releases on Ultra Dub Recordings this is the 1st and only release (in 2000) on A.D.S.R. by the Finnish band Nu Science. On this record Henri Tani and Mikko Ojanen created a mixture of neat electronica melodies made with tons of analog synths and C-64 sounds. This album is more an adventure game than a jump and run. Tired robots with low batteries smile amused while riding a space shuttle returning back to space...

I can't wait / 12"

Nu Shooz was an 80's dance music group fronted by husband and wife duo John Smith and Valerie Day, based out of Portland. In 1986 they scored their major funky pop dance hit "I Can't Wait", which climbed to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Hot Dance Music Club Play chart.. Classic !!

Artist : Nu-Sound II Crew / Magnus II

Label : Dark Entries

split / 12"

Reissue split ep of rare and out of print Detroit electro jams from Nu-Sound II Crew & Magnus II. Both were projects of mastermind Sam Anderson (aka Dj Maestro). Growing up on the westside of Detroit, Maestro joined the Marine Corps in 1979 and was turned on to electronic music. One of his fellow Marines was a Dj from Brooklyn who schooled Maestro on how to mix records, blending dance songs seamlessly. While stationed on base in california, he set up a Dj crew called Nu-Sounds and perfected his technical skills. He returned to Detroit in 1984 and auditioned for the electrifying Mojo on WJLB. It was there that he met the godfather of Techno, Juan Atkins, who introduced him to emerging new sounds of dance & party music. Juan showed him how to make and record music using a Roland 808 and 909, Linn Drum and a Boss DR-55 drum machine. In 1986 Maestro created a new alias for himself, Nu-Sound II Crew, by adding a roman numeral II to his former Dj crew name. That year he self-released his 1st 12" single 'The Speed Of Light' on Sound Wave Records. Only 500 copies were made and distributed by Juan Atkins' Metroplex Records. Influenced by Kraftwerk & Cybotron, Nu-Sound II Crew created fresh, fast, dark electro beats with tough drum machines and lyrics about traveling through outer space. A 2nd single was released that same year, "1001 Beats", a slower, deep and heavy vocoder track with guitar by Jerome Blackwell that riffs the 'Batman Theme' during the break. By the late 80's, Maestro was using different alias such as Sam a& Dave, Zetta, and Magnus II to make it look like a lot of artists were on his new label Steppin' Forward Records. Magnus II was named after guitarist Jeff Magnus who plays on the sole 12″ single from the project 'Roctronic / Space Age' released in 1993. For this EP reissue, all 3 original mixes of "Space Age" are included: LP version, dub, and remix. "Space Age" blends EBM rhythms with tough drum machine beats to create an electro hybrid somewhere between Belgium and Detroit. Each copy includes a post card with a photo of the Nu Sounds crew DJing in 1984..

happiness and contempt

Artist : Null And Void

Label : Medical Records LLC

happiness and contempt / LP

Very special double A side reissue of Fullerton, CA band Null And Void. Null And Void recorded 3 albums (1980's 'Happiness And Contempt' , 1982's 'Montage Morte' and a 3rd in 2012). Both of the 80's LPs have relatively short playtimes, so we have decided to reissue both in their entirety on each side of this reissue. Hailing from a very diverse musical scene, Null And Void forged their own sound fusing elements of new-wave, post-punk, cabaret and less characterized roots. Both of the LPs have gone long out of print and have become collectible with the resurgence and interest in post-punk and new-wave. Different from the often colder synth and wave scene, Null And Void headed into a more punk sound with heavier overtones and quirky hooks. The opening track "All The Old Humans" displays poignant synth lines before the track takes off into a total rock anthem. "Un Sedatif Ce Soir" is a standout track on the 1st album with twists and turns chock full of smoldering synth lines, jerking rhythms, and other surprises. The 2nd album 'Montage Morte' displays the evolution of the band just 2 years later after the debut. A slightly different mood overall, it has a more DiY home recorded feel. The opener "Motorcycle Song" is very catchy and tends to keep the listener humming it their mind for days to come. "Japanese Forest" is a gorgeous simple number with atmospheric soundscapes coated in melancholy vocals and texture. This LP will appeal to fans of early post-punk / wave hybrids and other unclassifiable early 80's acts that defined this wonderful 'scene'. Contains bonus insert with multiple writings and reflections by band members, friends, and the like. Presented on high quality 180gr blue vinyl.

