circuit lights (1982-1986) / LP

An incredible compilation, beautifully packaged, from one of the best groups of the era. The songs that Gary Ramon edited during the Modern Art era (from 1982 to 1989) was basically from cassettes; most of his music didn't take off outside of the English undergroundu scene in the 80's, probably due to the fact he only had limited copies of his albums, in some cases less that 50. Inspite of the circumstances his songs are still fondly remembered by many lovers of independent music and after many years others have also discovered his surprisingly fascinating work, (partly) thanks to the internet. Nowadays it's much more difficult to enjoy his music in its original format and even more so to enjoy his completed work. For all these reasons new Spanish label Domestica have decided to produce this selection which gathers up and represents part of the original work during the most experimental era of Gary Ramon's music career. We constantly wonder why this compilation has not been thought of before now. Tip !!!

relaxed in upstate rain / LP

In the summer of 1985, soundengineer Gary Zeftig records Red Violet Red at Music America Studios. They self produce and record 8 songs on 24-track analog 2" tape. Game Hen presses 2 of the songs to 12" vinyl single. 300 records are released including "12 Miles Of Sky" & "Candy Cane". Each record cover is hand painted with a green photo sticker and hand-numbered. A basement flood at Game Hen destroys 50 records making the original 250 records harder to collect. The song "12 Miles Of Sky" charts high on many US college radio stations. One year later Red Violet Red breaks up for creative differences, right before a record deal was offered. In 1986 Jeff & Lyle form the cult collector dark-wave band Eleven Pond. Cedric joins the alt-rock band Claude Rains. Jerry goes back to his family's stone cutting business. 25 years later, a Brooklyn Dj discovers the Red Violet Red 12" single and is currently playing "12 Miles Of Sky" to the minimal synth dance crowds at Weird in NYC. In Spain, Domestica Records discovered these unreleased gems and made this album finally available, 26 years after they were recorded... Enjoy!

the dance of death… (the fear of your life) / 10"

Pounding doom fills the air; strong and foreboding, the inner torment of a mind disturbed tells the tale of love, death, suicide and the twisted kind of hope. Forceful and urgent, the music is a perfect expression of the turmoil that leads to violent death. Faster and faster, a helter skelter of panic and resent, the drama climaxes in a tension filled, rabid freeze-frame that focuses on the frenzied terror of the line between life and death. The line is crossed, the tension ebbs, then softly, the perversity of love is revealed. In its darkness these ideas are compelling, their imbalance disturbing. With this comes the natural pomposity of the dramatic-very much like the monumental. 'Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse' by the Bollock Brothers, the lines of wich along these 2 tracks very closely follow. It doesn't matter thought, as the strength lies in the lyrics and the ideas behind them. And out of the darkness came the light...

1982-1987 a compilation / LP

2nd half of the 70's and the 1st half of the 80's was armed with a unique string of sensationally great bands and musicians. There was no problem getting inspired. Inspiration came from such artist as Cabaret Voltaire, Front 242, early Human League, DAF, Joy divison, David Sylvain, OMD, John Foxx, to name a few. And if that was not enough you could always listen to Kraftwerk, Neu or Brian Eno. Moss Garten & Vildsvanen was all about recording music, very few live gigs were performed. Live gigs did not seem to work very well, although billed together with Smithereens from New Jersey and already ledgendary Motörhead finally a decent gig was accomplished. The keyword was Diy. Recordings were all self-produced and mostly the audio engineer work was Diy styled. Always low on cash entailed limitation to which kind of studio could be used and the amount of time which could be spent on a recording. Most of the tunes was recorded and mixed in less than 2 hours and crashed tunes was sometimes reworked years later. You learned to prepare yourself before a recording. Lack of cash also excluded the use of very expensive synthesizers and drum machines, although pleased with my machinery you always wanted more muscles. These limitation was not bad – you became creative. These limitations became the framework together with your influences which gave the music its caracter, but in the end a recording and distribution contract, combined with a proper studio was the goal. Limited edition of 250 numbered copies including a sleeve-sized insert and booklet. Massive one..

non plus ultra 1980-1987 / LP

After a long process of searching, restoring and a careful remastering, we are pleased to present a very carefully selected collection of hard-to-find tracks from the vanguard Spanish techno scene from the 80's. All the material featured on the 'Non Plus Ultra 1980-1987', except for the group from Zaragoza Vam Cyborg, has never been officially released before: most of these tracks should be regarded as demos although some bands had the chance to record them on cassette or reel-to-reel and even in a few cases could have had a limited distribution. This has made it possible for us to recover some of these recordings which we believe should not be lost to oblivion. It's a repertoire of some pioneer groups, which are as unknown as they are interesting, creative, and ahead of their times. After nearly 30 years silence they have stood the test of time and still sound as contemporary as they did then. For the 1st time they will be released in LP format in a limited edition of 525 copies including postcard and compiled dossier with detailed information regarding all the bands featured on the compilation. Great record !

