inestable / 12"

Minimal Wave's sublabel Cititrax presents us the debut 12" ep by Medio Mutante. Really great electro-wave influenced by hip-hop, jazz, latin freestyle and new-wave records from Europe, America and Japan, Medio Mutante wrings a mutated blend of raw and propulsive energy from their limited analogue gear in a Los Iniciados way. 6 immaculate danceable electro tracks limited to 600 copies. According to us, the best minimal electro-wave act of the moment ;)

dance party album

Artist : Z-Factor

Label : Cititrax

dance party album / LP

A must have for any fan, collector, enthusiast, new recruit of the early Chicago house sound ! Considered by many to be the first full length house record ever produced (tracks from this 1984 album have been bootlegged and re-edited over the years but here is the full in it’s official repress glory) made at a time when electronic instruments were exciting the hell out of young musicians, enabling them to release their own tracks in a raw and personal form. The album full of brilliant musical ideas that are accompanied with some often very amusing commentary and songs. you should have this in your life !!!

if are you...

Artist : Sylvi Foster

Label : Cititrax

if are you... / 12"

Some classic italo-disco for the dancefloor on MW sublabel, Cititrax. Sylvi Foster was the brainchild of the young Domenico Ricchini (who also produced music under the pseudonyms: Bandanna, Bob Salton, Delanuà, and Joe Yellow). Domenico formed his 1st rock band in 1974 and his 1st disco band in 1978. In 1979, he recorded "If Are You Master", "Love Dawn" and "Flood" and later recorded "Hookey" in 1982. This ep brings together 4 of his best songs, which were released on various hard to find 12"s throughout the years. This is the sound of early italo-disco, with its slinky pre-midi synth-funk elements. Limited to 999 copies...

lonely streets remixes

Artist : Futurisk

Label : Cititrax

lonely streets remixes / 12"

Minimal Wave's sublabel Cititrax takes an old sound in a new direction entirely, giving electro-punk band Futurisk's classic "Lonely Streets", a modern shake-up through a remix package from current artists. The 1st remix by synth legend Chris Carter (aka Throbbing Gristle, Chris & Cosey), whose version is one that we would have dreamed of doing back in 1982. DFA artist Prince Language's version captures the feel of the song nicely with the use of all the stems, especially the real drum tracks that were part of Futurisk's signature sound, stirring up the no-wave styles that also influenced the band at the time. It is also a pleasure to hear Tom Furse's (aka The Horrors) Moroder-esque electro-punk take, sounding like a missing track from a late 70′s sci-fi flick. Finally UK Complexxion's track with the feel and approach of Arthur Baker, Martin Rushent, Daniel Miller and Kraftwerk of course, all of which were big influences on the members of Futurisk. Lovely surprise ;)

mutual dreaming

Artist : Innergaze

Label : Cititrax

mutual dreaming / LP

New music from Brooklyn based synth duo Innergaze. Their 2nd LP, 'Mutual Dreaming' is a highly anticipated release and we're ecstatic that the vinyl is finally out. Innergaze drag us slightly further back into the glorious cradle of dance music. Their music, crushed and static, obscured by sound. EBM, coldwave, early techno fight it out for dominance of the drum machine. Casually brutal vocals force their way through from the Death Factory. As if Chris & Cosey's dalliances with the Eurythmics had conjured a restless pioneering demon to duet with Annie Lenox but had instead ended up consuming her. Celestial synths coexisting with the industrial landscape bellow. Limited pressing of 999 copies on 160gr vinyl, housed in a high quality full color printed sleeve featuring a collaborative artwork concept by Veronica Vasicka and Aurora Halal. Awesome!

native state

Artist : Kontravoid

Label : Cititrax

native state / 7"