Artist : Nuvo West

Label : Synthetic Shadows

untitled / LP

Hailing from the ashes of Phoenix legends of The Red Squares, after their disbanding in the winter of 1983, Sonic Mike Stephens (lead vocals and guitar) and the other guitarist and keyboard player Roger Lee Chavous decided to start another band. They met bass player Walter Charchuck, and than started kicking around a crazy idea of combing country with synth-punk material using a shitty drum machine. Greg David, the drummer, combined both drum machine and electronic drums. The plan was to dress like a new age cowboys, as all of them were from Arizona. Unlike some of the local Rock groups, Nuvo West took a decidedly different approach to their style of playing. Art galleries like the Awun House, hosted basement parties with the band that people were taking notice of. Opening for everyone from the Del Fuegos to buddies Rank N File, Nuvo worked their tails off. Enter buddy/studio wiz, Fred North. Using Sonic Mike's practice studio, Fred set up his Tascam 4 track and recorded the now sought after 'Scary' ep. Included on the record were original songs written by Fred with a very heavy western influence, aka Apache and originals written by Sonic and Wally. Debuting the ep at a trendy 'Alternative' club in Scottsdale, the band combined fence post props with several tvs playing homemade videos, including violent car crashes and porn. The audience loved it. The ep sold well locally, and the boys went out to tour in a limited fashion. In 1984, the band recorded their biggest album to date, 'Twankin', a word the band loved. Fantastic repress of the sought after 'Scary' LP ;)

pink & purple / LP

At first O.R.D.U.C. was a band founded in 1971 wich wanted to play a mixture of Frank Zappa’s and Pink Floyd’s music. But after the initial members had left, the founder Nico Selen decided to go on an experimental music project. The songs from this album were taken from the original cassette-album released in 1981. You can get here the original and unplayed copies of this wonderful minimal-pop and weird album. Not to be missed...

After the ultra limited 7" "Do", O.R.D.U.C. came up with this great new album. About half of the tracks on this record are from 1980-81 but were finished more recently. The style is still typical O.R.D.U.C.: weird pop, minimalistic electronics and soundscapes. If you like the cult album "Pink & Purple" from 1981, this new record will please you for sure.. ;)

universal hologram

Artist : Obergman

Label : Borft

universal hologram / 12"

Another excursion for the genre independent Börft label. Celebrated artist Obergman delivers a 6 tracker record for fans of acid and electro. The release is initiated with the drexciyan styled electro track "Germination" with occasional strings that brings some light in the atmosphere of desolate landscapes, followed by the groovy electrotech melodic track "Unexpected Connection", the acid techno workout "Acid Healing" slowly builds with sweet melodic strings into floorfilling potential while the B-side begins with "Inflatable". A bass ridden driving acid techno track with ominous melodic stabs that works well when doing a build-up mix into more frenzy territory. B2 track "Greenglow" explores rocking acid lines bonded by delicate smooth Detroit styled strings. Last track of the record "Universal Hologram" is a strong beautiful electro track with great electric pulses, melancholic atmosphere and subtle strings..

progress through research

Artist : Occidental White

Label : OnderStroom Records

progress through research / 7"

2 minimal synth-pop pearls 1st released on the compilation 'Walkin' After Midnight' in 1982. They're in the same vein as early 80's singles by Carol (Breakdown) and Rive Gauche (Friends Are Friends). Both tracks on the 7" are a delightful proof of the lively and creative music scene in Brussels during the early 80's, supported by labels such as Factory Benelux and Les Disques Crépuscule and the famous venue Plan K. Occidental White was founded at same time as Kaa Antilope, the extraordinary new wave band founded by Bernard Vranckx and Frédéric Walheer. Bernadette was the additional member and took care of the vocal part. The idea was to do 'pop' songs inspired by occidental white culture, which was the opposite to Kaa Antilope which was more focused on outside inspiration. Edition of 300 copies !

This fresh Belgian label brings you the debut release of Rotterdam based producer and italo enthousiast Odessa, also known for the vocoder action in Alden Tyrell's live shows. Phat vocoder electro & italo-disco influences is the trademark of this ep, delivering the dark and funky title track "Polar Intrusion" and the deep and spacey "Play Missty For Me" on A-side. B-side takes you straight up to disco land with "Sketch", feat. a pumpin wall of sound rework by The Starlight Boyz. Limited to 500 copies. Nice One ;)

After a CD anthology released few years ago, Odessa is back 30 years after its mythical 1st release, with 2 unreleased and unsuspected tracks taking us back to 1983. Despite a short and fast existence (no more than 3 years), few tracks (about 15 or so) and fewer gigs, with an official discography reduced to a mere 7" back in 1982, this French band quickly reached a cult aura that remained exhaustless, as testified by the ongoing generational process of painful hours that they inflict. Limited to 300 copies.