tecnodelia - tendencias (1980-1981) / LP

TodoTodo was a technorchestra which emerged on the music stage at the beginning of the 80's, just when techno movement was the dominant one in the European music framework. Although its influences were much wider, the 3 members in TT were absolutely committed to the contemporarity of techno music language and its possibilities. Every 3rd of the trio was, in itself, an open door towards creativity and each one was concerned with a different view of the same reality, to which, through different ways, they wanted to reach all together with every song they wrote. Francisco 'Paco' García, in an impossible get-together with Truman Capote, Andy Warhol and Erik Satie, translated into numbers the stave graphology, almost in a cabalistic way. Pedro 'Pequi' Vidal, between Nijinsky and Isadora Duncan learnt the discipline which gives pomp and circumstance to the mise-en-scčne, the 'live'. Carmelo Hernández, not far from Debussy, spied with his binaculars, from a terrace in Montmartre, to 'The Queen Kelly'. Yes, they were three boys un peu compliqués. TT locked themselves in a top-floor flat of a building, which they gave the meaningful name of the Hyde's Lab. There, they worked feverishly for 5 months preparing their live performance and composing a completely original repertoire of which they left sonic witness in 2 rough cuts (7 songs in total, included in this LP), and a jingle for the radio programme, included in the sampler 'Non Plus Ultra', also edited by Domestica. TT generated a sonic wall which, at real time and without pre-recorded tapes, on 'strict live', left nobody indifferent. From the spectacular 'live' of TT there is an unpublished video of their last concert, recorded precisely in rock-ola. The band broke up after that concert, and the rehearsals of that concert have been exhumed in the documentary by Antonio de Prada. That wasn't their best concert as, little before the performance, Carmelo's Rickenbacker was dammaged and they couldn't find another one on time. However, that concert was one of the most glamorous ones; among the audience, there were Pedro Almodóvar, Fabio McNamara, Alaska, Nacho Canut, Carlos Berlanga, Paloma Chamorro and, basically, all the 'Movida' celebrating the new year. The rules of TT were simple: 'humans compose-programme, non-humans execute it'. There was not a bass guitarist: a computer executed the bass sounds. TT didn't have a drummer, either, as only a drum machine could follow those wretched patterns 'four-on-the-floor', between 120 and 150 bpm. TT probably broke up because they were not capable of overcoming the external pressure, riddled with interferences which harmed the trio's internal cohesion. Nevertheless, still nowadays, and without having been able to enter a recording studio yet, TT continues to be an unrepeatable, admired and valued group. Both muzak / megadeathextrčme (2 3rds of TT), and also RT-1(the remaining 3rd) spread the original sound of TT in their brilliant recordings. However, for both proposals, TT has always been their failed subject, their origin and their raison d’ętre. Standard limited edition of 350 vinyl copies. One of the best Must-Have of 2012!!

Interacción was a duo formed in the early 80's in Madrid by Carmen L. Fernández de Velasco & Jose Luis Iruretagoyena ,who worked in a multidisciplinary way with minimalist electronic music, image and texts through different methods ,including amongst them Mail Art. Their works were distributed through channels parallel to the system such as sales by national and international mail and in the few specialised places dedicated to this type of music, and also through international collaborations on foreign compilations. They released 2 cassettes: 'Extensión De Los Significados',which compiled works from 1980 to 1983, and 'Ancestrales' with sound material from the years 1984 and 1985. They also contributed to the sale and distribution of music tapes through Visión de Granada, and also of like-minded groups involved in the same scene. They released a video in 1986, called 'Lucis Et Umbrae' that was presented in the II Festival of National Video held in the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid in the section Videos a la Carta. Another tape with the same title was released with the sound material of this audio-visual work. remando en el volga / LP

Ramón G. del Pomar wanted to set up a rock band. He played the guitar. He had already got in touch with a bass player, Patricia Álvarez de Lorenzana, but he needed a singer and a keyboard player. He met Mavi Margarida in some night party in Madrid, and he was fascinated by her lips painted in blue, matching her raincoat. "Would you like to sing?" he asked her. Mavi was studying in the school of the dancer Antonio Llopis, "Teatro de la Danza", so she told him "if you want, we can try". Hired. Then Mavi brought in Ricardo Llorca, a piano student in the Real Conservatorio de Música de Madrid. It was in the winter of 1981 when they entered Mario del Castillo's rehearsal premises, with a rented synthesizer, a drum machine Körg, a guitar Gibson (which had belonged to Pete Townshend), a bass Hoffner and a pair of microphones. The cinema producer Francisco Hoyos was in charge of the expenses. The music by Línea Vienesa lies in so many poles that the links would be too long. We just have to focus on the use of the drum machine, its walks on the Renaissance music which, from time to time, is sung in German (although it is not very understandable) and which is, in the end, music made to entertain as well as to listen to it carefully. The group was not created according to a specific concept. Songs began to arise spontaneously: a guitar riff here, a synthetizer melody there, now a syncopated rhythm and a powerful bass. Many hours of rehearsal. A poem by a friend who was musicalizing, a song compounded in the car during a traffic jam, a modernized “copla” in their parents' home piano, and an interest towards the aesthetics that all of them shared. Up to that moment, any Spanish music group had not used a drum machine to play pop. And that was the 1st Spanish group out of the commercial circuits which all the national written press echoed. What is amazing in Línea Vienesa is, in the 1st place, how clear they have their purpose. The work done and the drum machine have had good results, the compositions have a strange consistency and they are able to lead everything to the best port. 250 copies edition containing 10 pages handmade fanzine + 2 postcards. Really nice gem ;)