6th release on Cititrax, Native State by Canadian artist Kontravoid. The name Kontravoid belongs on a limited run cassette circa 1980-something, the type of tape buried in lost upstate dustbins of pre-MIDI analog electronics, wedged between Cabaret Voltaire and Das Ding. The dark industrial and new-wave influences are strong on ex-Crystal Castles drummer Cam Findlay's new project—his voice is scary, like an echoing underwater growl—but the underlying pop melodies always afford a degree of breathing room. After departing as writer/producer for Toronto band Parallels, Findlay has settled into a music venture he can call his own, assuming the identity of this masked alter-ego for what appears to be a permanent ride. On his debut self-titled album, Kontravoid turns to analogue synths to create a dark, brooding pop masterpiece. His brilliant vocals emit a dystopic low-grown, often running through warped effects accompanied by exceptionally stirring arpeggiated synths and washes of sound. Modern touchstones could parallel the likes of John Maus or Trust, but Kontravoid's vision is a much more twisted one, embracing goth influences and yielding a monstrous result that is harder to define. Despite its sonic vampiricism, Kontravoid's music leaves plenty to dance and lose your mind to, but the imagination here goes way beyond these activities exclusively. The tracks presented here, Native State (stream the video) and Cut To Cleanse are exclusive 7" only versions. The record is pressed on clear blue vinyl and comes in a hand silkscreened sleeve, limited edition of 999 numbered copies.

immaterial visions

Artist : The KVB

Label : Cititrax

immaterial visions / LP

New release by the UK duo known as The KVB on Cititrax. Combining shoegaze guitars, minimal synth melodies, hypnotic drum machine rhythms and reverb drenched vocals, The KVB was 1st formed in 2010 as the solo project of Klaus Von Barrel. He was later joined by his girlfriend Kat Day, who added synthesizers and abstract visual elements. Their sound can be described as dark, layered, complex and moody – an icy atmosphere juxtaposed by the warmth of distorted guitars. Aside from actively touring, they have had quite a few releases in this short time span, including a limited edition cassette on FLA Records ('The Black Sun'), a 10" vinyl ep on Downwards Records ('Into The Night') and 2 releases on Clan Destine Records ("Subjection/Subordination" and "Always The"). Inspired by what we heard on these releases along with the recent inclusion of Dayzed on Downward's So Click Heels Compilation, we felt the time was right to present a full length album of The KVB's latest material. The record is pressed on 180gr ultra clear vinyl, housed in a high gloss printed heavy sleeve, limited to 999 copies.

future fusion

Artist : Streetwalker

Label : Cititrax

future fusion / 12"

Chicago duo Streetwalker, comprised of molecular biologist Beau Wanzer (Mutant Beat Dance/L.I.E.S) and electronic music aesthete Elon Katz (White Car/Hippos in Tanks), wrote their debut album 'Future Fusion' over the course of 2 years. Through endless experimentation and analog improvisation, they have constructed an entirely new sound showcasing vibrant hand-played synthesizer, vulnerable vocals, and serpentine drum lines. Streetwalker's distinct song structures are characterized as much by restraint, timing, and subtle shift as by the cyclic abandon of the loop. Having recorded the entire album over one humid weekend in the Chicago studio, Minbal, the duo's recording process mirrored this tension. Much like a rock record, each track was recorded entirely live to 1 inch tape (no overdubs, no MIDI programming) and then painstakingly mixed with digital precision during the 6 months that followed. In line with this principle of handcrafted reconfiguration, artwork for the LP was produced in collaboration with digital artist Spencer Longo (IMG Masters/The Jogging), who harvested images and textures from Wanzer's extensive collection of classic sci-fi and horror editorial to construct an anachronistically futuristic interface. The record is pressed on 160gr vinyl and comes in a matte printed sleeve, lined in black.

mat at duvorna

Artist : Facit

Label : Cititrax

mat at duvorna / 12"

Facit is the brainchild of Joakim Karlsson hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, who also released under Jocke & Elliot back in 2010. Featuring both Karlsson and the lovely Mai Nestor on vocals, Facit is quintessential melancholic Swedish wave at its finest. Exquisitely produced, the 'Mat Åt Duvorna' ep is a minimal synth wave gem, drawing some inspiration from French Chanson as well. The ep is pressed here on 160gr milky clear vinyl. Limited to 999 copies.