Artist : OGI

Label : Medical Records LLC

untitled / LP

Originally released in 1980 on EMI France, the OGI Lp is the work of Hungarian-born Peter Ogi. He obtained formal education in music composition at the Budapest Music Academy and quickly thereafter formed the very early Hungarian punk outfit, the Spions. Though never documented on tape, the Spions were considered very important in the Hungarian music scene. In the late 70's, Peter began travelling back and forth between Paris and London where he worked together with legendary producer of the Sex Pistols, Malcolm McLaren. Their collaboration was integral to the creation of the OGI Lp. It was recorded in Autumn 1980. The album was composed by Peter Ogi with lyrics written by Malcolm McLaren on over half of the tracks. Unfortunately, the record was criminally overlooked most likely due to it's French-only release. It is now being reintroduced for the 1st time in over 30 years. The Lp is a phenomenal creation of synthesized pop. The album's opener "King Kong's Fear" creates the mood with minimal synth leanings and unusual hooks that set the stage for an adventurous slide down the synthesized rabbit-hole. The 2nd cut "Resist Dance" was also a 7" single and is a standout track of infectious catchiness. "She, Wolf, Woof!" is a very interesting and dramatic piece that is obviously different from contemporary synth-pop from the era. The namesake track, "O.G.I." is a tempo-shifting cabaret-style ditty that warns you 'The OGI is watching you!'. This record is a totally original bombastic work of synth-pop art created by a uniquely talented artist. Since this record, Peter Ogi has been active in a wide spectrum of styles and genres, but the OGI Lp remains his sole opus of synth art-punk. For fans and devotees of early Fad Gadget, Daniel Miller, Malcolm McLaren sole efforts, and new-wave of the minimal varieties. Presented on high-quality 180gm magenta vinyl in a hand-numbered limited edition of 650 copies. Huge !!

Artist : Opera Multi Steel

Label : Dark Entries

untitled / 12"

Opera Multi Steel was born during the winter of 1983 in Bourges, a city in the center of France. The band started off as a trio with Franck Lopez (vocals, keyboards, guitars), his brother Patrick L. Robin (vocals, percussion) and Catherine M. Marie (keyboards, vocals). They began to record demos utilizing a Elex Keyboard, Casio VL-Tone, Roland TR-606 drum machine, guitars and pedals. Layering organ-like keyboards over drum machine snares and a woodwind recorder, they created a unique style of medieval or baroque synth-pop. The result was a 4-song debut, eponymous ep, released in 1984 on their own label Orcadia Machina. The songs range from fast and bright, new-wave influenced by O.M.D.'s "Electricity" and slower, brooding darkwave ballads like "17 Seconds", 'Faith' era Cure. All songs were sung in French with lyrics about feeling of nihilism, disgust with life and escaping to a botanical garden in search of redemption. It was a pre-cursor to their darker and classic French coldwave sounds of their debut album 'Cathedrale' released the following year. The jacket is die-cut replica of the original sleeve using master templates the band created in 1984 and offset printed on heavy French off-white card stock. Each copy includes an inner sleeve printed with lyrics and perspective line drawings by Jean Vredeman de Vries from the 17th century.

Andy Oppenheimer, a science editor from UK and Martin Lloyd of Analysis formed this duo in the early 80's. This twelve-inch four track EP originally taken from various tapes reminds us the early Human League with their strong synth-melodies (Radiance). Lyrics are well-thought-out, incisive and provocative (Cold War)... and at the opposite Andy dives us into a futuristic and new romantic mood with the cult "Devil's Dancers" track. To complete our pleasure this 12" contains a beautiful poster including the lyrics. 4th repress edition...

Artist : Oppenheimer Analysis

Label : Minimal Wave

new mexico / 2x12"

Newly remastered deluxe double album of archival material by pioneering 80's minimal electronic duo Oppenheimer Analysis. Oppenheimer Analysis formed in London, England in 1982 by Andy Oppenheimer & Martin Lloyd. Their 1st meeting though was at the 1979 World Science Fiction Convention in Brighton. They quickly became good friends, sharing an interest in the work of David Bowie, electronic music and early synthesizer bands such as the Human League and Soft Cell. They also shared a love of old science fiction movies, 50's graphics and comic book imagery and a fascination with post-World War II propaganda, the politics and aesthetics of the Cold War, and the social impact of the atomic bomb. Over the next few years Andy and Martin frequented the growing club scene, including Studio 21 on Oxford Street, and became involved in the developing Futurist and New Romantic style sub-cultures. During this period Martin recorded as Analysis, both alone and with David Rome of Drinking Electricity. They released their 1st single, 'Surface Tension/Connections' on David's Survival label in 1981. In 1982, Oppenheimer Analysis began writing and recording together at Feedback Studio in Battersea, and performed several times at The Bell, Islington, the 1983 World David Bowie Convention in Hammersmith, the Starzone Birthday Party at Camden Palace, the 1984 European Science Fiction Convention in Brighton and other live venues. Their 1st demo tape and 12 song 'New Mexico' cassette were sold at gigs and by mail-order, and were reviewed in Melody Maker, Sounds and Soundmaker. For the years to follow, Oppenheimer Analysis became recognized among electro-music aficionados as a pioneering duo who influenced countless other bands during the club and home-recording era of the early 80's and beyond. Their cassettes became massively collectible. In 2005 they re-formed with the release of a self-titled four song 12"ep of selections from the 'New Mexico' cassette, including "Cold War" and "The Devil's Dancers". This marked the 1st release on Minimal Wave. Now in 2015, the entire 'New Mexico' collection, newly remastered and cut to vinyl for the 1st time ever, celebrates 10 year anniversary of Minimal Wave. This 1st edition of 1000 copies is pressed on deluxe 'nuclear' style black and white 160gr vinyl, housed in a glossy gatefold silver and black printed sleeve, featuring all the song lyrics on the inside of the sleeve. This quintessential reissue has been produced in loving memory of Martin Lloyd. RIP