Around 1980 Menko Konings started the legendary Amsterdam underground formation S.M. Nurse, 1st together with Jos Jak and later also with Anneke Stempher. S.M. Nurse experimented with collage-like music and were inspired by N.Y.-ultra, disco e.g. The band mainly performed in the Amsterdam ultra-circuit, such as Oktopus on the Keizersgracht and D-Day in Paradiso. They also performed at clubs and discotheques such as Mazzo on the Rozengracht and the transgender nightclub Madame Arthur in the Warmoesstraat. Pretty soon, S.M. Nurse was noticed by radio programme maker Richard Zeilstra from the Dutch broadcaster the VPRO and they were played regularly on radio programmes such as RadioNome and Spleen. They performed live on radio in the villa of the VPRO in Hilversum. They also contributed to the theme cassette 'Turkish Delight' of Van Kaye & Ignit's tapes and record label Ding Dong. Among releases were a live registration on a bootleg cassette, at the time available at Staalplaat, and a cassette of S.M. Nurse on the independent label Top Tape. At the end of 1983, S.M. Nurse split up. Anneke Stempher and Jos Jak recorded a cassette for TopTape under the name Incredible Coop. Menko Konings continued solo under the name eM. He also started the formation No Honey From These with Robby Horsfall. Top Tape released several cassettes and cd's from eM. as well as No Honey From These. The mythical "Transdance" from UK duo Night Moves is given a much needed official issue by Domestica Records and the Barcelona label have spared no expense. A limited pressing of 400 clear blue 10"s come housed in hand printed and hand numbered sleeves accompanied by a leaflet with complete biography of the band. Despite the paucity of Night Moves discography, it's clear the duo of Michael Guihen and John Davis have had an everlasting effect on the canon of synth music with their much admired debut. Transedance was originally released as a limited 12" white label in 1981, finding favour on the dancefloors of Europe and New York City yet never really gained the wider exposure it richly deserved. Original copies of the GC1 pressing of "Transdance" still command slightly ridiculous prices so kudos to Domestica for this rather special presentation which features a previously unreleased demo cut "Life Up" on the flip.

después de un dia antes / LP

A while ago, the town of Burriana saw the appearance of some strange guys who had some strange albums, who went on some strange excursions to the local graveyard, whose lead singer wore a strange scapular, who wielded a strange 3 string bass guitar and who called themselves Radioactivos Neurosos. They recorded strange demos in large quantities which were broadcast on the right local radio programme, Extrańos en la Noche (Strangers in the Night), together with most bands from the area. One day, the name changed into the current one, Funeraria Vergara. Apocaliptic gigs in remote places. A few more tones of strange demos. A new term was being coined, a new style (!?) was filtering around the orange groves and nearby beaches: necro-pop. Coffin shaped pinewood guitar cases, smiles through clenched teeth, prayer books and prints of the most colourful saints, virgins and little angels, exercises in healthy sound sarcasm, music between absurd folly and lyricism, between laughter and a grin, between Transylvania and Burriana... Anyway, between cheap booze and the most select cava. Lately, in a display of cheeky bravery and in order to get fame, money, glory, lots of women, success, wealth and hit parades in the civilised world in a fast, brilliant and overwhelming way, they have come up with a song "El Difunto" (The Deceased), wich portrays the commercial, danceable, marketable, chewable and colourful side of a genre in black and white: necro-pop. Wich is here, and nobody knows how. Edition of 350 copies. 180gr vinyl. LP presented in a special die-cut jacket which shows through the cut. Includes inner sleeve.

In 2011 he decided that he wanted to make true songs, so he was carried along, with no complexes, by the greatest sounds and romanticism that he had ever heard. Artificial Organs evolved out of the Melbourne music scene in 80's. They played at venues like Melbourne University and The Organ Factory; a creative incubator for various 'little bands' whose avant-garde music focused on electronic and synthetic sound. Artificial Organs explored the potentials of innovative consumer tools for music. The 'Memento Mori' album was influenced by the zen elegance of rhythm-tracker Laurie McRae; the badboy-punk ethos of Ian Forrest, the driving bass of Nick Seymour (later superstar of Crowded House); the pop lyricism of Trisha Viggiano and Stephen Charlesworth. Vocalist Lisa Dethridge organized a techno-chic video studio shoot with fellow students, making the band pioneers in the art of music video. Forrest sent a copy of the album to German band Kraftwerk who met with Artificial Organs members when Kraftwerk visited Melbourne in 1981. This meeting confirmed Artificial Organs as talented early exponents in the history of techno-electronica. Former members currently work across the digital arts in fields of music, performance, robotics and information technology. Limited to 400 copies on 180gr vinyl. Beautiful !

So much can happen in 3 years time. For 1/2 (aka Sol Ist from Narrow), it seems like a long way. Emerging onto the so-called 'bedroom synth-noir' scene in january 2009, 1/2 immediately grabbed attention from other Diy enthusiasts abroad. Using various internet sources discreetly promoting his work gained him friendly acquaintance and support, which is without doubt a surprising (if not unexpected) launch of a mini-career that successfully enters its 4th year span, already summing up a variety of releases on the singles, mini-album and ep front, including compilation appearances and collaboration/remix work. The initial idea was to release 1/2's 2nd mini-album "Analogue Cuts In Digital Ways", but during a period of scheduling this release, the final choice became the ep "Separate Ways", originally released in 2011, now to see the light of day as a 7" single. Dark Like A Restaurant grew out of a number of experimental bands working in the Dallas area in 1979-80. In the wake of the Sex Pistols show at the Bronco Bowl (1978), an entire scene grew up in Dallas that was part punk, part proto-new wave. One of these bands was Boys Life, which contained 2 of the 3 members of the later Dark Like A Restaurant (only Roland TR808 was not in Boys Life). Rex Koontz played guitar and sang. Boys Life was fronted by Jaime Lagarella (keyboards & voice), later an important producer and engineer; Bob Green (bass, later of The Grassy Knoll), and Jeff Zilm (drums, currently a painter and previously of the Comateens). Boys Life never recorded but played several important shows at the premier Dallas experimental showcase the Hot Klub. After Boys Life disbanded without a recording, Dark Like a Restaurant formed to showcase Koontz's stripped synth and guitar sound and his increasing obsession with the hypnotic rhythms of the then new Roland TR808 drum machine. The combination of minimal synth foundations and a floating, haunting guitar sound served as the calling card for the band. Limited edition of 320 numbered copies only & including a leaflet..