immaterial visions remixes

Artist : The KVB

Label : Cititrax

immaterial visions remixes / 12"

Limited edition vinyl release of remixes of select tracks from The KVB's highly acclaimed 'Immaterial Visions' LP. The 'Immaterial Visions Remixes' ep features versions by Regis (Karl O’Connor), Silent Servant, Shifted, In Aeternam Vale, and Worn. The ep is pressed on 160gr white vinyl and comes in a white hand stamped die-cut disco sleeve.

Artist : An-i

Label : Cititrax

kino-i / 12"

An-i is the latest musical moniker for Berlin based former New Yorker Doug Lee. Doug has been Djing and producing records for the last decade under various aliases and collaborations. The Cititrax ep Kino-i will be the debut release and home for An-I, a showcase of his love affair with machines. It fronts a hard hitting sound beyond category, moving from techno to jack to punk and to noise. It suggests an anything goes attitude perhaps dictated more by the will of machines themselves then any author..

world in a tear

Artist : Bruta Non Calculant

Label : Cititrax

world in a tear / LP

New project by Alaxis Andreas G, the mastermind behind Le Syndicat Electronique and numerous other analog electronic, experimental and esoteric industrial folk projects. Alaxis formed Bruta Non Calculant in 2006 along with his brother Victor-Yann (De Frontanel). Their debut album, 'World In A Tear', presents 10 tracks drenched in a dark european atmosphere complete with a sound fully formed and heroically executed. Themes of death, lust and unrequited love are all bound in this brown book-esque collection. The songs occupy their own space and communicate in their own language and as such almost seem to have the ability to alter time once the listener has succumbed to their discordant beauty. An unsurprisingly impressive comeback, Bruta Non Calculant's debut album blends new wave elements with folkloric balladry impeccably, and approaches this with a modern sensibility. 'World In A Tear' is an elegant collection of seductive songs. Vinyl pressed on ultra clear 160gr housed in a matte full color printed sleeve limited to 999 copies..

Artist : Further Reductions

Label : Cititrax

woodwork / LP

Full length LP by Brooklyn duo Further Reductions. Shawn O'Sullivan & Katie Rose formed Further Reductions in 2008 as an outlet for their shared passion of electronic dance music. O'Sullivan, known for his recent techno releases as Vapauteen on L.I.E.S., 400PPM on Avian and Civil Duty (with Beau Wanzer of Streetwalker) on The Corner has been quite active lately blurring the lines between techno and noise music. With Further Reductions, O'Sullivan's rhythmic sensibility is fused with Rose's pop leanings to create super lush and atmospheric tracks that work both on and off the dancefloor. Informed by the sounds of classic techno and early house, they subtly substitute the structure of functional club music with a more primal absorption based in their unique collaboration. Seductive vocals coupled with organically evolving sequences create a complex narrative that penetrates the subconscious in a way that conventional club music rarely threatens to. 'Woodwork' is an edition of 999 copies pressed on 160gr clear vinyl with purple and silver splatter, presented in a high gloss printed LP jacket.

violence and divinity

Artist : Silent Servant / Broken English Club

Label : Cititrax

violence and divinity / 12"

4 song split ep by Silent Servant & Broken English Club. Although the 2 are geographically very far apart, Silent Servant based in Los Angeles, US and Broken English Club based in London, UK, the 2 share a similar outlook and musical approach. Both projects have been on the rise lately, and stem from a strongly rooted techno background. Combining their influences of dance music, techno, EBM, industrial and post-punk, Silent Servant & Broken English Club offer a new breed of EBM infused techno wave on the 'Violence And Divinity' ep. They artfully create music that works both on and off the dance floor, infusing a dark atmospheric mood with addictive, pulsating rhythms. Themes of love, death, modernity and automobile crashes appear throughout this ep from the music itself right through to the cover art and one of a kind vinyl pressing. Limited edition vinyl pressing of 999 copies, housed in a matte printed sleeve..