Taken from their 1984 album "Junk Culture", "Tesla Girls" is about people that use technology and don't know how they work. This is some sort of philosophical idea. So the girl that has a shallow interest in appliances and beauty actually are worshiping the god of technology. Tesla invented the coil that heats air in hairdryers etc.. Great synth-pop by UK legends O.M.D.

dazzle ships

Label : Virgin

dazzle ships / LP

OMD's 4th album followed a reasonably successful self-titled debut in 1980, then the escalating successes of the same year's "Organisation", and "Architecture & Morality" in 1981, but now the lads felt it was time for some experimentation. Britain and Europe in the early 80's was dominated by Margaret Thatcher and her Cold War politics, and this threatening atmosphere greatly influenced Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys' themes on "Dazzle Ships"; however, despite the album's quirky mix of futuristic sounds and Iron Curtain radio broadcasts evoking almost pre-electricity sentiments, it wasn't all doom and gloom. "Genetic Engineering", "Telegraph", "Radio Waves" and "Of All The Things We've Made" all fall well within the synth-pop field, but tracks such as "Time Zones", "This Is Helena" and "ABC Auto-Industry", with found and mechanised vocals, threw the fans completely, as did the title track's evocation of the nightmare world of submarine dread and sonar-blip tension. A couple of the more balladic tracks, such as the dreamy "Romance Of The Telescope", bear vestiges of the late new romantic era, but ultimately the ballads, the pop numbers, the darker moments, the Eastern Bloc radio programs and the assorted bleeps & mechanical voices all seamlessly combine in one of popular music's finest offerings. Top album !!

This record shows that Brian Chinetti (aka Orgue Electronique) won't be trapped in a genre. "Texas Brooklyn Heaven" has a distinct Chicago house sound. However as always, this artist manages to leave something like a personal autograph. It just combines everyhting you heard from Orgue Electronique before : the minimal analog filtered sounds, the sleazy disconess, the stiff yet funky repetitive basslines, all are combined in a typical 1988 Chicago sound taking it to a level of it's own. And that spells Fresh !

Ortrotasce follow their appearance on one of last year's finest new compilations '290.625' for Sweden's Flexiwave label, with a debut pair of sheer body-wave missiles. "World Unrelated" is a lean and insistent update of classic cold wave, driving and emotional; "Lost Concept" is icier, moodier, revolving around a brilliant guitar hook straight out of The Cure, RIYL Cold Cave or Cult Of Youth. Nice One ;)

Artist : Ortrotasce

Label : Disko Obscura

untitled / LP

Disko Obscura presents Ortrotasce's self-titled debut album. A binary selection of the artist's prolific work, Ortrotasce is a 2-headed beast. Side A opens with the brilliant "World Un Related", underscored by anxious synths, driving bassline, and spectral vocals. "New System" follows suit with throbbing drums and a woeful guitar rhythm, while the instrumentals "Diffuse" and "Shatter" feature heavy coldwave synths and dizzying sequences. Side B turns feral headlined by "Losing Mind", an EBM behemoth driven by loaded industrial percussion and savage singing/shouting. The same severity surfaces in "The Body", "Passion", and "Expanding Room", the latter a tenebrous instrumental marked by clever and infectious bass lines and rhythms. Limited to 500 hand numbered copies, pressed on black 160gr vinyl with thick spot glossed black on black pocket jacket and custom insert. Tip !

Artist : Os Ovni

Label : Something Cold

let's leave reality / LP

Debut LP from Florida's intergalactic synth duo, Os Ovni. Having performed together for 15 years under various experimental electronic projects, Logan Owlbeemoth and Omebi Velouria formed Os Ovni in 2010 while living in Austin, TX. With two 7" & 12" releases and an appearance on the Something Cold compilation LP behind them, the vortex they navigate with us continues to grow. 'Let's Leave Reality' features 8 tracks of experimental electronic pop lost in time and space. The psychedelic harmonies and colliding layers of synths paint a vision of a future that isn't so much bleak as it is paranoid. Hyper-paced drum machines buzz under the shimmering structure of the synths. Logan and Omebi's vocals stir in perfect harmony glazed with lost celluloid inspired visions. 'Let's Leave Reality' is a transmission that could have only resonated from somewhere as extraterrestrial as Florida. Os Ovni has continued to teach us how to escape reality, and explore our dreams. They might not have come from outer space to save the human race, rather leave our thoughts abducted in haze of analogue oscillations and fragile pop melodies. White vinyl edition limited to 200 copies. Fresh..