Kremlyn was a techno-pop duet which is not, obviously, the solution to urban boredom problems, is launched in Barcelona as something brilliant and unusual, astonishing for all they achieve despite having little means, but making the most of their limited resources. J.J., an 18-year-old boy with a keyboard and an organ, from which he plays the drum machine, as well as other effects, for which he is the only responsible because of his autodidactic investigation. Amongst all his songs, "Rutinas" stands out; it's an excellent composition which, with no doubt, should have reached the 1st position of hits parades if someone decides to edit and promote it. In Yazoo's techno-pop style, however, Kremlyn's future were not very clear, due to a slight passiveness showed by its components, which refrains their music from being as well-known as it deserves..

Sequencer People is one of the many projects which the prolific US duet formed by Roland Barker and James Husted carried out in the early 80's. Under this pseudonym, we just have the proof of a cassette recorded in 1982 by the independent American label Engram Records & Tapes, from Seattle, which collects the only concert recorded in the art gallery Roscoe Louie, from Seattle as well. Apart from this short association, the American duet minimal-synth, formed by Roland and James, took part in lots of other projects, sometimes together with other groups (Young Scientist, or Body Falling Downstairs), other times concurrently (Audio Leter, or K7SS) and also on their own. As James himself points out, the essence of all these groups was improvisation, that is to say, they never compounded following limited patterns. They used to have a very simple structure which they were developing without a previous schedule. For this reason they have never conceived the term 'song' in their wide musical production; instead, they talked about 'performances' or 'improvisations'. Anyway, in all their projects we always find an obvious tendency towards experimentation, in essence, with electronic instruments and the discovery of new possibilities with analogic technology, as well as the creation of dark sounding universes, industrial and open to a lot of possibilities. Now, for the 1st time, Domestica introduces to you these 2 jewels of the most subterranean and trend setting electronic music, in vinyl format. past and future / LP

Little Nemo was born in 1983 as the result of the musical encounter between Olivier Champeau and Vincent Gallo in the Paris area. The name stems from Windsor McCay's comic strip, dating back to the early 20th century and telling the oniric adventures of a little boy during his sleep. That sets the tone for the many arty references in the group's history. The duet asserts this psychedelic ascent while quoting Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd as their influence. Their music mixing keyboards (mainly Olivier), a drum machine and guitar/bass by Vincent is influenced by the new-wave of Cure and Joy Division, as well as by the French groups Taxi Girl and Marquis de Sade. 'Past And Future' was originally self-produced and self-distributed by the band on his own label Artefact, as a limited edition of 500 cassettes, released in june 1987. It was sold out in a few months. The tape is meant to be conceptual. It features on the 'Past' side a song about the passing of time ("A Day Out Of Time"), the sung adaptation of the poem by Baudelaire "A Une Passante", "Empty House" the story of a haunted house in the style of Edgar Allan Poe, "Old Age" about the loneliness of old age and ends with a waltzing version of "La Balade Des Pendus" from Villon. All this reminds of the 19th century. The 'Future' side begins with "Seconds", referring to the clock counting down to the year 2000 set up at the Beaubourg Center in Paris. The time theme comes up again on "Counter-Clock World", followed by a song about the TV series of the 60's "The Prisoner", "Be Seeing You" with an organ sound reminding of the Stranglers. It ends with "Future is now" and is artificially linked by the character of Alan who appears in several songs. Musically, this album features addictive songs and already defines the trademarks of each musician, the most synthetic and energetic titles for Olivier, Vincent revealing his taste for ternary rhythms, the piano and cursed French poets. Little Nemo already shows a marked personality. In 1989, the band was signed under licence to New Rose for the LP 'Sounds In The Attic' (on Lively Art sublabel), after New Rose had distributed the self-produced ep 'Private Life' in 1988. In 1990, New Rose reissued 'Past & Future' on cassette, and another 500 copies were sold. Out on vinyl for the very 1st time, with hand-printed letterpress. Edition of 500 units..

Cult Club is the musical project of Berlin artists Sally Jřrgensen and László Antal. It was formed shortly after Sally and László realized that they could no longer spend their days draped over the couch drinking Pálinka and listening to "Axel F" on repeat. They then decided to put to use their god's gift of talent they so uniquely acquired, and formed Cult Club. Their interest in melodic oldies songs and electro pop singles became the driving influence for their musical collaboration. They wanted to create a sound that made the people as mad and wild on the dancefloor just as it did for the neighbours who couldn't stand listening to Sally and László s music blaring in the apartment complex. Having a mirrored background in the arts, design, film and performance world, Sally and László decided to create a collaborative project that combined their musical and artistic backgrounds into one. Diy art films and electro pop is the by-product. Edition of 350 units, includes an insert with lyrics and additional information. Hand-printed with letterpress.