Artist : An-i

Label : Cititrax

gutz / 12"

Follow-up to An-i's 'Kino-i' debut 12", released in February 2014. An-i continues his love affair with electronics offering us 3 distinct slabs of throbbing machine funk. The opening track "Gutz" is a dense mutant high energy number, modern yet timeless. "Rut", the 1st track An-i recorded whilst still living in New York and the 1st one to catch our attention, opens the B side with a massive dose of syncopated teutonic mayhem, spacier and sparser than the rest. "Save Us" completes the release with an anthem of dirty warehouse techno. The record is pressed on 160gr fluorescent magenta orange vinyl and housed in a high gloss grey Pantone sleeve..

Artist : Broken English Club

Label : Cititrax

scars / 12"

4-song ep by Broken English Club. After the strong reception of the 'Violence & Divinity' split with Silent Servant as well as his solo ep for Jealous God, here Oliver Ho (also known for his Raudive alias) continues in a similar vein, delivering sparse vocals and shards of live instrumentation over heavy, stuttering beats and bleak synths. The tracks on this ep are rich and darkly atmospheric, pulsating loudly through a smog filled dancefloor. A subversive spin on dance music, the blank-stared, pin-point-focused electronics and layers of noise betray no/wave and post punk influences, dragging together industrial experimentation and pitch-black techno. Artwork designed by Veronica Vasicka and sourced from the archives of Silent Servant, the Broken English 'Scars' ep features a one of a kind vinyl pressing of white inside clear. Limited to 999 copies and housed in a matte printed sleeve.

suburban hunting

Artist : Broken English Club

Label : Cititrax

suburban hunting / 2x12"

Full length double album by key Cititrax artist Broken English Club. After the strong reception of his split ep with Silent Servant, solo work for both Cititrax and Jealous God, and recent feature on the Cititrax: 'Tracks Volume 1' ep, Oliver Ho (also known for his Raudive alias) expands upon the themes in his earlier output. Now though, he is presenting Broken English Club as the multifaceted project that it is. He fearlessly exposes a range of emotion through varying sound, texture and song structure. The result is a manifestation of his influences (post punk, noise, techno, grindcore) melded into his own unique vision and culminating in an album that sounds absolutely massive, both on and off the dancefloor. Pressed on 160gr splattered black and clear double vinyl limited to 999 copies, housed in a heavy weight high gloss sleeve, featuring art direction by Veronica Vasicka and Silent Servant, with photography by Corinne Schiavone.

tracks volume 1

Artist : Various

Label : Cititrax

1st in a series of 4-song samplers showcasing the talents of some of the most innovative producers of the moment. Cititrax 'Tracks Volume 1' ep features Amato, an edgy new project brought to you by The Hacker, Tzusing, a young producer from China known for his hard-hitting L.I.E.S. releases, our beloved Berlin based former New Yorker An-i, and Oliver Ho's stunning Broken English Club. The overall sound can be described as modern, uncompromising and guttural. Each artist reinvents dance music by bringing their own unique vision to the floor. Artwork designed by Veronica Vasicka and sourced from Polaroids shot in NYC clubs in the 80's. Pressed on blood red clear vinyl, limited to 999 copies and housed in a full color printed sleeve.

le désordre et la nuit

Artist : Amato

Label : Cititrax

le désordre et la nuit / 12"

4-song debut ep by The Hacker's new project called Amato. Influenced by early EBM, German techno and new-wave, Michel Amato (aka The Hacker) began producing tracks under his new moniker Amato in 2014. The 1st one to be released, called 'Physique', came out in 2015 on the Cititrax 'Tracks Volume 1' ep and was a dancefloor success. On this EP entitled 'Le Désordre Et La Nuit', Amato integrates his love of the new-wave to form 4 EBM tinged techno funk hits. Very dancefloor friendly, these tracks take pop elements reminiscent of Belgian body music and bring them to the present day. Amato shines as a producer here, as he has so many times before. It's an absolute honor for us to release this debut project. Artwork is sourced from photographs taken in NYC in the 80's with layout by Veronica Vasicka. Limited to 999 copies pressed on 160gr silver vinyl and accompanied by jackets printed on a matte heavyweight cardstock printed sleeve.