purge an urge / LP

After the success of the 'Anyway' 12", Oto, now a 3-piece band, played a few gigs before entering the studio to record their one and only album 'Purge An Urge'. Produced by Vincent Hachet from French industrial duo Geinst Naït, 'Purge An Urge' was supposed to contain 9 tracks but the final release saw only 6 tracks. Cécile from fellow Nancy's band Candidate even did some backing vocals. Released in 1986 on French label Divine, known to have released Mecano, Tuxedomoon, Fra Lippo Lippi, Minimal Compact, etc., it was poorly promoted and was mainly sold in Nancy area. The music was as vibrant as their 1st effort and evokes the sound of bands like Second Layer, End Of Data, Das Kabinette, Grauzone or Martin Dupont. Pascal Hubert then formed and still performs in French successful alternative band Double Nelson. Now a much sought-after record, 'Purge An Urge' is reissued for the very 1st time on vinyl. This release has been entirely remastered by Anders Post from the original vinyl. Fat record on orange vinyl with printed inner-sleeve and download card, limited to 300 copies. :)

ute på vift

Artist : PA Tronic

Label : Anna Logue Records

ute på vift / LP

PA Tronic were childhood friends Patric Dimander & Anders Wågberg from Skyttorp near Uppsala, in Sweden. They were active between 1983 and 1985 while in their youngest teenage years, influenced by the electronic pop heroes of the time Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, The Twins, Heaven 17, or Sweden's own Page or Noise. Originally equipped with a Roland TR-606, a SCI Pro-One, a Yamaha CS-01 and an Elka string machine (later to be followed by a TR-909, Korg Mono/Poly, Poly-61, Poly-800, Roland Juno-60), they went off to record their own electro pop hits in their parents' basements, full of awesome manual bass synth 'sequencing', synthetic percussion, meldodies and vocals in English or Swedish. They had quite a bit of hits, just listen to "Sol", "The Future", "Ute På Vift" as well as their epic theme "PA1" or "Söker" which reminds of good'ole F242 times. This album 'Ute På Vift' compiles all rescued recordings from 1983/84 plus adding 2 new recordings of "Ute På Vift" and "Sol" from 2011 to the track list. In 2010 PA Tronic also reformed in order to finally fulfill their dream of recording a proper album. Nothing more to say then but 'Fill your head with PA Tronic!'.

in the grassfield

Artist : Palais Des Bauzards

Label : OnderStroom Records

in the grassfield / LP

Palais Des Bauzards persued an industrial and electronic variant of the sound that swept into vogue during the 1st half of the 80's. This compilation digs into the original material provided by the band and offers an amazing selection from start to finish. The sometimes rudimentary though gripping tracks on the 1st side are emblematic for their early period, for example "Money" a song driven by a screeching rhythm box, distant guitar lines and a nonchalant voice. Cabaret Voltaire comes to mind. They're not afraid to experiment and to explore new horizons (the track "Lies"). The 2nd side shows a more developed darkwave sound with "In The Grassfield" and "Knowing Too Much" both produced by legendary Belgian producer Ludo Camberlin. On top of this there are 2 dark goth rock stomper hidden in the selection, they hide by the names "My Life Is A Sin" & "Eat Out Of My Hands". Overall it's a broad selection of tracks which show the capability of the band to do something different with the new wave genre. Initially the band was formed in 1983 in the Belgian city of Leuven by Danny Jacobs, Dirk Van Regenmortel, Chris Serré, Frank De Wit and Rudy Stuyckens. In 1983 they released 2 tracks on the Mask Live LP together with Front 242. In the 3 following years many of their home recorded tracks were published on a bunch of cassette labels. Since the beginning of the 21st century, many Palais Des Bauzards tracks can be found on playlists around Europe and the USA and are being reissued on LPs. Most recently on the compilation albums 'Underground Wave Vol. 4' and 'Distant Waves'. Limited edition of 500 copies

The art of minimalism and reduction is one of the challenging difficulties in music making. Only a select group of artists pulled it off to create strong timeless minimal pieces that are still relevant in todays music environment. Think Jeff Mills, Rob Hood, Terrence Dixon, Daniel Bell, Ectomorph, BC, Mika Vainio... to just name a few. The art of reduction is like fine Italian food; Good basics and limited ingredients. Seasoning is mostly used to cover up bad taste. Pamétex is one of those cats that made music without the 'seasoning' of todays techniques. In the surprisingly short productive period (around 2000 when he co-produced with I-f in the Murdercapital heydays), he just wrote a bunch of tracks on a rhythm box, synth and a sequencer recorded straight to tape. What came out is now known in inner circles as highlights from electro's 2nd wave. Respected and favourited by lots of artists and serious music collectors. Here are the last pieces of the puzzle. Lost tracks from the dusty PMTX vaults. Recovered from the original tapes by Chris Callahan. Minimalism from a true musical mastermind !