At that moment, Terminal performed their music with the synthesizers Korg MS-20, an electric piano, an electric bass Ibanez Black Eagle, and an acoustic box Korg KR-55. domestic landscape (subterranean synth-wave compilation) / LP

Difficult to describe this album without using typical and recurring terms such as: 'extremely weird' or 'very rare to find'.. although it is inarguably true, and on this occasion we have wanted to go farther: we introduce you a selection of songs which, most of them, have never been released in physical format and can't be found in any other digital media until nowadays. Other few were published in very limited editions in cassette format, usually aimed at a local promotion of a kind of music which was totally inaccessible to the crowds, more than 30 years ago.. 'Domestic Landscape' is a compilation formed by 10 groups from all over the world. Some names will be familiar to those who have followed Domestica Records from the start in 2011. 'Domestic Landscape' is not a very common or habitual compilation, at least that is what we intended. Here you will find very different sounds, difficult to label, a range of songs made in a moment which is crucial to us, unknown but, at the same time, wonderful in the endless history of our beloved music. Limited edition of 450 numbered copies. Double side handmade printed cover. Album presented in a special die-cut jacket and heavy green cardboard sleeve. It includes an insert (30x30 cm) with extra information..

actos de maldad / radioactividad / 12"

Vam Cyborg is a pioneer band in Spanish electronic music, which, all through several decades has followed an independent spirit concerning trends and sound spaces, always showing an absolute freedom of ideas. Vam Cyborg was created in the mid 1975 by Vicente Aguilera, under the name of Cyborg, as an entity which was open to all sorts of musical activities, ideas and instruments. It underwent different formations, from the classical one (drums, bass guitar, guitars, keyboard and voice) to the most daring ones in those times (synthesizers, rhythm machines, sequencers, modified machines.. and just a human being). In september 1981 Ricardo López joins them, and they start a series of performances (as an electronic duet) which they begin in the Basque Country and continue in Aragón. In their concerts, they add projections of images, metallic structures, make up and other elements which give a dramatic effect to the live and direct. They make 2 official recordings "Mortal Joy" and "Vam", and appear on different TV programmes. In 1983 they launch their 1st record: 'Actos De Maldad', a maxi-single. After that, 'Gods Valley' edited by Linacero in 1984 (later included in the 1st maxmix by Mike Platinas and Javier Ussia) and in 1986 under the name of Dirección Prohibida, they have their 3rd work edited, in Barcelona. Vam Cyborg is found in the electronic music field, always open to the new technologies and at the vandguard. From the beginning and even today, with their latest work, they experiment new sounds and rhythms. Limited edition of 350 copies only !!

unreleased & demos 1984-1986: 25th anniversary edition / LP

Long time before Handful Of Snowdrops released their 1st and mythical album 'Land Of The Damned', this cult band originally from Quebec City had produced, since their beginnings in 1984, an amazing amount of demos, although they had never managed to attract the interest and attention of the big record companies, despite their originality. In that moment, there was not a background or collective in Canada where they could fit... these are the very significant words of Jean-Pierre Mercier, co-founder of the band, in a recent interview in the digital magazine 'Subterock.com': "Quebec City was not known for its strong music scene, to say the least. It gave us a kind of freedom and infused us with a carelessness that I’m still grateful to." It was never a reason to give up music, on the contrary; 2 years after their formation, they recorded their most famous song, "Gabrielle", in a different version, in a little study in their hometown, which was later included in their 1st album. With this album we wanted to gather a compilation of some of their best unreleased songs, compounded in different moments but which have the same essence, always encouraged and led by Mercier brothers. All the songs are, up to now, totally unpublished, with the exception of 2 demo versions former to their 1st album ("Face To Face" and "Gabrielle"), and they have been remastered with an enourmous care, as usual, by Yves Roussel. Limited edition of 250 copies, no repress. Includes an insert. Tip !

land of the damned: 25th anniversary edition / LP

It was more than 25 years ago that Handful Of Snowdrops, a pioneer band and a model to follow in the Canadian Electronic new-wave, released its 1st and mythical album 'Land Of The Damned', which, with own effort, has become an essential and cult piece of music to worship especially amongst all kind of true collectionists and music-lovers, into the most gothic, electronic and darkwave. It can be observed in the growing interest all over the world towards this 1st album, self-produced in 1988 and was reedited in 1990 by the record label C'est La Mort for the American version, a company which disappeared in the 90's and was largely inspired by the UK label 4AD, which introduced many other groups, also pioneer and high-quality, such as The Arms of Someone New, M-1 Alternative, the wonderful 'Voices...... of a Summers Day' by Room Nine, or the remarkable saga of compilations 'Doctor Death's'. Unfortunately, nowadays it is very difficult to obtain a copy of 'Land Of The Damned' in good conditions, and even more difficult to have it at reasonable price. For all that, today Domestica introduce us the official reedition of their debut album in vinyl format, carefully remastered and redesigned for the occasion. Limited edition of 250 copies, no repress. Includes an insert.. Tip !!

so far, so near

Artist : Doric

so far, so near / 10"