adieux au dancefloor

Artist : Marie Davidson

Label : Cititrax

adieux au dancefloor / LP

New full length LP entitled 'Adieux Au Dancefloor' by Montreal based recording artist, Marie Davidson. She has emerged as one of the foremost electronic artists working in contemporary pop today. As a long-time member of Essaie Pas, Davidson has had the opportunity to hone her many talents. She has been participating in the city's vibrant experimental community for much of her adult life. However, in 2012 she began to unveil compositions under her own name, revealing a solo artist who possessed the combined confidence and vulnerability required to write, produce and perform unaccompanied. Davidson's intimate solo work is embodied through a host of synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines which coalesce in synchronized harmony, punctuated by vocals, half sung, half spoken in both French & English. She masterfully shapes the overall mood, themes, emotion, expression and intensity of her work, which gives the final result a distinctive, cinematic quality. With 'Adieux Au Dancefloor', Marie makes a slight departure from her last 2 releases, released on Holodeck (in 2015) and Weyrd Son Records (in 2014), by creating her 1st fully dancefloor oriented piece of work. Through the 45 minutes of music that comprises the album, she experiments with pop structures, defines her voice, and layers rhythms to make complex and beautiful techno tracks. She closes the album with the title track in classic 'chanson' style. The record is housed in a full color printed heavyweight jacket along with matching printed inner sleeve. 2017 repress on black vinyl !

tracks volume 2

Artist : Various

Label : Cititrax

tracks volume 2 / 12"

2nd in a series of 4-song samplers showcasing the talents of some of the most innovative producers of the moment. Cititrax 'Tracks Volume 2' ep features the fearless and ultra-talented Chinese producer Tzusing, the raw avant-garde electronics of London based producer L/F/D/M, creative west coast powerhouse Silent Servant, and prolific underground French producer Maelstrom. The overall sound can be described as modern, uncompromising and guttural. Each artist reinvents dance music by bringing their own unique vision to the floor. Artwork designed by Veronica Vasicka and sourced from Polaroids shot in NYC clubs in the 80's. Pressed on blood red clear vinyl, limited to 999 copies and housed in a matte printed sleeve.

promises & infatuation

Artist : Borusiade / The Sixteen Steps

Label : Cititrax

promises & infatuation / 12"

Split ep by 2 massive talents, Borusiade & The Sixteen Steps. Borusiade, originally from Bucharest (Romania) began as a Dj in the early 2000's and then started producing music in 2005. With a background in classical music, she combined her love of raw electronics, obscure themes and melodic lines to create her own signature sound. She has released on the Co?meme label as well as Corresepondent. "Infatuation" and "Confutation" are dark, moody and intense tracks that catch you upon 1st listen. The flip side of the 'Promises And Infatuation' ep features The Sixteen Steps, the brainchild of George Lanham who cut his musical teeth Djing and running events in the south of England. We have been listening to many of his tracks endlessly for a while now. They've also been a highlight of Veronica Vasicka's Dj sets as of late. "Signals From The South" and "Promises On The Run" are both immaculately produced, hypnotic, dancefloor killers. They are sparse EBM meets smoky warehouse techno, and offer a wonderful contrast to Borusiade's layered emotive tracks that reminisce of an East Village club in the 80's. Themes of infatuation, appearances, and anonymity appear throughout this ep from the music itself right through to the cover art. Limited edition vinyl pressing of 999 copies. Our copies are one of the first 500 pressed on black inside milky clear vinyl (each record is one of a kind), housed in a matte printed sleeve..! Nice !!