the golden years / LP

Parade Ground has always been the duo of brothers Jean-Marc and Pierre Pauly from Brussels formed in 1981. Taking cues from post-punk, coldwave, dada and surrealism, Parade Ground channeled suffering, tension and rage through pulsing synthesizers, skeletal guitar, severe bass and Jean-Marc’s expressive vocals as the most melodic and emotional instrument. 'The Golden Years' is an 11-song, career-spanning collection of Parade Ground’s long out-of-print 7" and 12" singles as well as rare compilation tracks from the pioneers of emotional body music created during 1982-88. Each LP includes a 6-page press kit with lyrics, discography, photos and liner notes by Daniel B. of Front 242. The history of Belgian electronic music would not be complete without this gem. Artist : Parade Ground

Label : Minimal Maximal

the 15th floor / LP

'The 15th Floor' dates back to 1989, there is a pervasive sense of nostalgia when listening to this album. It is very much a product of its time as each synth and drum machine patch sounds rather dated, the production of the guitars, bass, and vocals having a primitively subdued quality quintessential to the tools and techniques of the period. Not that this in any way hinders the appeal of the album, which surely stands up next to such classic gems as Nine Inch Nails' 'Pretty Hate Machine' or Front Line Assembly's 'Gashed Senses & Crossfire', with just enough melody and rock texture that recalls the likes of New Order's 'Technique'. While 'The 15th Floor' may not necessarily hold up to today's standards of production and sound quality, it is at least an enjoyable listen and a pleasant trip down EBM memory lane..

Artist : Pas De Deux

Label : Minimal Wave

cardiocleptomanie / LP

Belgian pop trio, best known for their participation in the 1983 Eurovision song contest. The group was formed in 1982 by Walter Verdin joined by Hilde Van Roy and Dett Peyskens. They released 2 LP's and several singles along with some incredible video work produced by Verdin himself. Stylistically, their music is a bit post-punk and completely new-wave with vocals reminiscent of the indie girl bands of the late 70's and early 80's. The slower tracks are quite dreamy, repetitive and hypnotic. The title track "Cardiocleptomanie" has been described as "a 'less is more' sum composed of drum machine, wood blocks and bongos, a few tasty minimal synth lines, and an overlay of repetitive female vocals that touch a Krafwerkian harmonic nerve". The 'Cardiocleptomanie' LP gathers the best of Pas De Deux's newly remastered studio recordings and presents them as an edition of 999 hand-numbered copies on 180gram blue vinyl. The record is housed in a printed inner jacket and spot color printed outer jacket with band photo and song credits. Essential !!

These tracks are now available again on Anna Logue Records' 1st 12" ever, remastered by Marc Senasac and with an addition of 2 beautiful and and previously unreleased 1983 tracks "Lying Next To You" and "Fighting Alone" which feature Siobhan Maher on backing vocals. school daze

Artist : Patrick Cowley

Label : Dark Entries

school daze / 2x12"

Dark Entries and Honey Soundsystem have teamed up to release the gay porn soundtrack work of San Francisco-based musician and producer, Patrick Cowley. Perhaps one of the most revolutionary and influential people in the cannon of disco music, Cowley created his own brand of hi-nrg dance music coined the San Francisco sound. Born in Buffalo, NY on october 19, 1950, Patrick moved to San Francisco at the age of 21. He studied at the City College of San Francisco where he founded the Electronic Music Lab. During this time Patrick would create radio jingles and electronic pieces using the school's equipment, 1st a Putney, then an E-MU System and finally a Serge synthesizer. He would make experimental instrumental songs by blending various types of music and adapting them to the synthesizer. By the mid-70's, Patrick's synthesizer skills landed him a job composing and producing songs for disco superstar Sylvester such as "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)", "Dance Disco Heat" and "Stars". This helped Patrick obtain more work as a remixer and producer. Of particular note was his 18-minute long remix of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" and production work with edgy new-wave band Indoor Life. By 1981 Patrick released a string of dance 12″ singles, like "Menergy" and "Megatron Man", creating the soundtrack for a generation. Also that year, he founded Megatone Records and released his debut album. Around this time Patrick was hospitalized and diagnosed with a then-unknown illness: that would later be called AIDS. Prior to his passing on november 12, 1982, he recorded 2 more hi-nrg hits, "Do You Wanna Funk" for Sylvester and "Right On Target" for Paul Parker. In 1981 Patrick was contacted by John Coletti, owner of famed gay porn company Fox Studio in Los Angeles. John had heard about Patrick's music from the legendary Sylvester and proposed he write music for his films. Patrick jumped on this offer and sent reels of his college compositions from the 70's to John in LA. Coletti then used a variable speed oscillator to adjust the pitch and speed of Patrick's songs in-sync with the film scene. 'School Daze' is a collection of Cowley's instrumental songs recorded between 1973 and 1981 found in the Fox Studio vaults. Influenced by Tomita, Wendy Carlos and Giorgio Moroder, Patrick forged an electronic sound from his collection of synthesizers, modified guitars and self-constructed equipment. The listener enters a world of dark forbidden vices, introspective and reflective of Patrick's time spent in the bathhouses of San Francisco. The songs on 'School Daze' range from sparse proto-techno to high octane funk to somber post-punk to musique concrete, revealing the depth of Cowley's unique talent. Featuring over 80 minutes of music, this compilation contains soundtrack music from 2 Fox Studio films, 'Muscle Up' and 'School Daze', never before released on vinyl. The tapes were restored and transferred using the same speed and pitch settings. The vinyl comes housed in a glossy dual pocket gatefold featuring classic gay porn imagery from the Fox Studio vaults plus an essay from Indoor Life vocalist, Jorge Soccarras. For Patrick's 63rd birthday, Dark Entries and Honey Soundsystem present a glimpse into the instrumental world of a young genius. These recordings shine a new light on the experimental side of a disco legend who was taken too soon..