Doric is the alternate persona of the multitalented Stathis Leontiadis, mostly known as the one half of the Greek purists, Human Puppets. He is, without a doubt, one of the 1st Greek independant musicians in 00's, that treasured new wave synth music, using only hardware. Exactly as his ancestors. Being involved in various avant garde/new wave music projects since 1996, intrigued by the all analogue mentality of the late 70's / early 80's music field, he passionatelly commited to vintage synths and machines, creating a very distinctive and specific style and considered by many as 'specialist'. His releases on Fabrika Records gained excellent reviews and described as minimal electro perfectionism. This time, on this mini LP, Doric builts on his analogue rhythm box (the famous KR-55) a short story about alienation in six parts. All related and connected, these 6 songs describe a day of a daydreamer, forced to cope with routine and the vile, impersonal stage of socializing. This new age of 'impersonalization' connecting with others but never quite communicating our wishes and wills, sums up to the title 'So Far, So Near', a vast misinterprantion of other people's motives, as we are trapped inside our own havens; ourselves. This small personal nightmare, is synthesised with multilayered agility, using a Moog Rogue, a Sequential Circuits Pro One and the MacBeth Micromac-D. All this obsessive use of analogue equipment has only one purpose: delivering an accurate, minimal but not simple description of Life as a concrete, empty, business transaction, full of unique circuits and paths, noone sees. Overall, this mini LP refers to temper/personality, as an inevitable hideaway of oneself, but yet impossible to maintain, as long as we are bound to norms that regulate superficial relationships. We are far but yet, so near. All tracks written/performed/produced by Stathis Leontiadis, 2014-15 in Athens. Edition of 300 numbered copies. Hand silkscreened cover. It includes an insert (26,5x26,5cm) and free download code..

untitled / LP

Founded in December 1984, they started to make a name for themselves (the name comes from Stanly Kubriks classic 'Clockwork Orange' and stands for a special drink which was available at the Korova Milkbar. In the russian translation Moloko + means 'milk with knives'). At the same time in Great Britain bands like Bauhaus, Dead Can Dance, or Southern Death Cult started a new era in music: Gothic Underground. Moloko + with its singer Martin Holm gave great concerts and got a well known name in the scene in Southern Germany. TV, radio and the press followed closely the rise of the band from Landshut. The 1986 published 1st record is still an admirable jewel and should not be missed on any searching list. They got prepared to record a 2nd album when "suddenly a comet burned out, near the sun, on distant skys". "In Meinen Taschen Die Sterne Wie Staub" (translation: In my pockets the stars like dust). The song from the 1st album and our thoughts are dedicated to our leadsinger Martin Holm, who left our world much to early. Edition of 400 numbered copies. Hand-printed with letterpress, each cover is different. Comes with DIN A3-sized poster printed double sided..

circuit lights (1982-1986) / LP

Edition of 320 copies. LP presented in a heavy weight matte die-cut jacket, with printed inner sleeve which shows through the cut. This 2nd edition comes with different colour sleeve. The songs that Gary Ramon edited during the Modern Art era (from approximately 1982 to 1989) was basically from cassettes; most of his music didn't take off outside of the English 'underground' scene in the 80's, probably due to the fact he only had limited copies of his albums, in some cases less that 50. Inspite of the circumstances his songs are still fondly remembered by many lovers of independent music and after many years others have also discovered his surprisingly fascinating work, (partly) thanks to the internet. Nowadays it's much more difficult to enjoy his music in it's original format and even more so to enjoy his completed work. For all these reasons Domestica have decided to produce this selection which gathers up and represents part of the original work during the most experimental era of Gary Ramon's music career. We constantly wonder why this compilation has not been thought of before now.. Tip !!

pas de deux

pas de deux / LP

We are in 1985, a hectic year for the emerging independent record label Auxilio de Cientos. The company 'offices' are in full performance. There are several projects going on, and the 1st one at international level is no less than a compilation which meets up electronic music groups formed by a couple, a very common tendency these days. A nearly 'conceptual' project in which electronic groups from such distant countries as USA or Germany take part; however, they have a common denominator: all of them are emerging groups in which experimentation and 'resounding risk' is an essential premise in their recordings. Nevertheless, there is a clear homogeneity in their sound. The synth-pop, dark ambient, minimal synth, industrial, techno amongst other musical classifications which later on would become very popular, are revealed in the grooves of 'Pas De Deux'. The selection of artists has been a hard and complex work.. Internet does not exist, Facebook, soundclouds, Instagram, Napster, and many other means which will emerge a few years after that, and which will facilitate the distribution and communication between people are science fiction in 1985. Those young artists and musicians communicate basically through fanzines, 'circles' of friends, independent radio stations, the well-known postcard art and epistolary post! However, there are no barriers to communicate and, eventually, they manage to compile an excellent selection, with themes specially recorded for that occasion. Some of the groups are, at the same time, pioneer in their original countries. That is the case of the Belgian Bene Gesserit (with their recording seal Insane Music), Deux Pingouins (Illusion Production). Both 'labels' will be very active in the following years and they will relatively manage to succeed in their respective countries. We can also talk about the American group Algebra Suicide (formed by a journalist from the Rolling Stone and a radio commenter), the Californian Psyclones, who sometimes remind us of The Residents, Lied and Die Freude, a German duet whose theme is the music of one of their video-performance, or the very young Enhanta Bodlar or the naif sound of the Italian Influenza Prods. 'Pas De Deux' led to Auxilio de Cientos' international taking off as well as a great step forward in the consolidation of an alternative to the 'official' one music prevailing in Spain. Other groups and recording seals were working at a similar level in other cities of the country, and all together brought in a different view, a new sound. Edition of 500 copies !