muscle up

Artist : Patrick Cowley

Label : Dark Entries

muscle up / 2x12"

Dark Entries and Honey Soundsystem Records have teamed up again to release another volume of gay porn soundtracks by San Francisco-based musician and producer, Patrick Cowley. Perhaps one of the most revolutionary and influential people in the canon of disco music, Cowley created his own brand of hi-nrg dance music, 'the San Francisco sound'. Born in Buffalo, NY on october 19, 1950, Patrick moved to San Francisco at the age of 21. He studied at the City College of San Francisco where he founded the Electronic Music Lab. During this time, Patrick, along with his classmates Maurice Tani and Art Adcock, would create radio jingles and electronic pieces using the school's equipment: 1st a Putney, then an E-MU System, and finally a Serge synthesizer. He would make experimental soundtracks by blending various types of music and adapting them to the synthesizer. By the mid-70's, Patrick's synthesizer skills landed him a job composing and producing songs for disco superstar Sylvester, including hits like "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)", "Dance Disco Heat" and "Stars". This helped Patrick obtain more work as a remixer and producer. His 18-minute long remix of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" and his production work with edgy new-wave band Indoor Life were both of particular note. By 1981, Patrick had released a string of dance 12" singles, like "Menergy" and "Megatron Man". He also had founded Megatone Records and released his debut album, 'Menergy'. Around this time Patrick was hospitalized and diagnosed with a then-unknown illness: that which would later be called AIDS. Throughout 1982, he recorded 2 more hi-nrg hits, "Do You Wanna Funk" for Sylvester, and "Right On Target" for Paul Parker, as well as a 2nd solo album 'Mind Warp'. On November 12, 1982, he passed away. In 1979 Patrick was contacted by John Coletti, owner of famed gay porn company Fox Studio in Los Angeles. Patrick jumped on this offer and sent reels of his college compositions from the 70's to John in LA. Coletti then used a variable speed oscillator to adjust the pitch and speed of Patrick's songs in-sync with the film scene. 'Muscle Up' is a collection of Cowley's instrumental songs recorded between 1973 & 1980 found in the Fox Studio vaults. This compilation also includes bonus compositions found in the basement of Megatone Records owner John Hedges and the attic of former bandmate Maurice Tani. Influenced by Tomita, Wendy Carlos, and Giorgio Moroder, Patrick crafted an electronic sound from his collection of synthesizers, percussion, modified guitars, and hand-built equipment. The listener enters a world of forbidden vices evocative of Patrick's time spent in the bathhouses of San Francisco. The songs on 'Muscle Up' are divided into 4 sides, each showcasing a different facet of Cowley's work. Side 1 opens with an ambient journey through the Amazon. Tension builds on side 2, with the instrumental demo version of the slow-chugging masterpiece "I Need Somebody To Love Tonight". On sides 3 & 4 things go interstellar with ecstatic space-funk and galactic workouts. Featuring 75 minutes of music, this compilation contains soundtrack music from 2 Fox Studio films, 'Muscle Up' & 'School Daze', plus additional songs from the same era, never before released on vinyl. The tapes were restored and transferred using the same speed and pitch settings. The vinyl comes housed in a extra wide spine jacket and giant fold-out poster featuring a handmade collage using photography and xerox graphics of classic gay porn imagery from the Fox Studio vaults by Berlin-based artist Gwenael Rattke with an essay from Maurice Tani. For Patrick's 65th birthday, Dark Entries and Honey Soundsystem Records present a glimpse into the futuristic world of a young genius. These recordings shine a new light on the experimental side of a disco legend who was taken too soon.

Artist : Patrick Cowley

Label : Honey Soundsystem Records

kickin' in / 12"