untitled / 10"

Appeared from the alternative Italian stage in the late 80's, Voxzema is one of the most unknown and peculiar bands in the european underground music scene. Despite not having launched any record before its early breakup, they did give a few concerts and, with some luck, you will be able to find 2 of their demos in the strange compilation in cassette format 'Ologenesi' from 1989. Thanks to an exhausting work of musical archaeology, Domestica found their original members and rescued their demos, most of them totally unpublished up to now. With a totally innovative sound, Voxzema is a mixture of electronic/coldwave with psychedelic touches, blunt bases and a deep male voice which may evoke a hybrid between Cassandra Complex and Kas Product, to name some of them... perhaps we're talking about 'cyberpunk'...? Judge yourself! Edition of 250 copies. Presented in a handmade silk-screened sleeve, here in gold version printed on a black textured sleeve (nş 175 to 250) !

hometape recordings 1981-1983 / LP

S.M. Nurse with Menko Konings (active as eM. and co-founder of S.M. Nurse) wouldn't leave our audience indifferent, but it's so difficult to guess how far a group can reach, 30 years after their splitting up, taking into account that about 2 years ago very few people knew them. This is precisely the kind of projects which fulfill us; we are looking forward to them! And this is one of the reasons why Domestica Records was born 4 years ago. Here is their 2nd collaboration with S.M. Nurse; 'Hometape Recordings 1981-1983', a compilation of the best songs recorded in the studio between 1981 & 1983, and never before edited in vinyl format and a short biography by S.M. Nurse: Around 1980 Menko Konings (eM.) started the Dutch underground formation S.M. Nurse, first together with Jos Jak and later also with Anneke Stempher. S.M. Nurse experimented with collage-like music and were inspired by N.Y.-ultra, disco e.g. The band mainly performed in the Amsterdam ultra-circuit (Oktopus, Paradiso), clubs and discotheques. They were played regularly on the famous radio programmes RadioNome and Spleen and performed live on radio in the villa of the VPRO in Hilversum. They also contributed to the theme cassette Turkish Delight of the label Ding Dong and there was a cassette release on the label Top Tape. At the end of 1983, S.M. Nurse split up. The songs of S.M. Nurse are composed and performed by Anneke Stempher, Jos Jak and Menko Konings. Edition of 500 copies with insert ;)

mesmérique

mesmérique / LP

Not everything is known and explained. On the fall of 18th century Mesmerism managed to transform simple suggestions into the modern hypnotism known today, throwing the basics for other scientific disciplines largely diffused in our times, as psicotherapy, psychology, music therapy.
But the animal magnetism conceived by Mesmer was only a pseudo scientific practice, it worked for other causes than those believed by its own discoverer.
Sometimes things work perfectly for reasons man cannot understand. L.A.S.'s Crime, an italian duo fascinated by electronic music, started its activity in 80's with a long list of demo tapes, partecipating to several compilations and later recording 2 vinyls for well known european labels.
'Mesmérique' is their 3rd album reissued for Domestica Records, created with 11 original recordings taken from their 80's 4tracks demotapes, but restored today in a professional studio: you will be scattered into a path of 11 vivid and hypnotic visions never reissued before on vinyl. Tracks are ordered chronologically, from the 1st to the last years of 80's, showing the creative travel of the band towards the decade.
Listening after listening, you will gradually become more conscious of the hypnotic nature of this music, full of contrasts, filled with endless repetitions echoing into memory in mysterious ways: a concise and minimalistic style who has kept alive this music during the last 30 years, by porting it from tape to cd, and later through internet, from a fan to another, from a musical genre to another, from a decade to another.
This music has been jealously preserved by those who knew and loved it: but the simplicity of its structures, the oblique melodies, the small length of the songs, are apparently weak reasons for this 30 years long devotion, it is somehow plausible there can be other reasons, far more complex to explain than it would be legitimate to believe.
So no coincidence that the tape is also called magnetic stripe, and that the turntable is a magneto acustic device. Edition of 300 copies including an insert with lyrics and additional information. Hand-printed with letterpress.

5xod / 10"

5X0D has always been Mark Phillips and Rob Lawrence since it began in 1981 in Bristol UK. Early influences were many going back to pop, prog and krautrock bands of the early 70's, through punk and new-wave to industrial, then later Japanese techno-pop like YMO. We made our tapes one by one directly copying from the master reel to reel tape and we distributed them through the cassette scene postal network of the early 80's. We definitely were only interested in sounding original though we had influences like Art of Noise, YMO, Der Plan and Yello. We weren't very interested in UK synth-pop, maybe only Caberet Voltaire early on. We did much solo recording during the 80's, most of which is on the Soundcloud site. We do still like to make music, but just for fun. We've always been attracted to electronic and modified sounds, but have tried to write interesting songs to use the sounds in. We have lived through an era of technological advancement, and we felt positive about that whilst recognising the dehumanising potential of all machines. Edition of 350 copies presented in a handmade silk-screened sleeve.

transdance g.c.1 / 10"

The mythical "Transdance" from UK duo Night Moves is given a much needed official repress by Domestica Records and the Barcelona label have spared no expense. Edition of 400 copies, presented in a hand-made silk-screen printed cover sleeve. 2nd pressing on black vinyl including a booklet..!