Unreleased disco 12" by San Francisco-based musician and producer, Patrick Cowley. Perhaps one of the most revolutionary and influential people in the canon of disco music, Cowley created his own brand of hi-nrg dance music, 'The San Francisco Sound'. During the 70's, Patrick was the lighting technician at The City disco in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood. This was SF's largest Gay entertainment complex, where everyone from Grace Jones to Sylvester would perform. Frank Loverde was performing there with his band Loverde when Patrick asked if the band would like to do backups on some songs he'd been working on. Frank, Linda Imperial and Timmy went to Patrick's studio and laid down vocals for songs, most of which were never released and remained buried in the Megatone vaults. In 2007 Honey Soundsystem was contacted by the former owner of Megatone Records John Hedges. Hedges' was moving to Palm Springs and invited us over to his basement to collect over 2,000 records from his collection. Among the archives we noticed 3 moldy boxes of quarter inch reel to reel tapes. Included was the final mixed down reel for "Kickin' In", an epic 12-minute journey through disco, that Patrick recorded with Loverde in 1978. From the 2 minute plus drum solo that builds up to the introduction of a bouncing arpeggiated Prophet IV and the harmonized vocals, all transport the listener to another realm. The song encapsulates the hi-nrg dance music that Patrick became known for. It was an 'up' sound for the gay disco scene, music that would compliment and sometimes enhance all night dancing. On the flip are 2 earlier songs produced between 1975-77 featuring basslines by college classmate and studio mate Maurice Tani. Both songs feature Patrick narrating erotic gay sex fantasies inspired by San Francisco's leather bars, back rooms and bathhouses. These songs show the sleazy side of Cowley's slow burning, oozing electronic creations with layers and layers of synthesizer, guitar, drum machine and vocoder. Each 12" comes housed in our custom Honey Soundsystem die-cut jacket featuring an illustration of the San Francisco skyline. Also included is a 8" square postcard of the original "Kickin' In" reel to reel box with Patrick's handwriting on the front and lyrics on the back.

Artist : Patrick Cowley & Jorge Socarras

Label : Dark Entries

catholic / 2x12"

'Catholic', the lost opus of disco pioneer Patrick Cowley & Indoor Life vocalist Jorge Socarras. He studied at the City College of San Francisco and met Jorge Socarras in 1973 through mutual friends. The duo's 1st collaboration was a ten-minute trance-inducing epic that Cowley composed for a performance piece by Socarras in 1975. Patrick, who played drums, guitar and keyboards, provided the perfect match for Jorge's vocal talents. Between 1975 and 1977 they recorded an album's worth of material before Socarras moved to London and Cowley started playing synthesizers for Sylvester. Upon Jorge's return to San Francisco in 1979, the duo would re-record some of the 'Catholic' songs with Patrick's newly acquired equipment. Meanwhile, Socarras met the musicians with whom he would form Indoor Life, and in 1980 Patrick co-produced their 1st album. The 'Catholic' album was offered to San Francisco's Megatone Records who passed on it. Fast forward to 2007 when Honey Soundsystem was contacted by John Hedges, former co-owner of Megatone Records. Hedges' was moving to Palm Springs and invited the crew over to his basement to collect over 2000 records from his collection. Among the archives were three moldy boxes of quarter inch reel to reel tapes featuring unreleased music by Cowley, including the 'Catholic' material. The reel was passed on to Stefan Goldmann of Macro Recordings in Berlin who was able to track down Jorge Socarras and clear the rights. 'Catholic' was finally released on CD in 2009. 'Catholic' is a genre-bending concept album that ranges from minimalistic proto-techno to synth-driven post-punk, pre-dating the dance punk acts LCD Soundsystem and The Rapture by almost 30 years. It shows a much broader range than any Cowley or Socarras material available and gives a totally new perspective to one of the most inspiring eras in music history. Influenced by Tomita, Wendy Carlos, the Velvet Underground, and Roxy Music, 'Catholic' prefigures acts like Talking Heads, Units, The Human League or Chris & Cosey. Patrick forges a unique electronic sound from his collection of synthesizers, modified guitars, and self-constructed equipment while Jorge's vocals go from hypnotic to camp, singing about gay love juju and tackling classics by Donovan and Stoller & Leiber. Featuring over 80 minutes of music never before released on vinyl, this compilation contains 2 bonus tracks not featured on the CD release. The vinyl comes housed in a glossy dual pocket gatefold featuring the intended album cover from the original 'Catholic' photo shoot in 1979, and the original hand-lettering by Arch Connelly aka A. Style intended for the 1st 45rpm single. Inside the gatefold sleeve contains lyrics and an essay from Jorge Socarras. For the 32nd anniversary of Patrick's death, Dark Entries and Honey Soundsystem present a glimpse into the minds of these 2 geniuses. These recordings shine a new light on the experimental side of a disco legend who was taken too soon..

a / b

Artist : Patronen

Label : Fundamental Records

a / b / 2x12"

A genuinely unique project. Fundamental's Alek Stark created this highly limited and beautifully presented project via his love for Cygnus. This led to Biosoft Records which led to the discovery of Patronen, a man who made 2 album's worth of material (and probably more) on analogue machines in the early 90's and refuses to move from shadows. Twin Paradox celebrates this prolific, formative work across 2 albums. With the classic electro angularities and epic synthetic cosmicity are very much of their time, there's an overwhelming sense of timelessness and relevance to the project too. We reckon if you listen to cuts such as the poignant, reflective "Abstand" or the distorted, shuffling phrases and positive harmonics of "Karlsruhe Nach Basel" in 20 years time, they'll still sound just as icy and futuristic. With only 100 printed, this will sell out very quickly..