original soundtrack

Artist : Gary Blanchard

original soundtrack / LP

Official reissue of the extremely hard to find 'Original Soundtrack' album by Gary Blanchard. Less than 500 copies of this analog keyboard solo effort were originally pressed, and less than 200 still exist. The album was written, produced and distributed in Gary's hometown Baltimore between 1986 & 1987. Gary Blanchard began playing guitar in the late 60's and soon became a regular on Baltimore's folk circuit. Then on April 19 1986, Gary came home from a peace benefit show, turned on the TV, and saw Laurie Anderson on Saturday Night Live. After 20 years, Gary decided he wanted to do something different. He bought a $100 Yamaha PSR keyboard, complete with autochord and drum machine, and began to experiment with writing in new ways. Rather than having conventional song structure, the music was more open. The words were sometimes spoken, and sometimes sung. Gary also began writing poems and vignettes to include in his performances. While these songs were not as overtly political as his folk-style songs, they commented on life in the 80's with a uniquely cynical Baltimore view. (Many thought Gary was influenced by Baltimore filmmaker John Waters, especially given Gary's love of pink flamingos, but Waters was not an influence on the music.) Gary began to search out other performers to help him bring this material to the stage; at the same time he started working with producer Erik Steensen to create a recording of the music along with some of the spoken word pieces. The album 'Original Soundtrack' was released about the time Gary did his 1st performance with The Generic Art Ensemble. Since the program was called, generically, SHOW, Gary decided to name the soundtrack album, 'Original Soundtrack'. The very 1st performance at Baltimore's 8x10 Club was a 2 person program with dancer Joan Mosca. Soon the Ensemble also featured Cynthia Gaver on keyboard, Stephanie Waters, a talented sculptor, as a performer and 2nd dancer, and Renee Zorn, who joined right before the ultimate performance of SHOW as sound technician; she later worked as a performer with Gary on the programs 'Experiments In Low Budget Technology' and 'Natural State'. After a break from performing while getting belated college degrees, Gary returned to performing in the early 21st century, back to the singer/songwriter style of his past. Gary feels that the 'Generic Art Ensemble/Original Soundtrack' days gave him an ability to open up his writing. His recent albums feature guitar, but many songs do have keyboards added to give them a fuller, less folky sound. This reissue includes numbered insert with complete biography and track-by-track notes by Gary Blanchard himself. Front cover artwork hand pasted on sleeve..

domestic landscape vol.2 (underrated synth classics 1982-1990) / LP

2nd volume of 'Domestic Landscape' series, a collection of rare electronic music compiled from bands around the world. Once more, and as Domestica did with the 1st volume of 'Domestic Landscape', here is a selection of songs that you won't find in any other format, apart from of a few exceptions which were published in cassette and in very limited editions. All the bands selected have something in common: they are projects born out of the need to express an own, original and genuine message, built up from a solid basis and the result of hard work. Needless to say, all of them did it through analogic technology and, therefore, the main transmitters of this message are the synthesizers, the drum machines and the sequencers. In addition, each of them created, promoted and sold their music in a totally independent way; in a context which was very different from the current one and, up to a degree, much less friendly. Some of these bands have survived for years, others have disappeared and others have mutated; however, now we can enjoy their music again and give them the recognition that they deserve. Edition of 400 copies with inserts. Tip !

play with lies / LP

Cult Club is a Berlin-based electro-pop duo. Sally Jřrgensen is from Canada & László Antal is from Serbia. Their similar diverse backgrounds in the creative arts and their love for analogue imagery and pop melodies inspired them to collaborate together. Together their songs range from a dreamy, soft sound to harder driving pop songs. Sally's vocals are layered in a harmony of different sounds and melodies over László's fretless, bass driven music. Their debut ep 'Never Enough' was released on December 14th 2015, on Domestica Records. It featured an extended version of their most popular dream-pop song "All The People" to contrast the more chilling cold song versions of "Never Enough". Their full-length album 'Play With Lies' continues to feature sad, dream-pop songs such as "Call My Name" while also containing some straight up pop tracks such as "Play With Lies" and "Talk To Me". maquinismo operatorio 1984-1986

Artist : Fernando Gallego

Label : Domestica

maquinismo operatorio 1984-1986 / LP

Fernando Gallego is not a music band which we can define as 'common', on the contrary. This group from Burriana, successor of Funeraria Vergara, started its history back in the early 1984 (after Juan Luis Montoliu left), and it ended in 1986 with the emergence of the project Decúbito Supino. Their usage of some synthesizers, amongst other gadgets, keyboards and large petrol cans, was the distinctive feature as regards to their predecessor band; such an echo defined a much more industrial and electronic sound, closer to early EBM. As it happened with Funeraria Vergara, the disconnection or isolation towards something which might be classified as 'local scene' or similarity, which was the most common thing, given the circumstances.. Castellón, in those times, did not have many ways to let people know his music, and even less that one made by other groups similar to FG, either in style or musically speaking. This fact helped to define a unique and original identity, even more if possible, taking into account the personality and character of each of its members. F.G. didn't get to publish anything at all until 2012, when one of his songs (Almuerzo Desnudo) appeared in the compilation 'Non Plus Ultra 1980-1987'. Edition of 300 copies with DIN A3-sized poster printed double sided and free download code with exclusive digital bonus track..
